Abstract
L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement de divers matériaux à base de pulpe et de papier, y compris les produits issus de déchets solides et biologiquement dangereux, à l'échelle des municipalités, visant à élaborer un produit cellulosique homogène, selon les étapes suivantes: introduction des matériaux divers en question dans un récipient; injection de vapeur et agitation des matériaux dans le récipient; purge des gaz sous agitation maintenue; mise en étanchéité du récipient par rapport à la pression; saturation des matériaux en vapeur, sous température et pression suffisantes, pour induire une expansion de la structure physique et chimique des matériau, en maintenant l'agitation; dépressurisation pour accroître l'expansion susmentionnée; et évacuation des produits ainsi traités. On peut aussi conduire le procédé sans purge de gaz, si la température est comprise entre environ 140 ·C et environ 160 ·C, et si la pression est comprise environ 275 et 450 kPa. Durant la purge facultative, la dépressurisation, et l'évacuation facultative, on peut capturer et traiter des composés organiques volatils et d'autres polluants atmosphériques. La température, la pression et le temps de traitement suffisent largement pour décontaminer et stériliser des déchets de laboratoire et médicaux biologiquement dangereux.
