novas células progenitoras do fígado adulto (denominadas células tronco h2) têm sido caracterizadas com base numa série de atividades biológicas e marcadores. os métodos para a produção de células tronco h2 permitem proporcionar tais células na forma de células aderentes e aglomerados de células tridimensionais em suspensão que podem ser diferenciadas em células que tem fortes atividades específicas do fígado e/ou que podem ser utilizadas no tratamento de doenças hepáticas ou para avaliar a eficácia, o metabolismo e/ou a toxicidade de um composto.
