Abstract

O presente documento revela cepas modificadas de espécies de microalgas Chlorella, as cepas modificadas tendo um teor reduzido de quitina. Também é revelado um método para produção das mesmas. O método envolve a realização de mutagênese de uma cepa de origem da microalga. Além disso, é revelada uma composição compreendendo biomassa de algas derivada das cepas modificadas e seu uso em alimentos e/ou cosméticos entre outras aplicações. As vantagens do baixo teor de quitina incluem auxiliar na digestibilidade e disponibilidade de nutrientes do ingrediente de célula na forma integral, sem processamento a jusante.
