<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to an improved horizontal boiler for central heating with oil or other liquid.
According to the invention, such a boiler comprises, in main order, a cylindrical body disposed horizontally and comprising a water tank of U-shaped section, disposed horizontally with water inlet and outlet tubes. and consisting of at least one annular water chamber then traversed by hot gas tubes, but advantageously of two concentric annular water chambers, closed or closed at one of their ends, but opening at their other end into the rear radial wall of a water chamber forming the bottom of the boiler, while the opposite radial wall closes the hot gas manifold connected to the starting chimney, in the:
radial peripheral sone of the rear radial wall of the front base connecting to the water chamber (s) forming the branches of the U-shaped section of the boiler and in its central part facing forward, the stingers of the flames of the fuel oil fireplace or other arranged inside a cylindrical jacket or envelope in one or more pieces, made of a refractory material and placed freely in the interior of the cylindrical body with the circumstance that its front end is stopped at an appropriate distance from the wall facing the front base of the boiler, while its rear end joins the inner face of the removable base or rear cover of the boiler, so as to force the hot gases emerging from the 'free outlet opening of the refractory envelope to follow from this point,
an inverted S-shaped path (2) allowing them to give up their heat to the device with concentric longitudinal walls enclosing the water chamber of the boiler proper to then be evacuated, through the water chamber forming the bottom before the boiler, in the outlet manifold at the chimney.
Another characteristic falling within the scope of the present patent lies in the design of a water circulation hinge making it possible to form, in the hollow rear base of the cylindrical body, a water chamber communicating with the actual boiler. . This is particularly interesting for the easy visit of the interior of the boiler for cleaning without dismantling the pipes connecting the chamber to its rear base which thus conditioned, allows additional heat recovery which is very appreciable for boilers of a certain importance.
the envisaged boiler also allows it to be executed in several sections or additional removable elements, which allows, depending on the circumstances, to be added or removed from the cylindrical body, to increase or decrease the heating capacity of the latter
In order to bring out the above description more clearly, the appended schematic drawings represent the construction of a horizontal central heating boiler with its variants and construction details.
For this purpose, FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section in elevation in a horizontal boiler comprising two concentric water chambers.
Fig. 2 shows a sectional elevation along II - II, Fig.l, in the cylindrical body.
Fig. 3 represents a section similar to that of FIG. 2, in a construction variant comprising an annular water chamber traversed longitudinally by hot gas tubes.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig.4 shows a section similar to that of Fig.3, in which the water chamber is crossed by two series of hot gas tubes in quionunce and placed 'concentrically.
Fig. 5 represents the plan view of a boiler comprising an articulated rear base, forming a water chamber connected by hinges to the water chamber constituting the boiler proper, seen in broken lines from the position of the turned cover of 90 to the outside to give access to the inside of the boiler.
Fig.6 shows an elevational view and partially in section along VI - VI, Fig.5.
Fig. 7 is a front elevational view of the bottom or rear cover with water circulation of Fig. 5.
Fig. 8 shows a schematic sectional elevation and on a larger scale of the type of water circulation hinge shown in Figs. 5, 6, 7.
FIG. 9 schematically represents a cylindrical boiler body made up of several juxtaposing cylindrical elements or sections, connecting one after the other.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, the cylindrical body of the boiler is represented by 1. This body 1 comprises in 1 comprises in the example an interior bottom 2 constituting a water chamber with a radial wall an front 5 and posterior radial wall 6. In the peripheral zone of the radial face of wall 6, the anterior ends of concentric annular water chambers 3 and 4 are formed, the rear ends 3a and 4a of which are closed. . At 15 and 16 are shown the outlet and inlet pipes of the water pipe.
At the front at 13 is shown the starting manifold with the hot gas chimney forming the bottom or cover of the cylindrical body 1, and at 11 its rear cover-provided with an opening 19 through which the head enters. of the oil or other liquid burner 14, supplying the oil furnace 12 formed by an annular casing of a refractory material 8 resting by longitudinal ribs 8a on the wall of the water chamber 4, the front end 9 of which is arranged freely at a certain distance from the radial face 6, advantageously protected by a protective covering 6a of suitable nature against the too violent darts of the flames of the hearth 12, while the rear end 10 joins the inner face of the cover wall or rear base 11.
This arrangement enables a hot gas chamber 49 between 6 and 9 to be produced at the front of the hearth 12 and an annular hot gas chamber 48 at the rear.
Thus the trajectory of the hot gases formed in the hearth 12, strikes the wall 6, then is established in return following 17 by heating the underside of the annular chamber 4 to end in the rear chamber 48, where operating a return towards the 'forward in the opposite direction through 18, it heats the bottom wall of the annular water chamber 3 and the top wall facing the water chamber 4. The hot gases then pass through pipes 7 through the chamber of radial water constituting the bottom 2 of the boiler to flow into the hot gas manifold 13 closed on one side by the wall 5 of the bottom 2 and open on the other side to the outlet chimney The small arrows indicate the route of this hot gas trajectory.
