Process for the production of a new azo dye. It has been found that a new azo carbate is obtained if 1 mole of cyanuric chloride, 1 mole of 1,8-aminonaphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid, 1 mole of dehydrothiotoluidinesulfonic acid, 1 mole of 1-oxy-2-diazobenzene-4 -Lets sulfamide and copper-releasing agents interact in such a way that
that the aminonaphthol disulfonic acid and the dehydrothiotoluidinsulfonic acid are connected by the cyanuric nucleus, the diazo compound couples in the 7-position of the aminonaphthol radical and the resulting dye is converted into its copper compound.
The new dye forms a dark powder. It dissolves in water with a violet color and produces red, cast purple tones of very good lightfastness on cotton.
Example: The diazo solution of 18.8 parts by weight of 1-oxy-2-aminobenzene-4-sulfamide is mixed with a neutral solution of 75 parts by weight of the secondary condensation product of 1 mol of cyanuric chloride, 1 mol of 1.8 Amino naphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid and 1 mole of dehydro thiotoluidinsulfonic acid combined in the cold.
The amount of milk of lime required for dye formation is slowly added to the mixture. After the coupling has ended, the dye is salted out. He dyes cotton in red-violet tones. To produce the copper compound, the dye is dissolved in boiling water and, after acidification with acetic acid, a copper sulfate solution is added until no more copper is absorbed by the dye. The precipitated copper compound is filtered and dried.
This copper compound can also be obtained in the following manner. The diazo compound is coupled from 18.8 parts by weight of 1- oxy-2-aminobenzene-4-sulfamide with a solution of 31.9 parts by weight of 1.8 aminonaphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid with the addition of milk of lime, the dye separates, brings it into solution and converts it into the complex copper salt by boiling it with copper salt.
The amount of copper compound corresponding to 51.8 parts by weight of copper-free dye is dissolved as a neutral ammonium salt in 1200 cm 'of hot water, combined with a suspension of 18.5 parts by weight of cyanuric chloride in water and a lot of ice and stirred at 0 for 2 hours. Then a neutral solution of 32 parts by weight of dehydrothiotoluidinsulfonic acid is added to the violet solution, the temperature is slowly increased to 50-60 and a solution of 10.6 grams of soda is allowed to run in for one hour. The dye separates out and is isolated by filtering off.
