Description

The present invention relates to the field of packaging, in particular tubular packaging made of composite materials, and relates to a method of manufacturing and simultaneously placing a bottom or a cover on the body of a tubular packaging made of composite materials.

The existing packaging of the box, container, barrel, barrel type is all composed of a tubular body, of round, polygonal section, or any other sections, of a cover and of a bottom. The structure of the tubular body, produced by spiral, straight, convolute or other winding, is generally as follows:
  • an internal complex, compatible with the product to be packaged. This complex can have two or more layers. Very often, the layer having the barrier properties ensuring a perfect seal is composed of an aluminum film. It can also be made of any other film having the same barrier properties and the same low physical resistance as aluminum. This layer is as thin as possible, in order to minimize the cost of the packaging to be produced. Usually, an optimal seal is obtained with a thickness of the aluminum layer of the order of 9 to 18 μ. This layer of aluminum is often covered, on each side, with a layer of a different material, for example on one side of paper and on the other of a film of synthetic material, or of a varnish.
  • one or more layers of a more rigid material than the internal complex. In general, these layers are made of cardboard, that is to say a grammage greater than about 225 g / m². The number of layers depends, of course, on the desired rigidity, a barrel of washing powder requiring a rigidity much higher than a package of cookies, for example.
  • an outer layer or complex, printed or not. It can be a single layer, for example a label printed with the product's trade name or other indications. It could also be a complex guaranteeing a perfect seal from the outside to the inside, in order to protect the different layers of cardboard from any damage by an external liquid.

The connection of these different layers is ensured by sealing or gluing.

The bottoms or covers of these packages are still, at present, composed of a structure completely different from that of the body of the package. Indeed, these funds or covers must be rigid, while being able to be sealed on the tubular body of the packaging, so as to guarantee a perfect seal. However, the body being already relatively thick, a very high calorific energy would be necessary in order to be able to correctly carry out the welding of a thick cover or of a thick bottom on a thick body. In addition, in order to be able to carry out the welding, the cover or the bottom must be folded in the shape of a U, towards the inside of the body of the packaging. However, it is obvious that the greater the thickness, the less such a folding is achievable.

Currently, therefore, the bottoms and the covers are produced separately from the bodies of the packages, either in a crimped metal part, or in synthetic material, or in the form of a membrane ensuring the sealing, for example, of aluminum, d '' a thickness between 50 µ and 70 µ. Then, once completed, they are attached to the body of the package and they are possibly surmounted by a cap or protective cap made of synthetic material.

However, it is clear that all these types of bottoms and covers have the major drawback of very significantly increasing the overall cost price of such packaging. It is therefore currently impossible to obtain a tubular packaging whose bottom and cover are fixed in a perfectly sealed manner and which have a low cost price.

Document US-A-2 438 430 also discloses a method of manufacturing and simultaneously placing a base or a cover on the body of a tubular packaging made of composite materials. According to the process described in this document, the establishment of the bottom or the cover is carried out using a disc with a diameter greater than the internal diameter of the body as well as a membrane whose material is identical to that of the inner layer of the body, namely paper. However, this process does not make it possible to obtain a good seal. In fact, in this process, where bonding is used, it is intended that the ends of the body become impregnated with adhesive, since the latter must infiltrate therein by capillary action in order to moisten it. Thus, the internal paper layer allows this infiltration. Therefore, this bonding process does not guarantee the tightness of the box body.

The present invention aims to overcome these drawbacks, and proposes to provide a package whose bottom and cover are of a cost price proportionally equivalent to that of the body of the package, while ensuring rigidity and resistance identical, whatever the format and the section of the packaging, perfect liquid and gas tightness, total inviolability, and while still improving the external presentation of said packaging.

The subject of the invention is, in fact, a method of manufacturing and placing simultaneously a bottom or a cover on the body of a tubular packaging made of composite materials comprising a sealed internal complex, compatible with the product to be packaged, one or more layers of a material more rigid than the internal complex and, optionally, an external layer or complex, printed or not, consisting of applying to the body, in the immediate vicinity of one of its two ends, a complex, identical to that internal to the body of the package and in contact with the product to be packaged, the section of which is U-shaped and determines with the end of the body a cavity, (see US-A-2 438 430 for example), process characterized in that the complex is applied, in a completely sealed manner, by sealing, gluing or other, prior to placing on the complex, inside this cavity, several sheets, which are themselves maintained in place by gluing, the lower sheet being directly glued to the complex, then the following sheets being successively glued to each other, the sheets being made of a more rigid material than the complex and the number of sheets to be applied depending on the stiffness of the bottom or lid of the packaging to be obtained.

