Abstract

The device according to the invention comprises a structure capable of being fixed in an easily disconnected manner on the frame of the bicycle (3), a hood carried by said structure, this hood (1) extending at least in line with the part upper back and above the head of the cyclist when he is seated on the saddle (4) and a retractable visor made of transparent material mounted on said hood (1), so as to be able to successively assume a deployed position according to which it comes in front of the head of the cyclist and a retracted position under or on the hood.

Description

- 1
The present invention relates to a device for protecting the user from the weather against a cycle such as, for example, a bicycle or a vehicle with two or three wheels with pedals or motor-driven.
In general, it is known that bad weather, for example rain or snow, constitutes one of the major obstacles which opposes the generalization of the use of the bicycle.
In an attempt to solve this problem, solutions have been devised which consist in providing a removable camber which can be mounted or dismounted on the bicycle. However, this solution remains impractical. It increases the size and weight of the bicycle and requires frequent assembly and disassembly.
In addition, these camberings do not properly protect the front part of the cyclist: the solutions consisting in equipping the handlebars with a windshield are not effective and constitute a gene for riding the bicycle.
The invention therefore more particularly aims to eliminate these drawbacks.
It proposes, for this purpose, a protection device comprising a frame, capable of being fixed easily disconnectable on the cycle frame, a hood carried by said frame, this hood extending at least in line with the upper part from the back and above the head of the cyclist when he is seated on the saddle and a retractable visor made of transparent material mounted on said hood, so as to be able to take two successive positions, namely: - a deployed position in which it extends in the extension of the hood, beyond its front edge, so as to come in front of the cyclist's head, and - a retracted position in which it is arranged under or on the hood.
Embodiments of the invention will be described below, by way of nonlimiting examples, with reference to the appended drawings in which: FIGS. 1 and 2 are two schematic representations illustrating the principle of two alternative embodiments the protective device according to the invention fitted to a bicycle; FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the protection device in FIG. 2.
In the example shown in FIG. 1, the protection device comprises a hood 1 comprising two triangular sides 2 which extend parallel to the plane of the bicycle 3, on either side of the saddle 4. The distance between these two sides 2 is slightly greater than the width of a cyclist.
These two sides 2 each comprise an angular region 5 forming an acute angle which is fixed to the frame of the bicycle 3, behind the saddle 4, for example, on the luggage carrier 6.
The edge of each of these sides, opposite the angular region 5, has a circular shape 7 supporting a curved roof 8, also of circular shape.
On these two sides 2 are respectively articulated the two lateral flanges 9 of a visor 10 made of a transparent material. These two flanges 9 have a triangular shape and comprise two angular regions, respectively pivotally mounted on the sides 2 around two respective pins 11 coaxial with the circular shape 7 of the roof 8.
These two flanges 9 comprise, opposite the angular region, a circular border 12 coaxial with the circular shape of the roof 8.
Thanks to this arrangement, by pivoting around the pins 11, the visor 10 can take two positions, namely: a retracted position, (shown in 20 broken lines) in which the visor 10 is housed in the hood 1 and a deployed position in which it extends beyond the hood 1 in front of the cyclist's head.
Advantageously, the hood 1 can be designed so as to be able to fold.
Thus, it may include a structure produced using arches 14, 15, substantially U-shaped, the ends of which are pivotally mounted around two coaxial axes 13; secured to the frame of the bicycle 3 or the luggage rack. These arches 14, 15 support a canvas or a flexible waterproof film fixed on the top and on the sides of the arches.
This produces a folding hood that can easily be assembled or disassembled on the bicycle.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above. Thus, the structure of the hood can be produced by means of two tubular arches 17, 18 which extend parallel to one another. and which are connected to each other by removable crosspieces, so as to constitute a rigid structure of width slightly greater than that of a cyclist.
The lower end of these arches 17, 18 is extended by a straight tube 22, 23 intended to engage telescopically in a tubular sleeve 24 15 secured to the luggage rack 6 of the bicycle.
On the upper end of the hoops is slidably mounted a transparent visor 25, which can take a deployed position and a retracted position.
The two arches support a waterproof canvas or film 26.
The advantage of this solution is that the hood is light and easy to assemble or disassemble. In the disassembled state, it can be folded up so as to have only a very small footprint.
