Guillotine shears. The object of the invention is a guillotine shear and its purpose is to allow cutting of objects by means of a relatively inexpensive shears, operating under relatively reduced mechanical power and without causing strong vibrations, even without a frame. heavy and bulky, as is the case with an ordinary guillotine shear comprising heavy reciprocating parts.
For this purpose, the shears according to the invention is characterized in that between a rotating plate and a guide coaxial with the latter is freely mounted a rolling member which pushes this tool holder back when it is driven between it and the turntable, in that means are provided for returning the rolling member to its working position each time it has pushed back the tool holder, and in that a device for stopping the rolling member bearing is provided on the path followed by the latter in front of the place where the tool holder is on this path, said stop device being mounted so as to be able to release the rolling member.
According to an advantageous embodiment, the speed of rotation of the plate is sufficient to impart to the rolling member a speed such that after having pushed the tool holder again, it can, while rolling, return to a position. for which it can again be driven by the plate between the latter and the tool holder.
So that the shears according to the invention can be used to automatically cut the object to be sheared into elements of the same length, it can be provided with a stop arranged so as to be pushed back by the object to be sheared when the latter exceeds the guillotine by the desired length, said abutment causing by this movement the release of the rolling organ which was immobilized by the stop device.
According to a complementary feature (this shears, the tool holder or a part which is moved at the same time as it can cause, during the shearing movement, the removal of a base with which is provided a guide in which the part to be cut of the object to be sheared is maintained until the moment when it causes its shearing lement by pushing back the aforesaid movable stop.
The drawing appended to this specification shows, schematically and by way of example only, an embodiment of the shears according to the invention.
Fig. 1 shows, by means of a few schematic lines, a shears according to the invention.
The fi-. 2 is a perspective view, after vertical section, of the upper part of the shears shown in FIG. 1.
The fi-. 3 is a perspective view, after partial breaks, of the lower part of the shears along the fib. 1, serving to automatically control the shearing operation.
The fi-. 4 is a perspective view, after axial section and partial breaks, of the lower part of the shears according to Fig. 1, used to control the evacuation of the element which has just been sheared.
In these different figures, the same reference names designate identical elements.
The shears shown in fig. 1 com takes a tray \? wedged on a shaft 3 with a horizontal axis rotated in the direction of the arrow Y, at high speed, for example at around 3000 revolutions per minute. A roller 4 is freely mounted between the periphery (this plate and a guide 5 concentric with it. This guide 5 consists of two flanges 6 and 7 (fi # ,. 2) made integral with the plate 2 by fastening means shown schematically at 8.
Between the flanges 6 and 7 penetrates an arm 9 pivoting at 10 and surmounting a tool holder rod 11 permanently urged by a res out 12 (fib. 1) to occupy a position for which the pivoting arm 9 is on the path of the g <alct 4 when the latter is "driven between the plate 2 and the concentric guide 5.
When during this training, the roller 4 comes into contact with the pivoting arm 9, if the angle has been done. the latter with the plate is sufficiently weak, it pushes this arm downwards Ù, against the spring 12. This angle depends on the coefficient of friction between the bodies present. For <machined steel parts, the angle adopted is, for example, 6 if the plate 2 has a diameter of 150 mm and the roller 4 has a diameter <12 mm.
As soon as the roller 4 has passed the position for which it comes above the rod 11, the latter rises under the effect of the res out 12. If the rod 11 carries a knife 37, the latter shears a part for shearing such as a wire 14 disposed below this knife.
When the gold - donkey rolling; constituted by the roller: 4 has passed the part of the voting arm pi against which it is pushed back by the plate 2, it is necessary, so that a new shearing operation can take place, that this rolling member can be brought back, in a position he is ready to work for, such as the one in which he is pictured.
If the plate rotates at high speed, as indicated above, the roller 4 can, while rolling, be brought automatically to the position in which it is shown.
The two flanges 6 and 7 integral with the plate 2 have flanges 15, directed towards one another. The peripheral part of the plate also has two grooves arranged symmetrically with respect to the mean plane of the plate. One of these grooves is shown at 16. Thanks to these grooves, the aforementioned flanges are therefore mounted so as to leave between them and the peripheral part of the plate a housing for cheeks 17 provided at the ends of the roller. -4. These cheeks serve to properly guide the ga let during its displacement.
