Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

   Beside important advantages, especially with regard to economy and speed, scooters and motorcycles imply, as the main advantage, the absence of any adequate protection against rain, cold and dust.

   The present invention aims to eliminate this drawback, thanks to the provision of an almost completely closed passenger compartment, which can be adapted to any motor vehicle. An exemplary embodiment of the object of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a front elevation showing the passenger compartment in the folded state.

   Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the unfolded passenger compartment.

   Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the unfolded passenger compartment.

   As emerges from these drawings, the unfolded passenger compartment has the shape of a sphere, of a 70 cm long line for example, or a shape slightly elongated in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the machine. . The passenger compartment is made up of thin hoops A, made of steel wire or profiled iron, which have a semicircular shape and pivot relative to the vehicle in two "poles" B and C, l 'one behind and the other in front. On this carcass is stretched a flexible menbrane A 'made of an elastic and perfectly transparent synthetic material. The membrane forming an envelope may also consist of fabric and only include certain parts of synthetic material, which ensure visibility. The membrane is fixed to the arches at various points. The lower spherical corner is open, in order to be able to frame the machine.

  To improve the obturation at this location, this spherical wedge is provided with a band of solid and non-flammable fabric, which masks any openings, as indicated in D.

   The two blades B and C, in which the arches A meet and around which they rotate, are formed by two fixed points of rotation and are rigidly joined to the machine using two fixing brackets E and F , adapted in each case to the type of this machine.

   The passenger compartment, which has been described above as it appears in the unfolded state, can be folded up on itself. In fact, when the hoops are pivoted towards one side around the two poles, these hoops are superposed and the spherical membrane bends to form a semicircle, which is placed laterally to the machine and n ' requires a small footprint. In this position, the strong fabric strip protects the synthetic material that sits in the middle.

   The fabric strip is provided with closing devices, allowing the passenger compartment to be held in the folded position and intended to better protect the transparent parts against dust.

   When, starting from this position, it is desired to unfold the passenger compartment, it suffices to pivot the hoops towards the opposite side. This cabin can protect two people each seated on one of the seats of the machine. It provides perfect protection, while leaving complete freedom of movement to the driver and in no way prevents him from putting his feet on the ground during. stops. The passenger compartment is of reduced weight, which can be around 3 kg, and can be easily unfolded and folded up while the machine is in motion. It easily adapts to any type of scooter and motorcycle. The machines of the first species are particularly suitable for this purpose, given the presence of the lower sheet metal trim.

   By way of example, the closed passenger compartment can have the following height and width-1.20m dimensions. length-1.30 to 1.50m. The sphericity and the particular position of the arches ensure a well aerodynamic shape and

 good stability, even at high speeds The relative wind pressure acts not on the handlebars, as in the case of normal windshields, but on the frame of the machine, hence good stability, beware of wind.

   The passenger compartment according to the invention is very simple, also as regards the construction, hence the reduced cost price.

   The passenger compartment can be fitted with a windscreen wiper, which will be attached to the central arch, as well as position or surf lights painted in phosphorescent colors, on the side arches.
