EMI1.1

<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

d'isolation thermique et/ou acoustique ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
EMI8.1
meme A 150 d'un second flan ;

EMI1.1
METALLIC ELEMENT CONSISTING OF U-PROFILES FORMING A FRAMEWORK OF A SHEATH FOR THE TRANSPORT OF GASEOUS FLUIDS.
The present invention relates to a metal element consisting of a first U-shaped profile fitted into a second profile also U-shaped, a wing of the first profile being secured to an adjacent wing of the second profile by removal in a folded edge At 150 from this second profile, so as to form a rigid assembly intended to be assembled by means of flat brackets to other similar elements to form a rectangular framework on which are mounted by removal of the sheets forming the walls of a sheath designed for the transport of gaseous fluids and optionally provided with acoustic and / or thermal insulation.
The element according to the invention finds its main application in the manufacture of ventilation ducts, ventilation or any transport of gaseous fluid for example in a dust collection station.
EMI1.2
rage where it serves as a rigid frame serving both as an assembly flange and as a stiffener.
The aforementioned element is also suitable for the manufacture of ducts, fitted with acoustic and / or thermal insulation, in particular ducts for supplying fresh air possibly preheated or cooled in ventilation and air conditioning systems.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Belgian patent No. 892,865 already discloses frames for ventilation and ventilation ducts made up of elements each made up of two U-shaped profiles, fitted one inside the other and secured to one another by a member lateral wings of the interior profile folded outwardly at 180 ′ on the single, non-folded edge of the exterior profile.
The main disadvantage of these frames
EMI2.1
naked are their tendency to degrade and to dismantle I when dragging the sheathing reassembled on the ground and this despite the punching or possible riveting of this recess.
The present invention aims to remedy this drawback.
To carry out the assembly of the sections constituting a metal element to each other, it suggests folding inwards, the end of the wing folded back at 150 so as to form a corresponding gap on this edge. to the thickness of the sheets forming the walls and optionally a simple rim and a second U-shaped profile 6 having a wing with a non-folded edge, assembled to the first profile mentioned above by member in the aforementioned gap.
According to a feature of the invention, the folded edge of the outer profile is folded back 150 towards the inner side of the profile6, forming along the wing a gap whose opening corresponds to the thickness of the wing. of the second profile. The two aforementioned profiles are assembled by interlocking.
In a particular embodiment of
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
embodiment, the lateral wings of the aforementioned profiles are parallel and arranged at a distance corresponding to the thickness of the sheet and of the thermal and / or acoustic insulation layer.
It avoids the formation of sharp edges and prevents relatively dangerous sharp edges detrimental to a good finish of the sheath.
It also ensures the flatness of the back of the aforementioned frame, which is intended to serve as a flange for the assembly of two sheaths, and essential for obtaining a good seal.
It also gives the cladding excellent rigidity and an excellent finish since no more projecting edges are visible.
The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing the element described above. This process is essentially characterized in that it comprises a profiling by knurling wheels to fold down at 1500 an edge of a first blank so as to form a gap, a profiling with the press brake in order to border the other edge of said blank and to profile the angle iron thus obtained in U, a profiling With the press brake of a second blank so as to form a second U-shaped profile, the assembly by insertion of one of the lateral wings in the above-mentioned gap and the fixing of the two profiles by stamping the assembly flange.
An advantage of this process lies in the great flexibility of the sheets vis-à-vis the machines and the tools used for the manufacture of the elements constituting these flanges.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The shaping of the sheets can be done on a stamping machine capable of being implemented for any profile model of any size From a sheet of nature and thickness freely chosen.
It therefore becomes possible to use the same roll forming machine for the manufacture of a specific profile in stainless steel on the one hand, and in aluminum on the other hand.
Other particularities and details of the invention will appear during the following detailed description, in which reference is made to the appended drawings which illustrate, by way of nonlimiting example, two embodiments of a metal element according to the invention. 'invention.
In these drawings: FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a metallic element with a folded edge according to the invention and of a sheet intended to form the wall of a ventilation duct; Figure 2 is a perspective view with partial section of a sheath provided with a frame according to the invention; Figure 3 is a cross section of two elements similar to that shown in Figure 1, assembled together by a joint cover Figure 4 is a section similar to that of Figure 2, illustrating the assembly of sheaths provided

