Fig. 1 zeigt eine transparente Unterlage; Fig. 2 zeigt die genannte Unterlage mit einer dar-auf angebrachten\ Schicht aus un- durchsicht.igem Stoff; Fig. 3 ist eine ähnliche Darstellung, in der jedoch vorgenannte Schicht mit einer lichtempfindlichen Emulsion bedeekt ist; Fig. 4 zeigt die Wiedergabe nach der Be lichtung und Fixierung; Fig. 5 ist eine ähnliche Darstellung nach einer vorläufigen Ätzung;
Process for the preparation of plates, which for. Production of lithographic printing plates after rasterized images are to serve. The invention relates to a method for preparing a negative or positive plate which is to be used for the production of lithographic printing plates after rasterized images and to the new negative or positive obtained by this method. The purpose of the invention is that which has hitherto been common. Simplify procedures.
In the drawing, the new method is illustrated using schematic representations in example.
Fig. 1 shows a transparent base; FIG. 2 shows the said base with a layer of opaque material attached to it; Fig. 3 is a similar view, but in which the aforesaid layer is covered with a photosensitive emulsion; Fig. 4 shows the reproduction after exposure and fixation loading; Fig. 5 is a similar illustration after a preliminary etch;
Fig. 6 shows the negative in its final form, done; to make a lithographic printing plate therefrom.
With. 10 is a transparent, that is, translucent or translucent base, which is preferably made of glass. However, it can also consist of .einem film or some other suitable material, such as gelatin or celluloid, paper or other material: which is plate-shaped and transparent.
One surface of this plate is covered with a thin, opaque layer 11- which can consist, for example, of copper, zinc or some other suitable substance that is deposited on it, for example by electrochemical means, or in the form of a sheet on it is glued.
Over the layer is provided a thin coating 12 (Fig. 3) of a photosensitive emulsion, for example a bichromate glue solution. For this purpose the surface 11 is carefully cleaned and a light-sensitive emulsion, for example a mixture of slime, chromic acid, water and ammonium bichromate, is poured evenly over it and dried on it.
The plate prepared in this way is exposed to light, layer against layer, with a suitable halftone image, for example a positive, then bathed in cold water and washed under the shower. As a result, the unexposed. Parts, that is: those parts of the emulsion on the plate, which were under the dark parts of the positive during the exposure, dissolved and removed. The remaining parts 13 (Fig. 4) are thereby fixed and are allowed to dry and harden.
The fixed parts 13 are then exposed to a high temperature in order to harden the image, for example by baking with a gas flame in order to char the fixed photosensitive emulsion and to make it completely resistant to the etching that is used later. If a flammable underlay is used, a cold treatment can be used for this purpose.
The plate is then etched, for example by bathing in some known etching solution, which penetrates to the transparent surface 10 and provides an outline of the image on the transparent base.
The plate can then be subjected to extensive treatments for further etching and re-etching: for the purpose of correcting the gradation of the tone values, be it brightness or color tone values. The Beha: n.d- treatments can, if necessary, be repeated using a suitable acid-resistant substance, eg. B. Asphalt paint, on which a further etching no longer required parts of the picture is applied.
In this way, a finished negative (Fig. B) is obtained from a positive or a positive from a negative, which is directly suitable for reproduction on a zinc or aluminum plate and from which the final lithographic printing plates are produced in a known manner . In this way, a number of intricate technical steps are saved, as well as a number of plates, and a very satisfactory, color-corrected halftone negative is obtained.