According to the invention, the method of manufacturing and placing simultaneously a bottom or a cover on the body 1 of a tubular packaging made of composite materials comprising an internal complex 2 sealed, compatible with the product to be packaged , one or more layers 3 of a more rigid material than the complex 2 and, optionally, an outer layer or complex 4, whether or not printed, consisting of applying to the body 1, in the immediate vicinity of one 1 ′ of its two ends, a complex 7, identical to that 2 internal to the body 1 of the packaging and contact with the product to be packaged, the cross section of which is U-shaped and determines with the end 1 ′ of the body 1 a cavity 15, consists in applying the complex 7 in a completely sealed manner by sealing, bonding or the like, prior to a placement on the complex 7, inside this cavity 15, of several sheets 8, which are themselves held in place by bonding, the lower sheet 8A being directly bonded to the complex 7, then the following sheets 8B , ... 8Z being bonded successively to each other, the sheets 8 being made of a more rigid material than the complex 7 and the number of sheets 8 to be applied being a function of the rigidity of the bottom or of the cover of the package to be get.

The sheets 8 are held in place by bonding, the bottom sheet 8A being directly bonded to the complex 7 and any subsequent sheets 8B ... and 8Z being bonded to each other, the sheets 8 may be made of corrugated paper, in cardboard, wood, metal, synthetic material, expanded polystyrene or any other material.

Selon la première variante de l'invention, le complexe 7 est replié sur la surface externe de l'extrémité tubulaire 1′ du corps 1 de l'emballage, juste avant son application par scellage, collage ou autre (figures 1B et 2B).According to the first variant of the invention, the complex 7 is folded over the external surface of the tubular end 1 ′ of the body 1 of the packaging, just before its application by sealing, gluing or the like (FIGS. 1B and 2B).

Selon la seconde variante de l'invention, l'extrémité tubulaire 1′ du corps 1 de l'emballage pourvu du complexe 7 est évasée, de manière à renforcer la rigidité totale de l'emballage (figure 3E).According to the second variant of the invention, the tubular end 1 ′ of the body 1 of the package provided with the complex 7 is flared, so as to reinforce the total rigidity of the package (FIG. 3E).

As can be seen in Figure 3, it will be possible to apply, in addition, a layer or a complex external 9 which can be identical to that 4 external to the body 1 of the packaging on the upper sheet 8A, ... or 8Z and possibly on the edge of the tubular end 1 ′ covered or not with the complex 7 (FIG. 3F) .

Selon la troisième variante de l'invention, l'extrémité tubulaire 1′ du corps 1 de l'emballage est rembordée autour du complexe 7 et éventuellement de la feuille supérieure 8A, ... ou 8Z, en forme de U, de manière à renforcer la rigidité totale de l'emballage (figures 4F et 5E).According to the third variant of the invention, the tubular end 1 ′ of the body 1 of the packaging is wrapped around the complex 7 and possibly of the upper sheet 8A, ... or 8Z, in the shape of a U, so as to reinforce the total rigidity of the packaging (Figures 4F and 5E).

As can be seen in FIG. 4, it is also possible to apply, in addition, a layer or an external complex 9 printed or not, which may be identical to that 4 external to the body 1 of the package, on the upper sheet 8A , ... or 8Z, if necessary just before the wrapping operation (Figure 4E).

The method of manufacturing and placing a bottom or a cover on the body 1 of a package therefore no longer consists, as in the prior art, on the one hand, of producing the bottom or the cover, then, on the other hand, to attach it and fix it to the body 1 by sealing, gluing, stapling or the like, but to manufacture the base or the cover simultaneously with its positioning on the body 1.

