Abstract

La fructose-1,6-bisphosphate aldolase (FDA) est une enzyme destinée à catalyser de manière réversible la réaction transformant le triosephosphate en fructose-1,6-bisphosphate. Cette enzyme est située, à l'intérieur d'une feuille, dans le chloroplaste (synthèse de l'amidon), et dans le cytosol (biosynthèse du sucrose). L'invention concerne la production de plantes transgéniques exprimant le gène E. coli fda dans le chloroplaste, afin d'améliorer le rendement végétal par une augmentation de la production de sucrose en général et un accroissement de l'aptitude de la feuille à la biosynthèse de l'amidon en particulier. Tout en ayant une teneur en sucrose inférieure, les feuilles des plantes exprimant le transgène fda présentent une accumulation de l'amidon considérablement supérieure, en comparaison des plantes témoins exprimant le vecteur nul, en particulier au début de la durée d'éclairement. Ces plantes transgéniques possèdent également une masse de racines sensiblement supérieure. Les pommes de terre transgéniques exprimant le gène fda présentent en outre une uniformité de solides améliorée.
