Suivant l'invention il est préconisé de réaliser un outil appelé démonte roues libres utilisant une partie centrale ou corp@ solidarisé de deux ergots qui pénètrent et sont maintenus dans le: encoches prévues aux roues libres à la partie qui possède un file -tage destiné à être visser sur la partie adéquate du moyeu.Le corps central du démonte roues libres contient un dispositif de réglage,en hauteur,de deux griffes de maintien qui s'agrippe/sur le ou sur un des pignons dentés de la roue libre et solidariser par la pression dune vis de commande,la corps de l'outil de la : roue Libre;

DESCRIPTION
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Freewheel remover or similar
In the bicycle industry, an operation that is always difficult and delicate consists in removing the freewheels, when they have been on the bike for some time. The freewheel, by site of the user's efforts, is wedged maximum; humidity and rust helping it is practically impossible to remove the said freewheel without causing damage to it, often putting it out of use.
According to the invention it is recommended to produce a tool called freewheel remover using a central part or body @ secured to two lugs which penetrate and are held in the: notches provided for the freewheels in the part which has a thread -tage intended for be screwed onto the appropriate part of the hub.The central body of the freewheel remover contains a device for adjusting the height of two retaining claws which clings to / on the or on one of the toothed gears of the freewheel and secured by the pressure of a control screw, the body of the tool: Freewheel;
the aforesaid body is provided with two handling arms which allow. rotation of the assembly in one direction or the other depending on whether the clamping or loosening of the freewheel is desired.
The retaining claws are capable of moving horizontally (in order to bring them into contact with the toothed pinion (s) of the freewheel) on integral arms
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of a threaded sleeve which moves vertically, inside the body of the freewheel remover, under the action of a threaded rod bearing on the body of the freewheel remover; these displacements are made against the action antagonist of a spring provided inside the body of the tool.
In. making slight changes to this tool it is possible to use it as a hub-puller in the automotive industry.
Other characteristics will emerge from the following description.
The drawings are given by way of non-limiting example and show a single embodiment of the freewheel remover according to the invention. The invention covers all embodiments falling within the spirit of the following claims.
Figure I is a perspective view of the freewheel remover in which partial cuts have been made to allow certain parts of the tool to be seen.
Figure 2 is a vertical section of the tool mounted on a bicycle hub.
DESCRIPTION
The freewheel disassembler produced according to the invention comprises in main order the following elements:
A body I of cylindrical shape or other provided with diametrically opposed grooves Ia and Id; the upper part of this body is provided with a threaded portion Ib onto which is screwed a threaded cover 2 provided with a bore 2a allowing the passage of the control screw 3, provided, at its upper part, with a small control arm 3a.
The control screw 3 is connected by threading to a sleeve 4 secured to two arms 4a and 4b which serve as a guide for horizontal movements to two gtiffes 5a and 5b, the lower part 5 of which will come into contact with the teeth of the freewheel to be screwed or unscrewed 6 on the hub 7 The said control screw 3 ensures the vertical movements of the sleeve 4 which has an upward or downward movement according to the direction of rotation of the control screw; the circular movement of the sleeve 4 is prevented by the arms 4a and 4b which rise and fall in the vertical grooves Ia and Ib of the body of the tool.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
A spring 8 placed inside the body of the freewheel remover is supported on the one hand on the inner surface of the threaded cover 2 and on the other hand on the sleeve 4; this always pushes the sleeve towards the bottom and thereby maintaining the screw 3 in permanent contact with the body of the tool.
The lower part of the tool body in contact with the freewheel to be removed is fitted with two lugs Im and In which enter the notches 6m and 6n provided for the freewheel 6.
The handling of the tool is very simple and its operation is easily understood.
The Freewheel remover is placed on the freewheel to be dismantled and the pins Im and In are engaged in the corresponding notches 6m and 6n; the claws 5 are then brought under the teeth of the freewheel by sliding them on the two arms 4a and 4b. At this stage, the tool is in the tightening position, it is then sufficient to actuate the screw 3 by means of the small control arm 3a to raise the sleeve 4 and ensure the desired pressure of the lugs in the notches of the freewheel; this pressure is a function of the force exerted by the claws on the teeth of the freewheel. When the pressure prevents the lugs from disengaging from the notches, it suffices to turn the tool in the desired direction using the arms of lever It secured to the body of the freewheel remover.
In the case of mounting free wheels on the hubs, the opposite is done.
