Description
Coolant level indicator for motor vehicles. If there is not enough cooling water for the engines in motor vehicles, the engine will overheat after a short drive, which has a very damaging effect, etc. The thermometer used to display the temperature of the cooling water shows the overheating of the cooling water. sers and
twith that indirectly the. Lack of cooling water, but this is always displayed while you are driving and usually too late for damage to be prevented.
According to the previous experience, there is now a; Water level indicator is provided, which can be designed so that the presence and the amount of cooling water is displayed at all times,
so that, for example, it can be recognized immediately before the start of the journey whether cooling water is being refilled. The water level indicator can advantageously be attached to the radiator in combination with the thermometer, and a signaling device is also connected to it can be.
The subject matter: the present invention is shown in the accompanying drawing in two exemplary embodiments. FIG. 1 shows a cooling water level indicator, combined with a thermometer that is well known; Fig. 2 shows a further embodiment.
In a housing 1, which is mounted on a cap A of the cooler by means of a threaded connector 2 and nut 3, two cutouts 5, 6 are provided in a shield 4.
These are provided with scales on both sides, with a pointer 7 pointing down above the scale of the section 5 and:
can play upwards. The latter is attached to a stem exercise 9 stored in a tube 8, which. the latter, emerging from the tube 9 below, with a. , SchwÜm- mer 10, z. B. made of cork.
The float 10 is at the height of the lowest permissible water level. The water level indicator only works when a maximum permissible part of the water has already evaporated.
The dash-dotted line b represents, for example, the water level when the container is full. In this case, the float 10 is against the lower end of the tube 8, the pointer is in the highest position - until the water level is about 10 to the float ken.
With further sinking. the float 10 is also lowered. So the driver of the vehicle can easily determine the water level in the radiator from his driver's seat by means of the downward sliding pointer 7, so that water can be topped up in good time at the first best opportunity. In the lowest position, the stem plane 9 can be supported on an adjustable stop 11.
Two pointers 7 are advantageously arranged, one on each side of the shield 4, so that the water level! can be checked from the driver's seat as well as in front of the radiator. The pointer can be occupied with space or the like. The thermometer 12, which is known per se, is located in the cutout 6.
According to Fig. 2, the lifting movement of the float 10 is transferred to a pointer 14 pivoted about an axis 13, by an ani pointer 14 attached arm with Füh tion 15, into which the upper end of the rod 9 protrudes. The number 14 plays above a scale 16.
It is inevitably connected to the S, chivimmer 10. The means that transmit the movement of the water mirror are also mounted on a Versühlusskappe, and the display units are also housed in a display housing., Instead of:
A pulling organ can step on the rod 9, which is partially wound up on a spool of the pointer, the free end being attached to the float and a spiral spring returning the pointer to the one end position when the swimmer rises to the highest position.
It goes without saying that the water level mechanism can be brought into the Ia.ndel separately or combined with the thermometer.
A signaling device could also be brought into connection with the water level indicator mechanism.
