Esta invenção refere-se a um processo para aprodução de acetato de <244>-tocoferol em um processo derecirculação por condensação de trimetil-hidroquinona e isofitol napresença de um sistema de catalisador que consiste em um haletode zinco e um ácido protónico aquoso e, opcionalmente, um metalelementar, em uma mistura solvente polar/água extraível oumiscível com água, e subseq³ente acilação do <244>-tocoferolresultante e recirculação do sistema de catalisador.