thermal and / or acoustic insulation;
Figures 5 to 8 illustrate the manufacture of a
Frame element for a ventilation duct without thermal or acoustic insulation.
In these different figures, the same numbers designate identical or analogous elements.
As shown in FIG. 1, the metal element according to the invention is made up of two U-shaped profiles, fitted one inside the other and secured to one another by recess as described above. These profiles 16 are each designated as a whole by the respective reference notations 1 and 2. The first profile 6 1 has at the extremity of a wing 3 a flange 5 folded A 150. The rim 5 forms a first gap 7 corresponding to the thickness of the sheets forming the walls. The second profile 2 accol6 to the first has two side wings 8,9, one of which is a single edge that is not folded down.
Said profiles 1, 2 are assembled by inserting the lateral wing 8 into the gap 7.
The lateral wings 4 and 9 of the element thus formed are parallel and form a second gap 10 corresponding to the thickness of the sheets forming the walls of the above sheath. The extremist 6 of the wing 4 is advantageously folded down to 300.
This metallic element designated as a whole by the reference notation 11 is assembled at right angles to other similar elements by means of flat brackets to form a rigid rectangular frame 13 (FIG. 2).
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Tolets 14, preferably of the same metal or alloy as the frame, for example made of stainless steel, galvanized steel or aluminum, are mounted by recess in the gap 10 formed along the inner edge of the frame. These sheets 14 then form the walls of an aeration, ventilation duct or an envelope designed for the transport of gaseous fluid.
These sheets 14 are held in place in the gap 10 by projections 15 which have been printed there, for example by stamping, at a regular distance from the edge of the sheets 14. The fixing of the sheets 14 is reinforced by the use of rivets 16.
A rectangular framework is thus obtained, the exterior surface of which is smooth. There are no protruding edges likely to get caught on a rough pavement when dragging the sheath along the ground. The aforementioned framework can be assembled with other similar frameworks by the frame 13 serving both as an assembly flange and as a stiffener. Figure 2 shows in perspective a sheath. A partial cut is made in the upper element 11 of the frame.
Figure 3 illustrates the assembly of two sheaths similar to that described above. This figure is limited to representing the upper element 11, 11 ′ of the frame 13, 13 ′ of each of the two above-mentioned sheaths. The frames 13, 13 'are pressed back to back against a seal 17, made of a strip of elastic material placed on the edge of the frame 13.
They are held in place with the aid of a joint cover 18 made up of a profile C which is slid along the outer edges of the frames 13, 13'susdes.
In a second embodiment, the ele-
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
ment according to the invention is used to mount a sheath provided with insulation. This element consists of two profiles 1, 2 in U, similar to those used in the first embodiment, With the difference that the second profile in U, has a wider core than in the first embodiment. The two profiles 1, 2 above are assembled by embolage.
Figure 4 is similar to that of Figure 3. It illustrates the assembly of two sheaths provided with insulation 19. As can be seen in the
EMI7.1
Figure 4, the blanks of the frames 13, 13 'of these two sheaths are perfectly flat, so that the assembly will be perfectly sealed.
The aforementioned joint covers 18 can even be used for assembling the frames of a sheath provided with insulation and a sheath without insulation.
The fabrication of the metal elements according to the invention comprises the following operations: - decoupling of the sheets, for example with guillotine shears or roller shears; the shaping of the blanks thus obtained in 5 stages: 1) profiling by knurling wheels to fold at 1800 an edge 5 of a first blank so as to form a gap 7 whose opening corresponds to the thickness of the wing of a second blank (Figure 5); 2) profiling with the universal press brake of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
angle iron to obtain a first U-shaped profile 1 (FIG. 7); 3) the profiling by means of a knurled edge folded over it-
EMI8.1
even at 150 from a second blank;
4) profiling with a press brake the second blank so as to obtain a second U-shaped profile 2, - assembly by insertion of one of the lateral wings 8 of the second profile 6 2 in the gap 7 formed in the first profile 1 (Figure 8), finally, the fixing of the two profiles 1, 2 by stamping the assembly flange.
The advantages set out in Belgian Patent No. 892,865 are retained, since the process only involves machines which do not require any adjustment inherent in the various totes used of substantially identical thickness.
The process allows standardization of the various parts used and in particular of the joint covers.
It is obvious that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described above and that numerous modifications can be made to the shapes, dimensions and arrangement of the profiles used in the fabrication of the metal elements according to the invention. .