In the variant embodiment shown in section in Fig. 39 to the annular water chambers 3 and 4, a single chamber 20 traversed longitudinally by heating tubes 21 originating at the rear in chamber 480 is replaced.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In Fig. 4, there is shown a variant of Fig. 3, in which there are two series of heating tubes 21a and 21b, arranged in staggered rows and placed one above the other.
In the example, there are two series of tubes but there may be more.,
The ends 13 respectively 11 of the ends of the cylindrical body 1 are removable and attached by bolts or other faxing means.
In Fgi. 5, 6, 7, another constructive modality of the boiler has been shown in the sense that for larger diameter boilers, it is advantageous to use as additional heating chamber, the bottom or rear cover of the cylindrical body, while allowing, without dismantling the pipes, the movement of this bottom or cover for cleaning.
For this purpose, the solid bottom 11 of Fig.l, is replaced in Figs.5 to 7, a hollow bottom or cover 11a forming a water chamber connected in its upper and lower parts to the corresponding parts. of the boiler itself.
In the example, the boiler is provided at the rear with pipes 27 respectively 28 which can be replaced by the water outlet and inlet pipes 15 respectively 16 of the boiler itself.
In order to better understand the envisaged hinge device, Fig. 8 represents this hinge device in section, where 30 represents a pipe connected to the boiler and 33, a pipe connected to the cover or bottom. In the example, the end 31 of the pipe 30 is supported by 31 on a seal 32 housed in the groove of an annular cup 34 integral with the end of the pipe 33, so that the orifice of the latter engages in the orifice facing the end of the pipe 30.
The assembly being as indicated, a U-shaped jumper 35 is placed on the branch 36 which is provided with a pressure screw 38, one end of which 39 is intended to bear at 40 on the outer periphery of the arm. the pipe 30, while the end of the other branch 41 is provided with a support stud 42 at 43 on the outer periphery of the pipe 33.
It can easily be seen that by tightening the screw 38, the pipes 30 and 33 are brought into one another, at the same time as the edge 31 presses on the seal 32 to maintain this seal. chéity, although pipes 30 and 31 are filled with water at the pressure of the boiler.
It will be understood that in this way along the X - Y axis, the pipes 30 and 31 can be displaced angularly with respect to one another while maintaining the tightness controlled by the pressure given by the screw 38.
The application of this water circulation hinge is found in Figs. 5 to 7, where the bottom 11a remains connected to the water circulation of the boiler, and even as shown in broken lines in fig. 5, when it is moved angularly along the arrow a.
To achieve the articulation of the cover 11a, its upper part is provided with a water intake 29a extending through the pipe 33a and its lower part with a water intake 29b extending through the pipe 33b. .
In the upper part of the cover 11a the pipe 33a connected to the water intake 29a carries the sealing cup 34 in which
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
immerses the end of the pipe 30a connected to the pipe 27 of the boiler, while in its lower part the pipe 33b connected to the water intake 29b carries a sealing cup 34 in which the end of the the pipe 30b connected to the pipe 28 of the boiler
By adjusting the jumpers 35 as shown in Fig. 8, see Fig. 7, hinge axes X - Y are made, in alignment with each other to constitute the axis of the hinges. hinge of the cover 11a with respect to the cylindrical body 1.
The assembly bolts or other means provided and referred to above will be removed beforehand to allow the cover or bottom 11a to move in a rotary angular direction and thus give free access to the entire interior of the boiler.
In Fig. 9 there is shown a boiler constituted for example of three removable and interchangeable elements la, 1b, 1c communicating with each other, but there may be less or more to form a boiler of greater capacity. which can be reduced or increased at will according to the goals and circumstances.
The water chambers of these elements will, for example, be fitted with connecting laces 45 above and 46 below with appropriate gaskets and tightening bolts 47.
In summary, one should consider, within the scope of the present patent, an improved horizontal boiler for central heating by oil or other liquid, characterized by the following.
CLAIMS.
1) Improved horizontal boiler for central heating with oil or other liquid, characterized in that it comprises a cylindrical body arranged horizontally, comprising a water tank of longitudinal section in the form of U and in the interior of which is freely disposed a heating oil or other liquid consisting of a cylindrical casing of a refractory material, the front end of which opens out at a certain distance from the rear radial face of the water chamber forming the front bottom of the boiler proper, so that the hot gases leaving the orifice of the oil-fired fireplace are directed from the front onto the face of the radial wall at the back of the front bottom of the 'boiler' itself, then flow from the front to the rear, then from the rear forward,
along the device with concentric longitudinal walls constituting the water chamber of the boiler proper, to then be discharged through the water chamber forming the front bottom of the boiler, into the outlet manifold of the hot gas at the fireplace.
