"APARELHO PARA CARREGAR UMA BATERIA, E, PROCESSOS PARA DETECTAR A PRESENçA DE UMA BATERIA CONECTADA COM UM SISTEMA DE CARREGAR DE BATERIA E PARA CONTROLAR UM COMUTADOR DE CONTROLE DE POTêNCIA DE UM SISTEMA DE CARREGAR DE BATERIA". Um aparelho para carregar uma bateria tem um terminal de fornecimento de energia, um comutador de controle de potência controlável acoplado com o terminal de fornecimento de energia, um circuito de carregar tendo um terminal de carregar para conexão com um terminal da bateria, e dispositivos para abrir e fechar o comutador de controle de potência se uma bateria está desconectada ou conectada com o terminal de carregar, respectivamente. O dispositivo para abrir e fechar o comutador de controle de potência pode incluir um circuito, analógico, um circuito digital, um circuito híbrido digital/analógico ou um comutador mecânico.
