BOSAY CHARITES AND LEBOIS FREDERIC.
Adjustment vice allowing to automatically clamp any shape of part.
The current vices with parallel jaws have certain drawbacks: If the screw is tightened strongly on a part which is not strictly parallel, this part gives way under the weight of the hammer and the tool.
If we clamp a cylindrical part, tube or round iron for example, it is impossible to hold this part stable if the worker acts with too much force.
The vice which is the object of the present invention radically eliminates all these drawbacks.
Descrition.
The fi.I represents a section in elevation. A is the driving jaw. A is the rotating receiving jaw.? is the pivot of rotation of the jaw integral with the body b.
Fig. II is a plan view of the vise. Fig.III is an elevation view of pEaee. Fig. 4 shows a plan view with a metal wedge clamped between the jaws. V is a partial view of a rotating base. The fig.VI represents a removable jaw. The fig. Also shows toothed rectangular notches, for small diameters of pipes or cylinders; .
Operation. oven clamp any part, we operate with the screw as in the current vices, but here is the great advantage, because whatever the shape of the part, it is always strongly tightened; this peculiarity lies in the fact that a rotating jaw (see fig. IV) is used, which matches all the positions with respect to the shape of the part engaged, as can be seen, part c not being parallel, the rotating jaw has rectified this lack of parallelism, the second advantage is that the clamping is more forceful than in an ordinary vice regardless of the wear.
Fig. V, represents the rotating base, the hole 4 is the centce of rotation of the central pivot integral with the frame.

2 is therefore movable around the pivot, while locking is effected by means of the hinge 3, engaging in one of the notches a, the operation is very rapid and the locking is perfect.
Claims.
I) An adjustment vice characterized in that the receiving jaw is movable on a vertical axis integral with the frame b.
2) An adjustment vice according to I, characterized in that under the pressure of the screw the receiving jaw follows all the positions, corresponding to the shapes of any part that is engaged.
3) An adjustment vice according to I and 2, characterized in that the hollows under the jaws are cut into prisms for clamping the cylindrical parts.
4) An adjustment vice according to 1,2, and 3, characterized in that one fa: makes a rectangular notch in the bottom of each jaw to clamp the rounds of small diameters.
5) An adjustment vice according to 1,2,3 and 4, characterized in that one can make use of a rotary plate, with a lock engaging in one of the locking notches to give any position vice on a vertical central pivot.
6) A vice adjustment according to 1,2,3,4 and 5, characterized in that one can place a removable jaw to clamp cylindrical parts on a vertical or horizontal axis.
