<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
REVENDICATIONS.

INSTALLATION FOR MILLING 'GROOVES9 ESPECIALLY IN MASONRY
The invention relates to an installation for milling grooves and, in particular, masonry grooves, with an apparatus in which the motor, the mechanism and the milling machine, arranged with an axis parallel to the motor, are brought together in a transportable assembly, and which is provided with means capable of being displaced transversely to the longitudinal axis of the apparatus, with a view to guiding it along the surface to be grooved. The grooved cutter must be adjusted by this transverse movement of the guide means.
In devices of this kind known to date, the movement of the guide means is complicated.
If, as provided according to the invention, the apparatus is mounted in a particular guide frame, so as to be able to pivot about its own central axis, and if the axis of the milling machine is provided eccentric with respect to the The central axis of the device, the depth of the grooves can be changed by simply pivoting the device in the guide frame.
The protective cover placed on the eyelet of the bearing of the shaft of the milling machine must then, in order to meet the intended purpose, be able to pivot on the eyelet of the bearing, with a view to aligning its lower parallel side. parallel to the wall.
The mentioned guide frame, capable of pivoting on the cylindrical casing of the apparatus, also makes it possible to provide the rollers so that the apparatus can be guided along this wall, both in free hand, on the surface to be grooved, only by means of guide rails, with forced stroke.
To this end, it suffices to provide the guide frame provided with support arms, for the guide wheels, which can pivot from 90 and be stopped in their extreme position, so that the wheels can move. one hand, by means of axes of rotation parallel to the surface to be grooved, like carrying wheels, on it
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
ci, and, on the other hand, by means of an axis of rotation perpendicular to this surface, like rollers, on rails which are arranged parallel to the surface, with a spacing such that the apparatus can move between them and said surface.
Other new characteristics will emerge from the detailed description, given below, of the object of the invention, which is shown schematically in the drawing, by way of example of an embodiment.
Figure 1 shows a side view of the apparatus, part of which is shown in section.
Figure 2 gives, on a smaller scale, a top view of the device, which, in this case, is guided on guide rails.
Figures 3 and 4 show, on an even smaller scale, seen from the front and from the side, a frame designed to support and move the guide rails.
FIG. 5 shows, on the same scale as in FIG. 1, a detail of the embodiment.
The wall to receive a groove 111 is designated by 11. On this wall moves, by means of wheels 12, the apparatus shown in Figure 1.
This apparatus comprises a cylindrical housing 13, in which are mounted an electric motor 14, with fan 15, and a mechanism 16. At one of the front ends, this housing has a bearing eyelet 131, intended to support the shaft 17. of the milling machine, the shaft which is provided eccentrically with respect to the axis of rotation of the motor 14 and of the housing 13. For the operation of the device, a handle 132 is provided at the housing 13. Close to the hand gripping this handle 132 is arranged, on the one hand, the actuator 18 of the engagement and release system and, on the other hand, the operating lever 19 of a reverser of the direction of rotation for engine. Next to the handle 132, the front face of the housing 13 has the shape of a ball. Also from this side, the power supply cable 20 enters the housing.
The dividing wall 21, between the motor and the part constituted by the mechanism of the housing 13, is interrupted at one point. From this interruption, a pipe 22 passes through the housing of the mechanism and goes towards the central bore 171 of the shaft 17 of the milling machine, so that the cooling air drawn by the fan through the housing of the motor comes out. at the front end of the milling machine shaft which is in the internal space of the protective cover 23. As a result, the cooling air is forced out, as it continues on its way, parallel to the wall 11, through the slot which remains free between this protective cover 23 and said wall 11, to be r4inurer.
Thus, the dust falling from the groove 111 is, along the wall, entrained directly towards the ground. On the free bearing end of the shaft 17 of the milling machine, the milling machine 24 is fixed by means of the nut 25. It is armed with hard metal plates 26, so that the teeth work alternately on the. one and the other sides. The cover 23 is pivotally mounted on the eyelet 131 and can be secured to this eyelet with the threaded bolt 27.
A handle 231 is also provided on the cover 23, so that the device can be pushed safely by means of the wheels 12 against the wall 11 using both hands. which grip, on the one hand, the handle 132 and, on the other hand, the handle 231, and that it can be moved along the wall, in the working direction of the milling machine 24. The wheels 12 rotate on axes '28, which are inserted in the end of the support arms 29. These support arms 29, which are triangular, are, for their part, embedded, by means of a journal 30, which there is fixed in eyelets 311 (see also figure 2), which are provided to rings 31.
