Boiler. There are known devices for generating hot water, having a hearth extending through all or most of the height of the boiler, and communicating with smoke tubes through which circulate the gases from the boiler. combustion before escaping through a smoke exhaust opening.
The object of the present invention is a boiler similar to the aforementioned devices, but which differs from them by the fact that the internal walls of the hearth are coated with removable lining plates comprising on the surface swept by the combustion gases, vertical fins intended to increase the effective heating surface.
Figs. 1 to 4 of the accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section along the axis through the boiler; Fig. 2 shows the lower part of the same section, showing the grille in its lowered position; Fig. 3 shows, seen from above, a partial section of the boiler, along line A-A of FIG. 1, and FIG. 4 shows the same part of the boiler in section along B-B of fig. 3, and seen from the front of the boiler.
In the drawing, 1 indicates the boiler's water tank, 2 the fireplace, 13 and 14 the grate, 18 the ashtray with its door 19, and 3 the flue tubes. The water tank and the hearth are preferably made of sheet iron welded to the joints, the flue tubes being of steel, and can be placed both behind and on either side of the hearth. The base of the boiler is indicated in 4, and is made of cast iron; 5 indicates the smoke box, in which the combustion gases from the fireplace pass over the screen 23.
This smoke box is constructed in such a way as to form an upper, united plate, in which holes closed by series of closing rings fi and 7 are arranged, and it is provided with an opening 15, for the fuel charge. ; this smoke box can be, like the base of the boiler, made of cast iron.
The chamber where the soot is deposited and into which the smoke tubes open, is indicated at 8, and is provided at its rear part with an opening leading to the chimney, through the tube 10, in which a valve or valve pivots. rocking. 11; mounted on a shaft 12, extending to the upper plate, and provided with an operating lever. This is, as usual, provided with a toothed locking device, allowing the lever to be fixed in the desired position. In order to increase the efficiency of the boiler, the ashtray and the chamber where the soot is collected can both be surrounded by space or communication with the water tank.
The grid is arranged so as to be able to be lowered by rotation around a rod 21, fixed to the bottom of the ashtray and on which it pivots on its inner edge, or outer edge resting by means of a catch 25 on a lock 16 controlled by an angled lever 17, mounted on the outside of the wall of the ashtray, as shown in fig. 1. When the fuel remaining on the grate has to be removed, the latter is lowered by removing the latch 16, by means of the angled lever 17; it can then be easily cleaned. Instead of a slide lock, a rotary lock can be provided.
So that the grate, which is formed as usual by parallel bars, can be freed of ashes while the fire is lit, it is constructed in two parts 13 and 14, fig. 3 and 4, so that the bars are arranged alternately on each of these parts one of these, by. example the part 13, 'being supported by the other and being movable on the latter, the part 14 being supported by the rod 21 and the latch 16.
The movable part is arranged so that the upper edges of the bars are at a slightly lower level than that of the bars of the other part, in order to facilitate cleaning while the fire is lit. Door 19 is provided with a main air inlet valve, and door 15 on the smoke box is provided with an additional air inlet valve.
The sweeping of the smoke tubes is carried out through the opening closed by the series of closure rings 7. The soot falling into the emptying chamber is removed through the cleaning opening 24, brought into the separating wall. the ashtray of the emptying chamber. The hot water generator can be either separate from another heating stove, as for example when it is placed in a hall, or else mounted together with it, as in the case of a vegetable garden of the kitchen. In the first case, a smoke box is used according to the shape shown in fig. 1, while in the second case the smoke box is devoid of a charging opening for the fuel.
In the latter case, the fuel is loaded through an opening arranged in the front plate of the furnace, the secondary air supply valve then being placed directly on the smoke box.
The hearth is completely lined with removable lining plates, the lower surface of which is provided with vertical grooves or fins 30 (Figs. 1 and 2), and the outer surface of which conforms to the inner surface of the hearth. Said plates have been shown removed in FIG. 3, in order to simplify the drawing. The air coming from the ashtray thus feeds the hearth and thus rises along the interior surface of the hearth in the grooves, the heating surface of the hearth being thus increased and the complete combustion of the fuel, even of that which is placed. directly in contact with the walls is facilitated.
The boiler is intended for heating water used either for central heating or for domestic purposes, and in the latter case, it can be advantageously combined with a hot water storage tank.
