Welding bonding process. sealed from the wall and the bottom of a large tank intended to receive a fluid, and device for implementing this process. The present invention relates to a method for sealing the wall and the bottom by sealed welding of a large-sized reservoir intended to receive a fluid, and to a device for implementing this method.
This process is characterized in that a preliminary deformation is created in the part of the wall situated at the level of the bottom, in the direction of the thrust which the fluade will exert on this wall, and in that the connection by welding between wall and bottom is then carried out while maintaining the preliminary -deformation in the wall, all so that the connection by welding does not undergo any tearing force under the pressure of the fluid contained in the reservoir.
The device for implementing this method is characterized by members making it possible to adjust the preliminary deformation of the part of the wall situated at the level of the bottom.
The appended drawing illustrates, by way of example, an embodiment of the method according to the invention and represents, also by way of example, an embodiment of a device for the implementation, of this process.
Figs. 1 and 2 are partial vertical sections of the tank of a gasometer, respectively before and after the welding of the cylindrical wall to the circular bottom of this tank. Fig. 3 is a partial horizontal section along A-A of FIG. 2.
The tank bottom shown comprises a concrete slab 1 bordered by a. profiled iron 2 on which is: welded a sheet 3 provided with stiffeners 5 embedded in the concrete.
Here is, for example, how one can proceed to weld the cylindrical wall 4 of the tank to the bottom: This cylindrical wall 4 is provided at its lower part with threaded holes 7 directed radially and distributed over the entire circumference of the wall. Screws are screwed into these holes, the ends of which rest on the profiled iron 2 forming the edge of the bottom. The heads of these screws are arranged on the outside.
A circular wedge 8 is prepared ready to be inserted between the flange of the profiled iron 2 and the , interior surface @of wall 4. The thickness of this wedge is determined so as to correspond at least to the diametrical elongation which the free wall would undergo under the effect of an internal pressure equal to that of the fluid which will fill the reservoir.
The screws 6 are then gradually tightened until the shim 8 can be put in position. Loosening the screws then tightens the. hold.
The joint is then formed by welding the wedge to the bottom by a weld line and to the wall by another weld line, and this joint is completed by a third weld line between the wall and the lower flange of the profiled iron .
Finally, the screws 6 can be removed and the threaded holes 7 closed, either by threaded plugs or by welding.
The advantage of this method is that it creates an initial circum.ferential deformation in the lower part of the wall so that when the tank is filled, the hard pits are not subjected to any pullout force.
In this way, the mechanical resistance and the tightness of the weld offer absolute safety.
The joint could also be made with a single weld line, when the space produced between the wall and the bottom is not too wide, or even with a shim, but only two weld lines.
It should be noted that the deformed part of the wall can be deformed by traction as well. than by compression, the latter case occurring, for example, for the inner wall of the annular shaped tank.