The two rings 31 can move by rotation in peripheral grooves of the housing 13 and they are interconnected by spacers 32, so as to form a rigid guide frame.
In the case of the position, drawn in solid lines in Figure 1,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
support arm 29, only one of which is visible, the wheels 12 are in the position for which the apparatus can be moved by hand on the wall 11, the journals 30 and their bearing eyelets 311 are conformed to a way, which is not shown, such that they allow pivoting of the arms 29, by 90, to extreme positions in which they can be blocked. The other extreme position is shown in FIG. 1, in lines. mixed. Another stopper system 30 serves to secure the bolt in the axial direction.
Since, in hand operation in particular, it is difficult to maintain the direction prescribed for the groove, the invention provides, in the installation, a forced guide, in case it is a question of a hard or irregularly hard masonry. A pair of rails is used consisting of tubes 33, which are held at a desired distance from each other by spacers 34, the whole of which represents a rigid steering frame.
In the case of the extreme position of the pivoting arms 29, which is only indicated in phantom lines in FIG. 1, the four carrying wheels 12 have a position for which each group of two opposite rollers forming a pair encloses the pair of rails 33 by means of their peripheral grooves, in such a way that the device, secured in the direction of the axis, can be moved transversely to its axial direction, on these rails. The apparatus itself is, in this case, in the space between the wall 11 and the pair of rails 33, which is kept parallel to said wall.
With a view to maintaining this pair of rails, there are provided, as can be seen in Figures 3 and 4, tubular columns or uprights.
35, which, by foot plates 352, rest on the ground of the place in question and which are kept at a desired distance from the wall 11, parallel to the latter, by means of support pieces 36 and 37 The support piece 36 is applied, by its point, against the wall 11, while the support piece 37 is in the form of a strut capable of being extended and directed obliquely towards the rear. . By appropriate tightening of the support pieces 36 and 37, the length of which can be changed, the upright 35, fixed to the support piece 36, can be maintained in the desired position. To the support piece 36 is also fixed, for its part, the pair of rails 33, in which the device can move transversely, in the manner already described.
By this transverse movement, the milling machine 24 digs the groove 111 in the wall 11, which is therefore parallel to the direction of the pair of wheels. The depth of the groove can be changed without any particular measure being taken at the apparatus or at the frame, by simply rotating the cylindrical housing 13 in the rings 31 of the guide frame. If the groove 111 is made over the entire width of the supporting frame shown in FIG. 3, it suffices for the support pieces 37 to be loosened; after that, the whole frame can be moved sideways by a corresponding amount and re-fastened.
It goes without saying that one can also provide the telescopic uprights 35 and stretch them between the ceiling and the floor of the room, dispensing with the support pieces 37. The method of fixing the pair of rails 33 to the pieces - These support 36 also makes it possible to keep the pair of rails not only horizontal but also at inclinations determined with respect to the horizontal. This is shown in phantom in Figure 3, where it is also shown in the same way that the support pieces 37 can, laterally, serve as props.
The uprights 35 have holes 351, by which a bracket 38 can be suspended, forming, at different levels, bearings on which a step 39 can be placed for the worker operating the apparatus.
The apparatus described, with the milling machine shaft extending from the front side, has the particular advantage that in this arrangement it can be used very usefully also for work to be carried out in the axial direction, such as bores, etc. Therefore, according to the representation of FIG. 5, an auxiliary part has been added to the apparatus. We can screw the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
part 40 on the end of the shaft 17, when the milling machine 24 is withdrawn; the part 40 carries, for example, on its truncated cone 401, a bore plate 41. For the routing of the air leaving the central bore 171 of the shaft 17 of the milling machine, the part 40, the frustoconical part 401 and the bore plate 41 have a central bore 402 and 412, respectively.
The described running frame can also be used with advantage for other tools than wall milling machines.
CLAIMS.
1. Installation for milling grooves, in particular in masonry, in which the motor, the mechanism and the milling machine arranged with an axis parallel to the motor are united in a transportable device, which is provided with means which can be moved transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis of the device, with a view to guiding it along the surface to be grooved, characterized in that the device is mounted, in the guide frame, to pivot about its own central axis and in that the axis of the milling machine is provided eccentric with respect to the median axis of the apparatus.
