Dans le dessin, les figures indiquent: Fig. 1, en coupe verticale une bougie d'al lumage en position de fonctionnement mon trant les pièces essentielles qui en font les ca ractéristiques, Fig. 2, la bougie en action, sa tête abais sée, c'est-à-dire à la masse ou en court-circuit, le tube de la tête coulissante venant faire con tact avec le culot de la bougie, ce qui a pour effet d'arrêter l'allumage aux électrodes;
Spark plug for explosion engines. The present invention relates to an ignition plug for combustion engines. This spark plug is characterized in that it comprises a sliding head terminated at its upper end by an insulating part and formed by a metal tube guided on the central electrode holder by a conductive ring which serves at the same time to bring the current at the upper electrode,
said tube coming into contact through its lower part, when the head is pressed, with the base of the spark plug and putting said spark plug in instantaneous short-circuit, which allows the spark plugs and engine cylinders to be checked without the addition of any device.
The description which follows with the appended drawing given by way of example relates to an embodiment of the invention.
In the drawing, the figures indicate: Fig. 1, in vertical section, a lighting candle in operating position showing the essential parts which make up its characteristics, Fig. 2, with the spark plug in action, its head lowered, that is to say to ground or short-circuited, the tube of the sliding head coming into contact with the base of the spark plug, which has the effect of stop the ignition at the electrodes;
this figure also shows the lower electrode in its gripper claw which makes it possible to adjust said electrode, FIG. 3, the special washer which allows the air capacity of the spark plug explosion chamber to be reduced at will; Fig. 4, the special express wire fastener which allows instantaneous outlet at the touch of a button.
According to said embodiment, the. removable spark plug includes as shown in fig. 1: An M frame in which is mounted; in the usual way, the body B in porcelain or any other insulating material, held in place and strongly tightened by the locking screw K which forms an absolute seal by means of the seals L and N.
A central electrode holder J, the upper end of which is terminated by a small ring E forming a spring which keeps in place and prevents from escaping through the top, the movable head A, D of the candle; the lower end of this electrode holder is terminated by a threaded hole in which is screwed the upper electrode O, preferably in nickel-chromium or similar material resistant to 1500 degrees of fusion. The central part of the rod J has a threaded bulge, a part of which serves to screw it into the insulation B and the upper end into the smooth neck ring 1 which makes current with the mobile head A, D.
A special copper or all-metal tube A forming the movable head and comprising at its upper part a threaded housing, to receive the part D, shell-shaped, in insulating material, screwed inside the tube A and which allows to rest on the head without any danger. In this part D is made a hole to allow the electrode holder J to slide when the head is pressed, to put the tube A in contact with the base of the spark plug as shown in fig. 2 in Y, which puts the spark plug in an instantaneous short-circuit and which allows the checking of the spark plugs and the cylinders of the engine without the addition of any device.
The tube A runs smoothly on the second ring I in copper, brass or any other metal and screwed on the central electrode holder J.
A ring F screwed or welded into the tube A comprising a hole in its middle which allows the electrode holder J to slide when the head is pressed A, D. This ring is wide and ensuring a direct contact has the effect, first of taking the current on the central electrode holder J on which it smooth neck like a piston and of bringing it to the sliding head A, D, then of for mer stop against the spring stop E and to keep said mobile head strictly rigid and vertical A, D.
A fastening terminal H is fixed on the tube A. It is provided with a hole 1 in which is inserted the plug 2 making a spring. This plug can turn in the hole 1 with gentle friction, in order to avoid any twisting of the wire 3 and to prevent it from breaking. As the tube can rotate around the electrode holder J, it goes without saying that the wire clip can also perform a rotational movement. The plug 2. is provided with a screw 4 terminated by a point X. On this screw is screwed a nut 5 provided with a housing for the wire 3. To fix the latter, it is inserted into said housing and one tighten the nut fully on screw 4. In this way, point X penetrates between the threads of the wire, spreading it towards the walls of nut 5.
A return spring G intended for. hold the movable head in its inactive position and which compresses when the said head is pressed to put the spark plug in. the mass.
An upper electrode 0 screwed on the electrode holder J, therefore removable, preferably in nickel-chromium or material so milaire resistant to 1500 degrees.
An upper electrode 0 screwed onto the lante which can take different shapes and different thicknesses. This ring shown in fig. 3 can be combined with the lower seal; by replacing it with another, it is possible, if necessary, to increase, decrease and adjust at will the air capacity of the explosion chamber of the spark plug. In this way, the same spark plug can be used indifferently on low or low-power engines. strong compression at slow or accelerated speed.
This new device makes it possible to -limit the number of spark plugs generally required for the range of existing engines and to prevent the self-ignition of the spark plugs; this allows to a certain extent, that is to say when the threaded part which is screwed on the engine is the same, which is the case for many engines, to standardize the spark plug which is not differentiated from while by its base C.
A lower electrode Q- with electrode holder P, characterized by the fact that it is not an added part, but is integral with the base M of the spark plug, which makes it very solid and rigid; it is surmounted by a small cone forming part of the piece itself. The whole of the electrode holder P is drilled with a threaded hole to receive the electrode Q. In addition, it is split into four in half its thickness, as shown in Z. This makes it possible to form a claw tightening and holding the electrode Q firmly in place. This device prevents the use of a locking locknut which can become unblocked, enter the engine explosion chamber and cause serious damage.
The lower electrode Q is preferably made of nickel-chromium or similar material such as the central electrode; this electrode has a lower groove to allow adjustment at will and is like the removable central electrode. The two electrodes 0 and Q being removable, they can be easily exchanged, which allows to have spark plugs constantly in perfect condition.
