Abstract

"PROCESSO PARA PRODUZIR UM éSTER DE CELULOSE CARBOXILADA A PARTIR DE CELULOSE OXIDADA, BUTIRATO DE ACETATO DE CELULOSE CARBOXILADA, PROPIONATO DE ACETATO DE CELULOSE CARBOXILADA, ACETATO DE CELULOSE CARBOXILADA, COMPOSIçãO DE REVESTIMENTO, PROCESSO PARA DISPERSAR UM PIGMENTO, E, DISPERSãO DE PIGMENTO PRODUZIDA PELO MESMO" Um processo para preparar um éster de celulose carboxilada da celulose oxidada é descrito. Os ésteres de celulose carboxilada têm solubilidade em solventes e compatibilidade com a resina de revestimento melhoradas, em comparação com os ésteres de celulose produzidos da celulose de graduação regular. O processo compreende ativar a celulose oxidada com água. A celulose oxidada ativada é, então, desidratada substituindo-se a água por ácido acético e, opcionalmente, substituindo-se pelo menos algum ácido acético por ácido butírico ou ácido propiónico. Após a desidratação, a celulose ativada é reagida com um reagente de esterificação na presença de um catalisador, a cerca de 0°C. A temperatura é gradualmente aumentada a um nível suficiente para completar a reação e para obter uma viscosidade intrínseca variando de cerca de 0,2 a cerca de 1,6 dl/g. A solução reagida é então hidrolisada para se obter um teor de hidroxila variando de cerca de 0,05 a cerca de 1,0. O catalisador é neutralizado com um agente neutralizador e a solução é opcionalmente filtrada e o éster de celulose carboxilada é então precipitado com um agente de precipitação. A invenção também diz respeito a ésteres de celulose carboxilada preparados pelo processo descrito acima, bem como a composições de revestimento de sólidos elevados contendo os ésteres de celulose carboxilada produzidos pelo processo acima.
