<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Weldable plastic bag with longitudinal folds folded inwards.
The invention relates to bags of weldable plastic material with longitudinal folds folded inwards. Such longitudinal folds are frequently provided in plastic bags. Their purpose is to give the filled bag a more or less box-like shape. The invention is not limited to specific sizes of bags and also relates to small bags.
Frequently these bags are made by blowing a pipe into which, in a well known manner, the mentioned longitudinal folds are already placed on the outlet of the extruder. The
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The installation of the longitudinal folds folded inwards is sometimes also done after the winding of the pipe in a separate operation and, if necessary, immediately before the manufacture of the bags starting from a pipe.
The manufacture of the bags from a single pipe, not provided with longitudinal folds folded towards the inside, can be done very simply in the sense that the end of the pipe which must form the bottom of the bag is formed by welding , thanks to which the two side walls of the bags are welded together. Most often these bags are designed as a valve bag and closed at both ends by welding. Until now, it has been manufactured in the same way, starting from pipes with bags with longitudinal folds folded inwards, namely by providing sections of pipe with welding in the direction transverse to the pipe, in such a way that the bag material is welded in the region of the longitudinal folds in a quadruple layer and to the rest in a double layer.
Bags thus produced have the disadvantage that the strength of the seal where the sheet has only two layers is quite different from that where it has four layers and that when the seal passes from four to eight layers. layers there are very unfavorable conditions of stress under the action of loads.
The invention proposes to eliminate this drawback.
According to the invention, the bag provided with longitudinal folds folded inwards is closed at its end by a weld that is continuous throughout and only in two layers. In the event that the pipe out of which the bag is made is already provided with longitudinal folds folded inward, they are pulled or pressed out to form the weld. In case the pipe does not have any folds, longitudinal folds inwardly these are preferably put in place after formation of the weld. After forming the weld each of the outer sides of the bag with the portion adjacent to the folded fold inward is preferably welded at a location above the edge.
The edge of the bag can then take an upward slanting shape in the region of the longitudinal folds folded inward. @ @
