<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"Improvements made to sheaths and conduits for any fluids"
The present invention relates to improvements made to sheaths and conduits for any fluids and in particular for sheaths of air conduits for ventilation, heating, etc.
Sheaths intended for the aforementioned applications are already known, produced using sheets assembled by welding, rivets, or other mechanical means. These sheaths are manufactured in the workshop, according to determined lengths, the sections thus obtained being then shipped to the sites where they are assembled according to a pre-established plan.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The major drawback of this type of manufacture lies in the handling difficulties and mainly in the prohibitive bulk of the sections during transport. Under an extremely large volume, only a limited weight of material can be shipped.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to allow the manufacture of robust, airtight and aesthetic sheaths and conduits, capable of being mass-produced in the workshop, of being shipped, dismantled under a very low volume hence high profitability of transport, and finally to be assembled on site at the site in an extremely easy way, without the need to employ specialized personnel *
The mass production of numerous standard elements of various sizes ensures a low cost price and allows installers to carry out the most diverse installations with great flexibility.
The sheaths and conduits according to the invention use a particularly original form. ginalê the well-known assembly principle of two sheets with adjacent rectilinear edges, one of said edges being suitably rolled and folded, so as to present an introductory groove in which is inserted the complementary rim of the neighboring sheet. This second rim comprises, from place to place, "punctures", the elastic tongues of which are erased on insertion into the aforementioned bleeding, and come
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
then protrude behind an appropriate rim of the adjacent sheet, in order to ensure the final locking of the assembly.
In accordance with the invention, the sheaths thus improved are essentially characterized by the fact that they comprise walls assembled according to the principle defined above, with a view to constituting the section, two contiguous sections being joined together in a sealed manner. by means of assembly members consisting essentially of angles and profiles adapted on the periphery of each section opening according to a principle similar to the assembly of the sheets themselves constituting the sheaths themselves.
According to a particularity of the invention, the angle brackets, fixed to the angular parts of the re @@ phéris of the openings of the ducts, have suitably folded parts covering the thickness of the duct sheet, on which they are immobilized thanks to the locking of the aforementioned "punctures", said angles having more appendages, on which come to bear the profiles inserted between two successive angles, the profiles of said parts being studied in such a way that the sur 'this tiors of said profiles constitute the extension of the outer surfaces of said angles.
@@ ion another peculiarity of the invention, it is provided, following the longitudinal center line of the angles and sections, a groove in
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
which can be inserted a bead of mastic, this arrangement ensuring a tight assembly of two adjacent sections of sheath.
According to yet another feature, the assembly of two consecutive sections of sheath takes place by bolts, introduced simultaneously through corresponding holes made in the angles and the profiles forming the assembly frames of said neighboring sections.
The description which will follow, made with reference to the accompanying drawings given by way of nonlimiting examples, will make it clear how the present invention can be put into practice.
FIG. 1 is a schematic perspective view of a sheet constituting sheaths combined with the invention.
FIG. 2 is a partial schematic perspective view of two sheets assembled according to the principle used by the ducts according to the invention.
Figure 3 is a view according to Figure 2 after assembly of the two sheets.
FIG. 4 represents an assembled quadrangular sheath following the principle of FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, on the opening of which suitably profiled angles have been locked at the right of the four angles.
Figures 5 and 6 are respectively views from below and in elevation of an angle bracket such as that shown in Figure 4.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
FIG. 7 represents an assembly identical to FIG. 4, the continuity between the angles having been achieved by means of profiles extending them and just inserting between them.
FIG. 8 is a schematic perspective view of a section of lying duct, showing the angles and the junction sections from the face opposite to the assembly face with a neighboring section.
FIG. 9 schematically represents the assembly of the complementary sealed junction profiles belonging to two neighboring sheath sections.
FIG. 10 represents a possible variant embodiment of a sheath bypass, implementing the means according to the invention.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, there is seen at 1 a flat sheet, one end of which has a flange 2 which is suitably rolled up and folded over, while the other end 3 has a flat folded flange. Such a rim 3 has from place to place "punctures" such as 4, projecting from the internal side of the fold. The rim 2 of the neighboring sheet has a groove 5 intended to receive the rim 3, the "punctures" 4 being intended to come to lock behind the longitudinal fold 6. The assembly shown in FIG. 3 is therefore done simply by introducing the flat edge of a sheet into the folded edge of the neighboring sheet, automatic locking being obtained at the end of the stroke.
The same principle of assembly by "punctures" and folds of sheet metal is used to mount on the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
edge of the sheath 7 shown in Figure 4, corner angles 8, 9, 10 and 11, one of them having been shown in detail in Figures 5 and 6. It is seen in Figure 4 under the references 4 the punctures made in the edges of the opening to receive the corni @ on the one hand and the complementary profiles 12, 13, 14 and 15 on the other hand, shown in FIG. 7 and ensuring continuity entered the angles to form the junction frame of a sheath with the neighboring sheath.
It can be seen in Figures 5 and 6, that each corner angle is formed by the assembly of two profiles at 90, on the one hand a profile, internal 16 terminated by two appendages 16a and 16b, and on the other hand a profile external 17 which has just been capped and on which it is welded, the sectional profile of which will be noted on the left part of FIG. 6. This sectional profile presents, according to the principle of assembly of the sheets, recalled in FIGS. 1 to 3 , a groove 5 and a longitudinal fold 6, the groove 5 being intended to fit on the edge of one of the sheets constituting the sheath 7, while the "punctures" 4 come to lock elastically behind the longitudinal fold 6 .
A clearance 18, ootenu by stamping in the internal angular part of the angle iron, is intended to receive the extra thickness appearing to the right of the assembly of the two orthogonal flats housed in the two grooves 5.
The appendages 16a and 16b are intended to receive and center the ends of sections
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
such as 12, 13, 14 and 15. Holes such as 19 are made in the angles in order to be able to assemble them one against the other, from one end of the sheath to the end of the neighboring sheath. Similar holes are made vis-à-vis the corresponding sections 12, 13, 14 and 15 of two neighboring junction frames, belonging to consecutive sheath sections. A longitudinal groove such as 20 is made along the center line of the angles and of the profiles forming the junction frame, in order to be able to receive a bead of mastic 21 ensuring the tightness of the junction between two successive sheaths.
It is possible, according to the assembly principle according to the invention, to produce sheath junctions of any shape, nature and dimension, as has been shown by way of example in FIG. 10.
It goes without saying that it is possible, without departing from the scope of the present invention, to make any modification to the embodiments which have just been described.
