Tractor for hauling boats. The invention relates to a tractor for the mechanical hauling of boats.
In the accompanying drawing, there is shown, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Figs. 1 and 1a represent in longitudinal and vertical section by half connecting along lines A-A, the tractor as a whole; Fig. 2 shows a vertical cross section taken along the front axis of the tractor; Fig. 3 is a vertical cross section of a variant.
The drawn tractor, with four driving and steering wheels, has two bridges, an anterior axle and a rear axle, arranged on the respective axes of the vehicle, of which fig. 1 shows the front half and fig. 1a the posterior half. Each bridge comprises a casing 10, in which is disposed a differential 11 whose shafts 12, 13 pass through the casing and tubular extensions called trumpets 14 resp. 15 of this one. The wheels 16 are held in place on the shafts 12, 13 by nuts 17 screwed onto these shafts and by discs 18 bolted to the free ends of the trumpets 14, 15. A cylindrical casing B made of cast iron with the housing 10 serves as a vertical shaft bearing cage C carrying the differential drive pinion A.
At the same time, each box B serves as a kingpin for each set of wheels.
Around each housing B is a collar D with smooth friction or rolling; in the two collars engage the ends of a bar F which thus unites the two bridges. On the rear end of the bar F, the side members E of the frame are supported by crossmembers 19 (fig. 1a) and at the front end of the bar F is suspended a rigid frame L. In the The corners of this frame are arranged by rods M engaging in coil springs on which the frame members E of the frame rest. The arrangement of the M-rods and the corresponding springs ensure the stability of the chassis on the front axle while allowing the front of the vehicle to follow the unevenness of the ground without deforming the chassis.
The thrust of the bar F is balanced by a coupling bar G joined to the frame, on the one hand, by means of a rear bar H and, on the other hand, by means of a rod 20 and d 'a flexible coupling 1 provided with a res comes out, giving the assembly sufficient flexibility to match the deformations of the ground (fig. 1). The bar G is attached to two journals 25 made of cast iron respectively with the housings of the two bridges and each provided with a ball joint J. This arrangement also allows the bar G to not undergo any deformation by the level of the ground.
The front axle (fig. 1) can oscillate in the transverse direction around an axis K forming a push bar and joined to the rigid frame L.
Three N tensioners, placed at each bridge, and fixed to the ribs of the trumpets 14, 15 reinforce the bridges.
The rear axle (Fig.1a) has a circular ramp 0 integral with the chassis and resting on rollers P whose axes are fixed to the axle housing and supported by brackets Q. This device gives the assembly great stability and allows to obtain a smoother direction of the vertical axis of this bridge.
Each drive pinion A is controlled by chains R and toothed crowns S S1 receiving their movement from the gearbox 21. The chains will be tensioned by rollers.
The gearbox 21 contains a series of direct gears and an angle wheel T. A double and sliding pinion U wedged on the motor shaft 28 comes to attack one or the other of the gears VV ′ wedged on the secondary shaft 29, which transmits its movement to the angle gears XX 'X' 'by dragging the large double toothed wheel T. This wheel is wedged on a vertical shaft 27 passing through the box 21 from the bottom and carrying the toothed wheels S1 which control the wheels S via the chains R. Two claw sleeves Y Y ', sliding on the secondary shaft, drive one or the other of the angle gears XX' X '' controlling the large wheel toothed T, depending on the direction of travel to be obtained (fig. 1).
Each sleeve is brought into position by a fork (not shown) controlled by a single lever engaging in any of the sectors of the sleeve corresponding to the step that is to be obtained and thus forming a double walker. This device makes it possible to obtain four forward gears and four reverse gears, one of which is large in each direction for empty movements of the tractor.
The maneuver from starting to starting consists of that of the lever controlling the double U pinion. The large angle X pinions attacking the large toothed crown T can still remain in gear.
A Z gear wedged at the end of the secondary shaft is used to control a return transmission of a winch, in the event that the latter is not completely wound up.
The engine placed at the front of the chassis is of any type, but provided with a regulator, preferably one leaving the exhaust valve open when the speed becomes too high. The use of this economical system on a tractor will give advantageous operating conditions, responding to the force absorbed and not to the distance traveled as in the systems established to date.
Each bridge can be attacked by means of an independent electric motor, wedged on the bridge and receiving current, for example, by trolley; this device would be advantageous; it would have no gearbox and a motor would drive the differential directly.
Steering is done by a steering wheel, by cardan or gears, a worm A1 meshing with a toothed wheel B1 secured to a vertical or horizontal roller on which cables or chains are wound or unwound, the ends of which attack. each one of the trumpets 14 or 15 in the manner of a steam roller or a road locomotive.
It is also possible to attack only one set of wheels, their steering movement is returned to the other wheels by the coupling bars 1 and 2 (1 and 2, fig. 1) which connect the bridges by their end; the bar 1, fixed to the left trumpet 15 of the front bridge, connects the rear bridge via the extreme right part; the bar 2 fixed to the right trumpet 14 of the front axle communicates its movement to the extreme left part of the rear axle. These two tie rods of the bridges cross in the middle of their length without touching each other. This rigid device ensures greater cohesion in the direction of the two bridges when they are mounted on four steered wheels and contributes to the stability of the trains, one with respect to the other, better than a chain coupling.
Bars 1 and 2 are connected to the bridges by ball joints.
This chain or cable device can be replaced by a steering bar as for an automobile or a rack.
If the grip of the four-wheel drive is not sufficient, it can be increased by chains, such as curb chain. For friable soils, use will be made of rubberized metal plates L 'retained at the rim by a joint, allowing them to conform to the surface of the ground, which will increase the bearing surface.
It is also possible to use a rigid bridge (FIG. 3) comprising an axle b, the middle part of which forms a frame 22, in which is fixed the differential f whose axis of the pinion g is vertical.
The wheels a movable on the knuckles of the axle b are attacked by the shafts c of the differential f by plates 24 forming one unit with the shafts c and bolted to the hub of the corresponding wheel. A base C 'wedged on the shaft, limits the lateral play of each shaft C. A screw nut d, on the end of each spindle, retains the wheel on it. A base e, made of cast iron with the rocket, stops it on the other side and limits its lateral play.
As in the previous construction, the command is done by chain or any other means; a vertical journal h, made of cast iron with the frame 22 of the axle, receives a ball joint around which the cross member i forming a spring box can oscillate in any direction; a leaf spring j, placed in the cross member, provides flexible suspension of the chassis k at the front; a yoke l housed in each side member of the frame receives the end of the spring thus making it integral with the frame. Each clevis is fixed to the frame by bolts m.
The thrust of the bridge is distributed between the ball joint of the journal h and a lower ball joint o placed on a vertical journal 26 as in the previous embodiment.
All the other organs are similar to the type in fig.2; each bridge is connected to the frame by the same device; this device makes it possible to obtain the four driving and steering wheels while maintaining great stability and great flexibility to follow the deformations of the ground.
