Abstract
"CéLULA ALCALINA PRIMáRIA". Uma célula alcalina tendo um alojamento plano, preferivelmente de forma cúbica. A célula pode ter um anodo compreendendo zinco e um anodo compreendendo MnO~ 2~- O alojamento pode ter uma espessura relativamente pequena, tipicamente entre 5 e 10 mm. Os conteúdos da célula podem ser supridos através de uma extremidade aberta no alojamento e de um conjunto de tampa terminal inserido na mesma para vedar a célula. O conjunto de tampa terminal inclui um membro de vedação isolante tendo uma saia circunferencial, que circunda as porções amplas do coletor de corrente do anodo. Isto provê uma barreira entre as referidas porções amplas do coletor de corrente e do alojamento da célula. O conjunto de tampa terminal inclui um mecanismo de exaustão, que pode ser ativado quando a pressão de gás no interior da célula alcança um nível, de modo típico, entre cerca de 100 e 300 psig (6,89 x 10¬ 5¬ e 20,69 x 10¬ 5¬ pascal manométrico). O catodo pode ser formado de uma pluralidade de chapas empilhadas tendo centros ocos, que formam um núcleo central com o material do anodo colocado no mesmo. Um separador está entre o anodo e o catodo. O alojamento pode ser de aço tendo uma espessura de parede, de modo desejável, de entre 0, 30 e 0,45 mm.
