This invention relates to combined ejectors for vacuum brake systems; it relates in particular to the operation of the air valve which applies the brake, and to the isolation of the connection between this valve and the train line, from the connection to the ejector nozzles.
The object of the present invention is to provide an improved and simplified arrangement for operating the air valve and for isolating the connection between this valve and the train line of the ejector nozzles.
The invention consists of a vacuum brake ejector provided with an air intake valve and a steam valve actuated by a common handle, called the mechanic's brake handle,
characterized in that this handle turns a rotary member which can open the air valve allowing air to enter the train line and simultaneously cutting off the communication between the space evacuated by the ejector and the connection to the train line, this rotating member. when it lets the air valve close, opening the communication between the vacuum space and the traino line
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical section taken along line 1-1 of Figure 2 and Figure 2 is a vertical section substantially perpendicular to that of Figure 1 but taken along a slightly irregular plane so that the The construction appears more clearly, showing a vacuum brake ejector constructed in accordance with an advantageous form of the invention.
The ejector comprises a handle a mounted on an axis b and which serves to actuate the steam valve c which controls the admission of steam to the ejector to produce a vacuum in the line d leading to the vacuum brake cylinders ( not shown) and also to actuate the air intake valve e which allows air to enter the pipe d to destroy the video there. The valve .0 is actuated by a cam f mounted on the axis b and the valve 9 is actuated by the rotary member g integral with the axis b.
this rotary member having an opening in its periphery at h to form a lumen which can be brought into and out of coincidence with an orifice i in the part of the plug in which the rotary member g rotates and also another opening at i whose l 'end k can abut against the rod m of the valve e which it lifts against the pressure of the spring n, in order to open the valve.
When the valve e is opened by the handle a rotating the axis b and the rotary member g to bring them into a position in which the part k of the rotary member g contacts and lifts the valve stem m. the light h of the rotating member does not coincide with the orifice i.
The ejector nozzles. that is to say, the small ejector operating continuously and the main ejector controlled by the valve c (not shown) evacuate the space o by the valves pq and r in the usual way and this space o is in communication with the main train pipe d through ports i, h. the rotary member g and the space s. the connection existing between the space s and the train line d not being shown in the drawings
Therefore, when the rotary member g opens the valve e to let air into the space s and the train line d. it automatically cuts off the communication between the vacuum space o and the train line d.
Likewise, when the valve e is closed. the rotary member g is in the position shown and it establishes communication between the vacuum space o and the train line d so that a vacuum can be created in the train line by the small ejector con

tinu sucking through the valve r or by the two ejectors sucking through the valves r and go
The valve u opens to admit air into space o if the vacuum there becomes excessive.
By placing the valves r and g one above the other. they can both be removed upwards by removing the cover v and the part w which constitutes the seat of the valve r.
Thanks to the present improvement, it is possible to eliminate the ordinary cam actuated by the driver's brake handle, the angled lever actuated by the cam and the spring sleeve intended to close the rear main valve when the brakes are applied. All these functions are performed by the rotary member g.
