Description
<I>Beispiel:</I> 46 Teile reines Isodibenzanthron werden in 460 Teilen Chlorsulfonsäure gelöst.
Process for the preparation of a vat dye. The main patent describes a process for preparing a vat dye containing chlorine and bromine, in which 1 mol of isodibenzanthrone is treated in the presence of chlorosulfonic acid and catalysts with at least half a mol of a brominating agent.
It has now been found that a valuable vat dye is also obtained if 1 mole of isodibenzanthrone is treated in an acidic medium in the presence of a metal compound with at least 1/1 mole of a brominating agent.
The new dye, a monobromoisodibenzanthrone, dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a green color and dyes cotton from a blue vat in extremely clear and strong blue-violet shades of very good fastness.
<I> Example: </I> 46 parts of pure isodibenzanthrone are dissolved in 460 parts of chlorosulfonic acid. After adding 1.2 parts of manganese and 9 parts of bromine, the temperature is increased to 25-301 ° C. and the mixture is stirred until all of the bromine has been absorbed. After the cold, it is diluted with concentrated sulfuric acid, poured into water and filtered off with suction.
Instead of manganese, other metals or metal compounds, for example mercury, arsenic, bismuth or iron or their compounds, can also be used.
The reaction can also be carried out at a lower temperature, for example at <B> -5 </B> to <B> 0 '</B> C.