In order to be able to control each shearing operation at will, a positive device for stopping the roller 4 on the path followed by the latter, in front of the place where the pivoting arm 9 is on this same path, is provided. stop device being mounted so as to be able to release the roller 4 at the desired time.
The stop device shown is located at the level of the axis of rotation of the plate. It consists of a rotating star 18, a branch 19 of which is maintained on the path of the rolling member when a movable stop 20 is in a position which immobilizes the star. The different branches. of the latter are spaced from each other at an angle such that, when the star turns to allow the roller to pass, a new branch immediately comes to be placed on the path of the roller in order to stop it. hereafter that the plate will have made him make a turn.
The movable stop 20 is constituted by one of the arms of an angled lever 21, a second arm 22 of which is arranged so that by continuing the pivoting movement which causes the release of the star, this second arm rotates this star after its release by abutting its face 23 against the rear face 24 of one of the branches of the star. In the position which it occupies at this moment, the arm 22 then stops the rotational movement of the star which it has caused by serving as a stop by its face 25 to the front face 26 of the following branch.
The second arm 22 of the angled lever 21 is further wedged relative to the first arm 20 in a position such that, when the angled lever 21 is returned to its initial position, it does not leave the new branch, the front face of which 26 has come from. abut against it, only after the first arm 20 has returned to a position for which it can prevent the star from rotating.
In order to prevent a rotational movement of the star 18 in the opposite direction to that by which the roller 4 is released, this star has been made integral with a ratchet wheel 27 which cooperates with a pawl 28 constantly maintained at, its contact by a spring 29. The movable stop 20 is urged permanently towards the position for which it immobilizes the star 18 under. the action of a spring 30 acting on one of the arms 31 of a lever 32 wedged on the pivot 33 of the angled lever 21. To prevent too sudden an impact of the roller 4 on the branch of the star 18 intended for Retaining it when it is brought back to the position in which it is shown, there is provided a device for braking this roller consisting of an arm 34 oscillating around a pivot 35.
This arm is constantly requested under the action of its weight to occupy a position for which it is on the path of the roller. It is however kept at a short distance from the rotating plate 4 by means of a stop 36. The position occupied by the oscillating arm 34 also has the effect of preventing the roller 4 from rebounding from the branch 19 of the star into the position it occupies when it left the arm 9.
The shears shown in fig. 1 is carried out so as to automatically cause the shearing of the wire 14 as soon as the latter has exceeded the desired length of the tool 37 (FIG. 4) mounted at the lower end of the rod 11. The wire to be sheared is introduced into a guide 38 serving as an against-tool. After passing the tool 37, the wire continues to be guided in a guide 39.
When it has exceeded the desired amount of the guide 38, the wire 14 meets a rod 40 (Fig. 1 and 3) guided in supports 41. This rod carries a tab 42 of adjustable position on said rod. A spring 43 is interposed between this cleat and one of the arms of an angled lever 44 connected to a rod 45 connected on the other hand to the sink 32.
The lever 44 and therefore the rod 46 are permanently urged by a spring 46 towards a position for which the movable stop 20 immobilizes the star 18 in the retaining position of the roller 4. The spring 43 has such rigidity that 'it cannot be compressed when the load it supports is at most. equal to the passive resistances of all the mechanism between it and the positive stop device of the roller. This spring can however be compressed if, after the angled lever 21 has fully rotated, the wire to be sheared is continued to advance.
A spring of this kind can be very useful when the advancement of the wire 14 is caused in a continuous manner, for example, by drag rollers 47 (fib. 1).
It should be noted however that, when the plate 2 rotates at very high speed, the shearing is practically instantaneous from the moment when the movable stop 20 aban gives the star 18.
So that the part to be sheared of the wire 14 abuts against the rod 40, even when this wire is of small diameter, the guide 39 must have a bottom 48 (FIGS. 1, 3 and 4). But, at the moment the shear is. in fact, it is necessary to be able to instantly release the sheared part so as to immediately allow the introduction of a new length of thread into the guide 39. It is for this reason that the bottom 48 is mounted in a movable manner. The removal of this bottom is caused during the shearing movement ment by the movement called arm 9 (it moves at the same time as the rod 11 carrying the tool.
