GAS DISTRIBUTION DEVICE IN ELECTROFILTERS.
It is known that the raw gas introduced into the electrostatic precipitators must be distributed uniformly over the cross section of the electrostatic precipitator, several times greater than that of the gas inlet. In this respect, it is necessary to take into account, for the choice of the means of distribution ..., of, the way in which the separation of the dust takes place either transversely or against the direction of flow of the gas, in order to '' avoid dust deposits on the distribution elements.
It is for this reason that up to now we have had to be satisfied with having vertical distribution plates in the intermediate part, or sieves or the equivalent at the gas inlet end of the electrostatic precipitator, and accept the drawback of an unsatisfactory spatial distribution of the gas in the electrostatic precipitator because of the difficulty of evacuating the dust.
According to the present invention, distribution members such as guide plates, grids, sieves or the like are mounted not only at the gas inlet end of the electrostatic precipitator, but also in the gas inlet end. intermediate part, called diffuser, flaring between the gas inlet pipe and the inlet of the electrostatic precipitator, in such a way that at least two distribution partitions, and preferably three - and more, with under each of them a dust hopper, are mounted at a distance from each other in the diffuser, and according to another feature of the invention, with a free passage cross-section increasing in the direction of flow of the gas.
This also provides the advantage of being able to compensate at the inlet of the diffuser for an uneven distribution of the gas inside the latter, so as to obtain a uniform distribution of the gas and of the dust over the entire cross section of the diffuser. electro-filter with the least possible pressure losses; on the other hand, the way in which the partitions are mounted in the diffuser does not hinder the evacuation of dust, which prevents the latter from depositing.

The accompanying drawing represents two embodiments illustrating the invention.
Fig. 1 schematically shows in cross section a diffuser for a horizontal electrostatic precipitator, and FIG. 2 a diffuser for a vertical electrostatic precipitator. In these figures, 1 designates the raw gas inlet pipe, 2 the intermediate part (diffuser) which widens in three dimensions (spatially) towards the gas inlet 3 of the electrostatic precipitator 4. According to the invention , distribution partitions 5 and 6, mounted at a distance from each other in the diffuser 2 and below which there are dust hoppers 11, 12, have a total cross section of free passage 7 and 8 which grows in the direction of the gas flow (indicated by the arrows).
Following the example of execution of FIG. 1 where the opening angle of the diffuser 2 is for example 66, the distance between the distribution eloisons 5.6 is approximately equal to half the length of the diffuser. In the same figure, where the ratio of the inlet section to the outlet section of the diffuser is b to 3b and where there are two distribution partitions, the free passage section is approximately equal to the inlet cross section of the diffuser.
For vertical electrostatic precipitators, it is advisable to use the embodiment of the screens shown in FIG. 2, according to which these sieves, comprising the passage openings 7 and 8, are divided into sections 5 and 6 which can tilt around the axes 9 and 10. These different sieve sections can be actuated mechanically or by hand for the tilt in the opposite direction as indicated by the arrows, to the vertical position in order to remove any accumulated dust. Known means can advantageously be used to loosen dust, for example, by striking the distribution partitions, 5, 6 if they are resiliently suspended, or by shaking them continuously or periodically.