The process therefore consists of carrying out the following operations:
  • sealing of the complex 7 in the immediate vicinity of one 1 ′ of its two ends either on the internal wall of the body 1 (FIGS. 3B, 4B and 5B), or on the external wall (FIGS. 1B and 2B) if the complex 7 is previously folded before sealing or gluing, which, given its very small thickness, presents no difficulty. In all cases, the complex 7 is arranged so that its section is U-shaped facing the inside of the body 1 of the package, so as to present a cavity 15 delimited by the complex 7 itself and the tubular end 1 ′ of the body 1. This complex 7 will advantageously be identical to that 2 of the body of the packaging and may be constituted, for example, by three layers, the internal layer being made of paper of 40 to 60 g / m², the intermediate layer of aluminum 9 to 18 µ thick and the outer layer in a varnish or a synthetic film of 3 to 30 g / m² (for example a polyethylene film).
    The use of such a complex 7 for the bottom or the lid therefore makes it possible to make substantial savings on the cost price of such packaging, the aluminum layer having the barrier properties essential for perfect sealing, not having more than a thickness of 9 to 18 µ, instead of 50 or 60 µ. Of course, the sealing of such a complex 7 on the body 1 of the packaging is carried out while consuming only a minimum of calories.
  • placing one or more sheets 8 inside the cavity 15 on the complex 7 (FIGS. 1C and 1D, 2C and 2D, 3C and 3D, 4C and 4D, 5C and 5D). The sheets 8 will be held in place either by bonding (Figures 2D and 3D), or by subsequent overlapping (Figures 4F and 5E), or by bonding a layer or an external complex 9 (Figures 1E and 3F) etc. .., depending on the stiffness of the desired packaging.

In general, sheets 8 will be glued. Before the arrangement of the sheet 8A on the complex 7, either the contact surface of the complex 7 with the sheet 8 is coated, or the contact surface of the sheet 8 with the complex 7, or the two surfaces, partially or totally d 'a layer of glue 14. Then, if additional sheets 8B ... and 8Z are to be applied, either the contact surface of the first sheet 8A is coated, in place, with the second 8B, or the contact surface of the second sheet 8B with the first 8A, or the two surfaces, partially or totally with a layer of adhesive 14, and so on up to the sheet 8Z. The adhesive used may for example be polyvinyl acetate.

Elle pourra varier entre 0,3 mm et 1 mm.The type of material to be used for the sheets 8 depends, of course, on the product to be packaged. Wood allows excellent insulation to temperature variations, metal allows heat transfer, etc. If 8 sheets of cardboard are used, the grammage will normally be greater than 225 g / m². The thickness of each sheet 8 will vary depending on the weight and quantity of the product to be packaged. It can vary between 0.3 mm and 1 mm.

The upper sheet 8A ... or 8Z can be rectilinear like the other sheets 8 (Figures 1D, 3D and 4D), or U-shaped (Figures 2D and 5D), like the complex 7, in order to further increase the stiffness of the cover or bottom.

The number of sheets 8 depends on the desired rigidity. It is therefore possible, thanks to the invention, to modulate the very structure of the bottom or of the cover simultaneously with its installation, depending on the product to be packaged, its weight, the dimensions of the package, its section, etc ...
  • placement of the layer or of the external complex 9 (FIGS. 1E, 3F and 4E). This is most often a label which will be stuck on the top sheet 8A, ... or 8Z. If the tubular end 1 ′ of the body 1 is subsequently folded up (FIG. 4F), this positioning of the label must take place before the rebounding (FIG. 4E). On the other hand, if the tubular end 1 ′ of the body 1 is flared (FIG. 3E), it will take place after the flaring (FIG. 3F). The use of a label in the form of a complex makes it possible to obtain a seal also from the outside to the inside and prevents, for example, that an external liquid comes to wet the sheets 8.
  • possible installation of a cap 5 (FIG. 6) or of a removable cap 6 (FIG. 7), in order to protect the cover or the bottom in very specific cases, and above all in order to allow the packaging of the packaging after opening. The cap 5 or the plug 6 may, for example, be made of synthetic material.

In accordance with another preferred characteristic of the invention, the complex 7 is provided with a weakening 11 of one of its layers, so as to facilitate the tearing off of the cover of the body 1 of the packaging, a tongue of tear-off 10 possibly being glued or welded to the upper sheet 8A, ... or 8Z before or after placement of the latter, a slight clearance 13 being provided between the sheets 8 and the internal surface of the body 1 (Figures 6 and 7). The weakening 11 makes it possible to facilitate full opening of the cover. The tongue 10 being arranged on the upper sheet 8A, ... or 8Z, it is, of course, essential that, according to this embodiment, the sheets 8 are glued to each other, the sheet 8A being glued also on the complex 7. The embrittlement It will advantageously be located on the vertical edge 7 'of the complex 7 and over its entire circumference. The clearance 13 provided between all of the sheets 8 and the internal surface of the body 1 allows better removal of the cover.

