<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Crane for car trucks" Patent application filed in Sweden on September 19, 1947
The present invention relates to lifting cranes for automobile trolleys, which are constituted by a column which is in principle vertical mounted and fixed on the trolley, and an articulated crane arm, detached from this column, characterized by the possibility of adjusting the height. length, both of the column and of the arm, in order to vary the lifting height of the crane and to reduce the height of the crane when it is not in use, to allow, for example , the trolley to enter garages, to pass under low bridges, etc.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the column and the arm of the crane are formed by

two sections of tubes of iron, or of a similar material, one of which penetrates into the other and which can be immobilized with respect to each other in any desired position, by means of a blocking. The telescopically assembled elements of the column shall be proportioned so that, with the crane in its lowest position, it does not rise above the highest point of the carriage.
The invention will be described in more detail in the following, with reference to the arrangement shown in the accompanying drawing.
Fig.l shows a side view of an automobile platform provided with a crane according to the invention.
Fig. 2 shows a view from the rear of the same platform.
Fig. 3 shows the crane seen from above and on a larger scale.
On the platform is mounted a vertical column consisting of two telescopically assembled tubes 1 and 2, one of which, tube 2, can move inside the other and be immobilized in the desired position by means of '' a suitable locking device, or in this case by a stop pin 3. The column is braced in a known manner, in the transverse direction, by two tie rods 4. On the column 1, 2 is articulated the crane arm which is formed by two tubes 5,6 assembled telescopically and which can be extended like the column, by moving the tube 6 outwards and blocking it with respect to the other tube 5 by means of 'a stop pin 7.
Between the upper end
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
from the column and the free end of the crane arm, a support cable or chain 8 has been placed, which divides, at a certain distance from the column, into two strands 8a and 8b fixed at each end d 'a cross member, itself fixed to the top of the tube 2. Thanks to this arrangement of the support cable, the crane arm is automatically drawn into the middle of the platform of the truck. The lifting cable 9, which is wound on a lifting drum 11 actuated by the gearbox 10, passes over a pulley 12 placed at the lower part of the column and on two pulleys 13 and 14 placed respectively at the free ends. column and arm of the crane.
To further brace the crane, especially for lifting very heavy objects, two tie rods 15 can optionally be attached to the front part of the trolley (fig.l).
The invention can, of course, be modified in many different ways while still being weighted within the scope of the invention.
CLAIMS
1) Lifting crane for automobile trolleys, characterized by the fact that it consists of a column in principle vertical, carried by the trolley, and a crane arm starting from this column and articulated on it, this column and this arm having adjustable lengths.