The mechanical connection provided between the bottom 48 and the pivoting arm 9 comprises, for example, a rod 49 (fig. 1, 2 and 4), connected, on the one hand, to a projection 50 of the arm 9 and, of on the other hand, to one of the arms 51 of an angled lever 52 wedged on a shaft 53. On the latter are wedged two plates 54 (fig. 4) and 55 (fig. 3) supporting the bottom 48.
As can easily be seen from FIGS. 1 and 4, the lowering of the arm 9 at the time of the shearing of the wire 14 causes the displacement of the rod 49 in the direction of the arrow Y and, consequently, the pivoting of the elbow lever 52 and of the shaft 53 in the meaning of. arrow Z. This pivoting movement has the effect of moving the bottom 48 away from the guide 39 and, consequently, of allowing the end of the wire which is to fall. sheared at this time.
To prevent the bottom 48 from moving too quickly against the guide 39 under the effect of the sudden raising of the oscillating arm 9 caused by the spring 12, provision has been made not to connect the rod 49 rigidly to the arm 51 of the angled lever. 52. The rod 49 can slide freely in an opening made in a pivoting sleeve 56 at the end of the arm 51. A nut 57, of a releasable position on the rod 49, abuts against the outer face of this sleeve so as to tilt the lever 52 in the direction of the arrow Z when the rod 49 moves in the direction of the arrow Y.
But, when the rod 49 moves in the opposite direction, it slides freely in the sleeve 56 without causing the bottom 48 of the guide 39 to come closer.
This approximation is achieved under the effect of a mechanism put under tension during shearing and acting more slowly than the tool holder would have done during its lifting. This mechanism is constituted by a dash-pot comprising a cylinder 58 (fig. 1 and 4) in which is mounted a piston 59, the rod 60 of which is connected to the elbow lever 52 (fib. 4).
When the elbow lever 52 pivots in the direction of the arrow Z, a spring 61 is compressed and this spring causes the bottom 48 to close when it can relax. The speed of relaxation of this spring is regulated by the position of a screw 62, the point of which is engaged in the orifice 63 through which the air contained in the cylinder 58 behind the piston 59 escapes during the approach. the bottom.
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiment shown.
It goes without saying, for example, that the stop device of the roller 4 does not necessarily have to be at the level of the axis of rotation of the plate 2. It is not essential either that the guide 5 concentric with the plate 2 is integral with the latter, nor that the axis of rotation of the plate is horizontal. In the case where the axis of rotation would be vertical, the rolling member, instead of being constituted by a roller, could advantageously be constituted by a ball.
It goes without saying also that one could imagine another means than the speed of rotation of the plate to bring back the rolling member; from the position which it occupies when it leaves the oscillating arm 9 until it reaches a position for which it can again push this arm against the spring 12. Although it is advantageous to make the control member act. bearing on an oscillating arm pressed against the tool-holder rod 11, one could however do without the arm 9 and cause the rolling member to act directly on the rod 11 or on a part integral with the latter appearing according to the inclination desired to allow the drive of the .galet 4 between it and the plate 2.
The opening of the bottom 48 of the guide 39 does not necessarily have to depend on the movement of an oscillating arm such as the arm 9.
The mechanical connection ending at the bottom 48 could, for example, be connected directly to the rod 11 instead of being connected to the oscillating arm 9.
It would also be possible to replace the mechanical link for controlling the opening of the bottom 48 by an electrical link.
One could, for example, conceive that the lowering of the rod 11, or any other part moved with it, causes the closing of a relay circuit controlling the supply of an electromagnet which , when powered, causes the bottom 48 to open.
One could also, instead of a mechanical link between the rod 40 and the stop device of the rolling member 4, use an electrical connection, the displacement of the rod 40 under the pressure of the wire 14 provo as for, for example, the closing of a relay circuit controlling the supply of an electromagnet which, when supplied, moves the lever 32, as does the rod 45 in the case shown in FIG. 1.
The shear control does not necessarily have to be carried out automatically when the shearing wire has passed the shear knife by the desired length. This control could be carried out at will by the operator acting on the lever 32.
