"Manufacture of crampons".
This invention relates to the manufacture of crampons.
In general, this invention consists of a method of manufacturing studs consisting in upsetting a bar made of an aluminum and magnesium alloy, said bar having as a section a wedge united to a web part, arranged between the bars. ends of a head having inwardly folded edge portions and wedge section, said method also comprising transversely cutting the omr bar to form separate studs.
The soul part can be provided with barbs.
The invention also includes the construction of a stud made according to said method, in which the edge portions folded inwardly of the head replace the branches of the usual U! the soul part forms a nail or a point.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The wedge portion of the tip may be tapered for the purpose of providing a tapered tip.
The head is preferably provided with serrations formed during the upsetting process.
The advanced crampon can be used to secure a pair of barbed wire with the tip between the wires.
A practical embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a forced bar, before it has been cut transversely, and FIG. 2 is a cross section made in a wooden post showing a spike securing a pair of wires to the post.
In the drawings, resigns the wedge, 2 denotes the core part, 3 denotes the head, and 4 denotes the inwardly folded edge portions of wedge section, 5 denotes serrations formed on the head 3, and 6 denotes barbs formed on the core part 2. 7 denotes a wooden post and 8 denotes wires attached to the post 7 by means of the head 3 and the inwardly folded edge portions 4 of the clamp.
The spike shown is produced by transversely cutting the upset bar.
In the construction shown, it is assumed that the wedge has a chiseled point, it being understood that the point can then be subjected to sharpening.
