      Zusatzpatent    zum Hauptpatent Nr. 142437.    Verfahren zur Darstellung von     Ba-1-4'-nitrobenzyl-benzanthron.       Gegenstand dieses Patentes ist ein Ver  fahren zur Darstellung von     Bz-1-4'-nitro-          benzyl-benzanthron,    welches dadurch ge  kennzeichnet ist, dass man auf     Benzanthron     in Gegenwart von Schwefelsäure     p-Nitro-          benzylalkohol    einwirken lässt.  



       Beispiel:     23 Gewichtsteile     Benzanthron    werden in  250 Gewichtsteilen Schwefelsäure von 60         B6    gelöst, dazu 16     Gewichtsteile        p-Nitroben-          zylalkohol    hinzugegeben und 48 Stunden auf  dem Wasserbad gerührt. Die Masse wird  alsdann in Wasser gegossen, abgesaugt und  getrocknet. Das Reaktionsprodukt wird in  analoger Weise wie im Beispiel des Haupt  patentes angegeben gereinigt und aus geeig  neten Lösungsmitteln, wie zum Beispiel  Chlorbenzol umkristallisiert.  



  Das so erhaltene     Bz-1-4'-nitrobenzyl-ben-          zanthron    schmilzt bei<B>272-274'</B> C     und    löst    sich in konzentrierter Schwefelsäure rot ohne  Fluoreszenz. Das erhaltene neue Produkt  soll zur Darstellung von Farbstoffen Ver  wendung finden.

       Example: 23 parts by weight of benzanthrone are dissolved in 250 parts by weight of sulfuric acid of 60 B6, 16 parts by weight of p-nitrobenzyl alcohol are added and the mixture is stirred for 48 hours on a water bath. The mass is then poured into water, filtered off with suction and dried. The reaction product is purified in a manner analogous to that specified in the example of the main patent and recrystallized from suitable solvents such as chlorobenzene.



  The Bz-1-4'-nitrobenzylbenzanthrone obtained in this way melts at 272-274 ° C and dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid red without fluorescence. The new product obtained is intended to be used for the representation of dyes.

PATENTANSPRUCH: Verfahren zur Darstellung von Bz-1-4'- nitrobenzyl-benzanthron, dadurch gekenn zeichnet, dass man auf Benzanthron in Ge genwart von Schwefelsäure p-Nitrobenzyl- alkohol einwirken lässt. Das so erhaltene Bz-1-4'-nitrobenzyl- benzanthron schmilzt bei<B>272-274'</B> C und löst sich in konzentrierter Schwefelsäure rot ohne Fluoreszenz. PATENT CLAIM: Process for the preparation of Bz-1-4'-nitrobenzyl-benzanthrone, characterized in that p-nitrobenzyl alcohol is allowed to act on benzanthrone in the presence of sulfuric acid.