According to an alternative embodiment of the opening device, the sheets 8A, ... and 8Z are each provided with an opening 12 and are arranged so that these openings 12 are superimposed, thus allowing direct access to the complex 7 of so as to be able to pierce it, a tear-off tab 10 possibly being glued or welded to the complex 7 before or after installation of the latter (FIGS. 8 and 9). Thus, partial opening of the cover is possible.

The packaging obtained by application of the process consists of a body 1 of tubular shape comprising a sealed internal complex 2, compatible with the product to be packaged, one or more layers 3 of a more rigid material than the complex 2 and, optionally, a layer or an external complex 4 printed or not, the packaging comprising a bottom and / or a cover formed, from the inside of the packaging to the outside, by a complex 7 identical to that internal to the body 1 and in contact with the product to be packaged, using one or more sheets 8 of a more rigid material than the complex 7, such as corrugated paper, cardboard, wood, metal, a synthetic material, expanded polystyrene or any other material, the number of sheets 8 to be applied being a function of the rigidity of the bottom or of the cover of the packaging to be obtained, and optionally by a layer or an external complex 9 printed or not.

According to a preferred characteristic, the complex 7 is folded over the tubular end 1 ′ of the body 1 of the packaging, the upper sheet 8A, ... or 8Z being either rectilinear (FIG. 1E) or in the shape of a U (FIG. 2D) so as to reinforce the rigidity of the bottom or cover of the package.

According to another preferred characteristic, the tubular end 1 ′ of the body 1 of the package is either flared (FIG. 3F), as well as the complex 7, or is wrapped around the complex 7 (FIG. 4F) and possibly the top sheet 8A , ... or 8Z in a U shape (figure 5E).

As shown in Figures 10 to 13, the means for the establishment of a bottom or a cover on the body 1 of a tubular packaging of composite material consist of a device 16 for the establishment of the bottom of the packaging and an identical device 16 for fitting the packaging lid, the filling of the packaging with the product to be packaged being carried out at a work station located between these two devices 16, each device 16 being either of the carousel type (FIGS. 10 and 11), or of the line station type (FIGS. 12 and 13), with a vertical or horizontal axis, the body 1 of the packaging can also be arranged vertically or horizontally.

poste A
: introduction du corps 1 ;
poste B
: mise en place du complexe 7 et scellage à chaud ;
poste C
: dépose de la colle ;
poste D
: mise en place et collage de la feuille 8A ;
poste E
: dépose de la colle ;
poste F
: mise en place et collage de la feuille 8B rectiligne ou en forme de U ;
poste G
: dépose de la colle ;
poste H
: mise en place et collage de la couche ou du complexe 9 sous la forme d'une étiquette ;
poste I
: rembordement ou évasage de l'extrémité tubulaire 1′ du corps 1 ;
poste J
: mise en place d'une cape 14 ou d'un bouchon 15 ;
poste K
: poste de contrôle ;
poste L
By way of example, for the manufacture and installation of the bottom of a tubular packaging in the form of a cylindrical box, identical to that shown in Figures 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawings, such a device 16 can be equipped with twelve stations of work, namely:
post A
: introduction of the body 1;
post B
: installation of complex 7 and heat sealing;
post C
: removing the glue;
post D
: establishment and bonding of sheet 8A;
post E
: removing the glue;
post F
: establishment and bonding of the sheet 8B straight or U-shaped;
post G
: removing the glue;
post H
: establishment and bonding of the layer or complex 9 in the form of a label;
post I
: folding or flaring of the tubular end 1 ′ of the body 1;
post J
: fitting a cap 14 or a plug 15;
post K
: checkpoint ;
post L
: evacuation of body 1 from the packaging provided with the bottom.
Then the filling of the box is carried out on another station, and it is then brought into a second device 16, allowing the manufacture and the establishment of the cover. If the latter must have strictly the same structure as the bottom, the second device 16 will be strictly identical to the first.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown in the accompanying drawings.
