<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to a shutter for tubes or similar containers, containing materials in powder or paste. The shutter is of the type consisting of a movable cap, arranged on the head of the tube, while a passage for the material to be debited passes through an opening made in the head of the tube and a corresponding opening made in the cap; said passage that can be slumbered or closed at will by turning the said hat.
A series of different shutters of the type mentioned above is known. However, these devices have disadvantages which make them hardly usable in practice. In the known devices, on the one hand, the parts which are turned relative to each other have a tendency to stick to one another due to the fact that the paste or the powder penetrates between
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the two surfaces that rotate relative to each other.
As a result the shutter is no longer usable or can be used only with difficulty On the other hand, other common devices carry the flow opening to the side of the head, instead of losing it to the extreme paint. which seems more normal,
The whole of the invention is the execution of a shutter for tubes or similar containers and which eliminates the disadvantages described above by providing a shutter which delivers the powder or paste from the central point of the head of the tube, while by being executed so that the.
The delivered material cannot penetrate between the two surfaces which rotate with respect to each other so that the movement of the shutter device can be accomplished in the flawless manner intended by the invention.
An execution forir.e, given by way of non-limiting example, is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figs, etlb represent a cross section of the head of the tube, respectively of the sealing cap attached to the head.
Figs. 2 and 3 are side elevations, partially in section, of the embodiment of FIG. 1, respectively in the open and closed position.
Fig. 4 shows a plan view of the head of the tube, without the end cap.
The device according to figs. 1 to 3 is constituted by a tube or other similar receptacle 1, the shoulder 2 of which is connected to a cylindrical head 3, located in the center of the tube. The outer end of the head is open, but is provided with a spider 5 or the like which supports a valve body 4 disposed in the center. Between the wall of the head 3 of the tube and the valve 4 therefore remain flow openings 9.
Above the lower part of the outer face of the cylindrical head are provided two grooves 6, 61, slightly spaced from each other. The part between the grooves is indicated by 7 and is slightly convex in shape, however its largest diameter is less than the outer diameter of the head 3 of the tube.
Then a sealing cap 10 is pushed onto the described head of the tube; said cap also being cylindrical in shape and being closed to
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
its outer end by means of a conical tip 11 provided in the center with a round opening 12.
(, the lower end of the cap 10 is provided with an annular bead 13 which engages in the groove 6 when the cap is pressed on the head 3. By pushing the cap further, the bead 13 engages in the groove 6 '. The slightly convex part 7 maintains the cap in one of the two positions described depending on whether the bead 13 is engaged in the groove 6 or 6'. These two positions correspond to the opening, respectively the closing of the closure device. The cap 10 and the head 3, 4 are formed so that when the bead 13 engages in the groove 6 ', the conical upper face 8 of the valve 4 rests against the inner face 14 of the tip of the cap. , thereby pressing the valve against its seat and effectively closing the flow opening 12.
When the cap 10 is raised from the head 3 of the tube, so that the bead 13 engages in the groove 6, the valve is detached from its seat 14 and the free passage of the material to the outside from it is obtained. 'inside tube 1 and through openings 9 and 12.
In order to be able to ensure that the opening 12 does not become blocked due to the solidification of the material from each use of the tube, the valve shown is provided with a cylindrical pin 16, provided in the center, and the cross section of which is almost identical. to that of the opening 12 and which is substantially the same length as the latter. Therefore, when the valve 48 presses against the conical part 11 of the cap 10, the pin 16 enters the opening 12 and keeps it clean.
In order to prevent the material delivered from the inside of the tube 1 from entering the space between the outside face of the head 3 and the inside face of the cap 10, which would make the relative movements of these parts difficult, the edge upper 3t of the head 3 is bevelled and preferably has a diameter slightly greater than that of the remainder of the head 3.
As a result, the edge 3 'acts as a scraping edge which, due to a certain elasticity which is specific to it, rests against the inner face of the cap 10 and prevents due material from entering this space, simultaneously scraping the material that adheres to the walls.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The lower edge 18 of the camel is preferably also bevelled. On the one hand, this type of execution facilitates the insertion of the cap on the head during assembly of the device and, on the other hand, the bevelled edge 18 provides an effective seal when it is applied against the shoulder. 2 of the tube,
It is understood that the embodiment described and shown is given only by way of example, in no way limiting, in order to allow a better understanding of the invention. The invention can therefore be modified in different ways, without going out of mind.
It is obvious that the means shown and described, serving to fix the cap, can be modified as well as the two extreme positions of said cap, namely the open and closed position, can be reversed, that is to say that the inner face of the cap may be provided with the means described cooperating with the outer face of the cap and vice versa. In addition, even if the closure device according to Figs. 1 to 4 is described as having a round cross section, nothing prevents to give it at will another shape. However, the round shape is generally the most convenient.
