<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

PACKAGING, ESPECIALLY FOR LIQUIDS AND PASTE OR EASILY TUSIBLE SUBSTANCES, PACKAGING MATERIALS TO BE USED FOR SUCH PACKAGING, AND PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURING
OF THIS PACKAGING.
The invention relates to a packaging, in particular for liquids and pasty or easily meltable substances, this packaging being., - Consisting of a bag made of a sealed film and a solid support. It also relates to the packaging material to be used for .is packaging and to a process for the manufacture of said packaging.
A package of this kind, especially intended for small quantities of material to be wrapped., Is described in German patent application No. G. 3311. In this patent the support is constituted by a strip of solid material surrounding the bag made of 'a waterproof film, so that this bag is free on the two opposite lateral sides. Such packaging is inexpensive and can be rejected after use. However, especially when it is used for the packaging of a larger quantity of material, for example table oil which is not consumed at once, but in small quantities, this sachet has the disadvantage that the necessary rigidity in a direction perpendicular to this strip is lacking, which, the package being opened once, can cause the unwanted extrusion of the continuous.
A further disadvantage is that the bag made of a waterproof film is not protected on all sides by solid outer faces.
The object of the invention is to provide a packaging which obviates the above-mentioned drawbacks. This is achieved by giving the solid support the form of an envelope provided with a bottom, envelope, the upper end of which is flattened and closed with the bag made of a waterproof film. Such a support remains in a vertical position without folding in half.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
If the bag, made of a waterproof film, is made of a thermoplastic material, for example polyethylene, the bag can be closed with the solid envelope (for example cardboard), according to a favorable embodiment. , in a single operation, using a seal produced by heating and pressure. The two layers of the thermoplastic film are joined, at the location of the joint, both to each other and to the solid envelope. To ensure good adhesion of the bag to the envelope, a layer of thermoplastic material can be placed on the inside of the envelope, at the location of the seal.
It has been found that the inner bag does not have to have exactly the same shape as the solid casing, but that an ordinary, flat bag is also very suitable for the purpose, and bears, after filling, sufficiently on the wall. inside the envelope.
If necessary, a window can be provided in the solid casing, so that, if the bag is made of transparent material, the contents are visible when the package is closed. When pouring the contents of the sachet, there is produced a regular and smooth jet, because, while pouring said contents, the inner sachet is deformed by atmospheric pressure and the amount poured should not be replaced by water. 'air.
When we have finished pouring, the. jet stops abruptly without forming droplets which otherwise flow down the pouring hole.
According to a favorable embodiment of the invention the envelope has, before flattening, the shape of a cylinder or of a truncated cone.
However, it can also have a rectangular or other polygon shape.
If the bottom of the envelope is formed by a separate rimmed disc, this rim being fixed to the eventloppe, it is extremely favorable that, before flattening, the envelope has the shape of a truncated cone such, that the width of the flattened top end is equal to the diameter near the foot of the casing. Thanks to this measure, it is avoided that the bottom edge is bent, during flattening, in an outward direction - and in a perpendicular y direction, inward, because, after flattening , the generatrices of the envelope are located in the plane of the joint perpendicular to the bottom. Consequently, the connection between the envelope and the bottom is less loaded. In addition, such packaging has a more attractive appearance.
In order to explain the invention more clearly still, some embodiments of the packaging according to the invention are described below, by way of example, and shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a side view of a first embodiment of the packaging according to the invention.

<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Figo 7 is a perspective view of the upper part of the packaging provided with a recess.
Figures 8 and 9 show several embodiments of the seal.
In the figures the same reference numbers indicate the same parts.
The packaging shown in Figures 1 to 4 inclusive consists of a solid support 1 in the form of an envelope provided with a rigid bottom 2 fixed to this envelope by a flange 5. In the envelope 1 is located a bag 3, made of a waterproof film, for example of polyethylene, this bag being flat in the unfilled state. Before flattening the casing 1 has the shape of a cylinder, so that the inner bag 3, which when filled is too flaccid to remain in a vertical position, is supported and protected on all sides by the envelope 1 and the bottom 2. The upper sides of the envelope 1 and the bag 3 are flattened and closed, after the bag is filled with the material to be packaged, for example a liquid.
If the inner bag 3 is made of a thermoplastic material the bag as well as the solid casing can be closed in a single operation by means of a "heat -seal" 4, the material of the inner bag 3 being united with that of the casing 1 at the location of the joint 4. As a secondary advantage it can be mentioned that there is no risk of the thermoplastic material sticking to the heated welding tips, because between the soldering tips and the thermoplastic material is a layer of the material of the shell 1.
A window 6 can be formed in the material of the casing 1, so that if the inner bag 3 is made of transparent material, the contents of the package are visible.
In the packaging shown in Figures 5 and 6, we start with a solid envelope 1 in the form of a truncated cone, the dimensions of which are chosen so that the width of the upper end, after flattening, is equal to the diameter near the foot of the envelope. Although in the surface of the mantle of the bag 3, which in the unfilled state most often has a rectangular circumference, in this case one or more longitudinal folds form, it is still very possible to obtain a closed seal, when a thermoplastic material is used.
To facilitate the filling of the bag, the latter can be made to be longer than the solid envelope. The upper edge of the sachet overflowing the envelope can be folded, in this case, outwardly around the upper edge of the rigid envelope, after which the bag is filled. Once the seal has been effected, the material of the sachet or envelope may be cut, possibly extending beyond the seal.
If the contents of the package are to be used, a corner can be cut off from the top edge so that a pouring hole is produced. By cutting the corner in the correct way, the contents can be prevented from spilling out. For this purpose, one can for example draw on the envelope 1 a line 7 (see FIG. 5). At this point a recess 8 can be made in the casing, so that, after the wedge has been cut along line 7, the material does not touch the casing, when the spray is poured. liquid.
Figures 8 and 9 show several embodiments of the seal 4, recesses being formed in the seal. When we cut the wedge along line 7, in this case a pouring pipe 9 will form.
It will be understood that numerous modifications can be made, without departing from the scope of the invention. Thus the envelope in matter

The solid may have, for example, a rectangular or square cross-section, and the bottom may be constituted, for example, by folded-down parts of the casing. RE
