<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

IMPROVEMENTS TO ANALOGUE BOXES AND CONTAINERS CALLED INVIOLABLE.
The invention relates to improvements made to packaging comprising substantially a generally prismatic or conical body, a base and a cover fixed by pressure or crimping or by similar means.
The object of the invention is to introduce, between the cover and the body of the packaging, a simple means capable of promoting the removal of the cover without damaging the body of the container and while maintaining the cover in such conditions. conditions which it normally remains usable for the subsequent closure of the container.
The use of a small diameter threadlike element interposed between the upper inner part of the body of the container and the lid has already been recommended, but expressly for the purpose of tearing, cutting or severing the corresponding part of the container in order to separate the cover. This means has the drawback of having to prepare for the tear by providing a groove in the body of the packaging and by causing the latter to pass through said filiform element. The result is that the packaging is relatively expensive and that, on the other hand, it does not have sufficient sealing, which is particularly detrimental for the good preservation of certain chemical, pharmaceutical or aromatic products.
It has also been proposed to alleviate these drawbacks by introducing this simple means of opening into containers with an externally fitted cover.
In this case, the cover was secured to the container by an external covering and a thread-like element was interposed between the container and said covering, facing the junction line between the container and the cover.
The filiform element therefore has, in this application, the function of tearing the covering in order to allow the cover to be removed.
The present invention relates to improvements to these
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
known means for using a thread-like element of good resistance under completely new conditions and for the sole purpose of effecting a slight deformation of the cover, respectively of the corresponding part of the container, with a view to reducing sufficiently or even d 'relieve the pressure or snagging by which the cover is firmly attached to the container.
For this purpose, and in accordance with the invention, the thread-like element is arranged and packaged in such a way that, by means of a duly oriented tensile force, said thread-like element is interposed successively between all the adjacent parts of the cover. and of the outer surface of the container, which automatically causes the mechanical separation between the container and said cover and therefore makes the separation possible, practically without effort or by a reduced effort of said cover . '@ @
By means of these new prescriptions, it will obviously be possible to give the filiform element, in the receptacle, a relative position which varies according to the type of receptacle and, above all, according to the mode of energetic connection between the receptacle and the cover.
In general, however, the filiform element will be interposed between the container and the cover and it will be extended at least at one end, so as to be interposed between the outer edge of the cover and the corresponding part of the outer surface of the body. of the container, said end of the filiform element thus being extended by a sufficient amount to be easily gripped and stressed by a tensile force. For this purpose, said filiform element will favorably carry at least one relatively resistant body, for example a small crossbar, a lead, a seal, a button, a tassel and these bodies can be packaged in the form of decorative, advertising elements. , security, guarantee or others.
As the filiform element, use may be made of a textile material, of a metallic thread, of a synthetic material or the like.
By way of example, without any limiting nature whatsoever, some embodiments are described below with reference to the appended drawing, in which: FIG. 1 shows, in perspective view, an embodiment with sections promoting understanding of the process , main object of the invention; Figures 2 to 6 show schematically the successive phases of the process according to the invention; Figures 7, 8 and 9 show schematically, in radial section, three equivalent embodiments of the process of the invention; FIG. 10 shows, in partial elevation view, an embodiment in which both ends of the filamentary element are used; Figure 11 is a schematic plan view of the embodiment of Figure 10.
In these different embodiments, we find the body of the receptacle or packaging 1, the cover 2 and at least one filiform element 3.
The latter is interposed between the cover 2, and said body of the container 1 in such a way that at least in one place it is interposed between the outer edge of the cover 2 and the corresponding part of the outer surface of the body 1. and in this place it is sufficiently extended to be able to be grasped and, possibly, to carry a relatively resistant object,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
for example a seal with (figure 1), a small cross-member '2 (figures 3 to 5), warranty lead 6 (figure 10).
As can be seen from the examination of these different figures, the process of opening the container or the packaging consists in exerting on the filiform element 3. a duly oriented traction (especially shown in figure 5) of so as to interpose said filiform element successively between each point of the outer edge of the cover and the corresponding part of the outer surface of the box.
It will be noted that, by this process, only a very slight deformation of the cover, respectively of the box, is produced, which makes removal of the cover relatively easy.
In the execution of FIG. 7, there is shown the application of the improvements, objects of the invention, to a box or container 1 with a crimped lid 2. The filiform element .3. is interposed between the outer edge of the cover and the corresponding part of the container and, as shown diagrammatically in FIGS. 3, 4 and 5, said filiform element is extended so as to pass, in a way, under the outer bead of the crimping.
In the example of FIG. 8, which is also that of FIG. 1, the threadlike element is, in a way, disposed at the end of the body 1 and the cover 2 covers said threadlike element which is simply extended, at least by one end, between the outer edge of the cover and the corresponding part of the container.
Finally, in FIG. 9, a variant of the execution of FIG. 8 has been shown diagrammatically; the filiform element, instead of being placed at the end of the body of the container, surrounds the upper part of the latter.
One could thus multiply the embodiments by changing the relative position of the filiform element with respect to the container and / or to the cover.
The process of the invention can thus be appropriately adapted to the type of receptacle and, above all, to the type of cover and to its method of securing to said receptacles.
It is obviously possible to condition the filamentary element so as to leave visible either one end or both ends.
This second embodiment is shown schematically in FIGS. 10 and 11. In all the embodiments, the visible end of the filiform element 2 can be momentarily immobilized, for example by a gluing element 7. or by any other temporary fixing means.
The above-described improvements are applicable to all kinds of boxes, receptacles, packaging or other, the body and the cover being made of the same material or of a different material and these materials being cardboard, metal, a molding material, and , more generally, all the materials generally in use or likely to be used in the packaging industry. Also, the improvements which are the subject of the invention are applicable to packaging of all shapes and sizes.
