Abstract
"FREIO DE EXAUSTãO". Um freio de exaustão (10) para um motor de combustão interna é descrito. As superfícies internas do freio de exaustão (10) são formatadas de forma aerodinâmica para reduzir a incidência de fluxo turbulento através do freio de exaustão (10). O formato da passagem interna (102) através do alojamento de freio (100) pode ser ditado pela exigência da manutenção de um fluxo o mais próximo de um fluxo laminar possível através da passagem (102) quando a válvula de freio (200) está aberta. Os alojamentos de freio ideais (100) da passagem interna (102) podem ser determinados para freios de exaustão dos vários formatos e tamanhos. Os formatos ideais podem ser tipificados como possuindo espessuras de paredes não uniforme. Os formatos ideais das superfícies de freio interno, incluindo os da válvula (200), também poderm ser tipificados pela eliminação das bordas quadradas (que acionam a turbulência). O fluxo ideal através do freio de exaustão (10) também pode ser obtido pela redução do volume no fluxo de exaustão (minimização do perfil da válvula (200) no fluxo quando a válvula (200) está aberta). A válvula (200) preferivelmente possui um perfil afunilado, que pode ajudar a reduzir a contribuição da válvula (200) para o fluxo turbulento no freio (10).
