Description

Mouthpiece for vacuum cleaner. The present invention relates to a mouthpiece for a vacuum cleaner comprising a hollow elastic support member serving as a mount for the endorsement of a brush of generally annular shape by rotating an air passage.

This mouthpiece is characterized in that it has, on the elastically hollow member, a wall also surrounding the passage for the air and extending almost to the free ends of the bristles of the brush, so as to sea a suction orifice and prevents air from passing between the bristles except at their free end, to reach this orifice.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the organ, support and brush, partially in section; Fig. 2 is an end elevation, partially in section, showing the support member attached to a suction duct; Fig. 3 is an inverted plane of the support member with the brush removed, and FIG. 4 is a section taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 3.

The mouthpiece is shown, simply by way of example, attached to a metal nozzle 10, having a tubular portion of the ends to engage with a flexible pipe 11 and with an elongated nozzle 12 having a rib 13 on it. along his front lip. Another type of nozzle or pipe could also be used.

The mouthpiece comprises a hollow elastic support member 14, made of rubber for example, serving as a frame for the endorsement of a brush 18 of generally annular shape. The member 14 has, between its ends, a groove 16 intended to receive the endorsement of the brush 18. This support member is formed; at one of its ends, upper in the drawing, so as to come into engagement with the end of a suction duct 10, 11. The part 15 of this end of the member 14 is intended for cooperate with the rib 13. At its opposite end, the support member 14 has a wall 19.

relatively thin and flexible, extending almost to the free ends of the bristles of the brush 18. The latter and the wall 19 surround a passage 20 for air through the member 14.

The wall 19 is arranged so as to form a suction orifice and to prevent the sucked air from passing between the bristles or the tufts of bristles of the brush, except at their free end and thus forces this air to pass under the bristles. points at the free ends of the bristles, so that all the air which enters the suction passage 20 necessarily blows on or at. through part of the object; to be cleaned with which the free ends of the bristles are presently in contact.

This avoids loss of air and improves the efficiency of the mouthpiece, while retaining the advantages of a simple means of fixing the brush to the support member and of fixing this member to a duct. suction (with the rigid nozzle or flexible pipe), while making it possible to obtain at the same time, for the operator, a flexible, efficient maneuver which prevents damage to the furniture.

In the example described, the wall 19 is formed by a rim integral with the support member 14. The brush 18, in this same case, surrounds the wall 19.

Thanks to the particular arrangement of the groove 1.6, the backing of the brush can be easily pushed in.
