Abstract

The said industrial design consists of the shape, ornamentation, pattern and configuration of a briefcase which is generally symmetrical about a central laterally extending vertical plane; the briefcase in a closed position has generally parallel end surfaces and generally parallel top and bottom surfaces with rounded corners between the top, bottom and end surfaces;the front surface has a forwardly extending front panel section having wedge-like pleated side surfaces and a front surface which tapers inwardly from top to bottom and merges into the bottom surface of the briefcase; the front panel section has an overlapping top panel portion having a rounded upper end; the overlapping top panel portion extends part way down the front panel section and has a curved lower edge; a central generally rectangular closure portion overlaps the lower edge of the overlapping top panel portion and the adjacent front surface of the front panel section; the flat upper surface of the closure portion has a small circular area adjacent each of the corners thereof and a larger circular area between the lower small circular areas;the top surface of the briefcase has a central upwardly extending arched handle portion situated closer to the rear surface than to the front surface of the briefcase; a slide fastener extends the length of the top surface between the arched handle portion and the front surface, and then extends along the side surfaces and then a short distance along the bottom surface to a central generally rectangular bottom surface section; the lower corners of the front and rear surfaces have generally identical raised areas each having a wavy inner edge;each end surface has a slightly wavy edge extending the width thereof on either side of the slide fastener, the wavy edges being situated close to the rounded corners between the end surfaces and the top surface of the briefcase.In the open position, the inner surface of the briefcase presents a main panel with a slide fastener extending along each side thereof close to the end surfaces of the briefcase; a narrow elongated panel with generally parallel longitudinal edges and rounded ends extends inwardly a short distance from the top surface and extends most of the length of the inside of the briefcase.The strap portion of the drawings in stippled lines do not form part of the drawings.Representations of the design are shown in the figures wherein:Fig. 1 is a front and right end perspective view of the design of a briefcase in a closed position;Fig. 2 is a top view thereof;Fig. 3 is a front view thereof;Fig. 4 is a left end view thereof;Fig. 5 is a right end view thereof;Fig. 6 is a rear view thereof;Fig. 7 is a bottom view thereof; andFig. 8 is a perspective view of the interior of the briefcase in an open position.Diagrams of the design are included.
