SERRE-JOINTS A ROCHET ET CAME.
DESCRIPTION ET FONCTIONNEMENT.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

RATCHET AND CAM CLAMP.
The operation of tightening several parts with the standard screw clamp, always suffered from a great drawback, "need to tighten the screw a large number of turns to adapt to the work in hand as well as it must be loosened and tightened for each repetition on the same job ". When changing from one thickness of part to another, the disadvantage inherent in the standard clamp becomes even more apparent.
NON-LIMITATION EXAMPLE.
The ratchet and cam clamp has been designed: 1) To avoid the aforementioned drawbacks of tightening and loosening to users during each operation.
2) To allow to combine. the advantages of instant adjustment and locking.
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION.
As shown in Plate I, the design of the C-Shaped Ratchet and Cam Clamp includes:
A gooseneck mark I in which slides a sleeve mark 2 cut into a rack, guided by a screw mark 7 controlled by a pawl mark 3 and a spring mark 4.
In the sleeve reference 2 is placed a clamping pin reference 5 retained by a spring reference 60
At the upper part of the sleeve, reference 2 is placed a caliper reference 8 forming a fixed point of rotation of the handle reference 9, the part between the caliper is in the form of a cam.
THE OPERATION is very simple, it suffices to clamp several parts, to push the sleeve mark 2 with the clamping pin mark 5 against the part, the pawl mark 3 instantly prevents the sleeve

item 2 to reassemble and by means of a slight pressure on the handle item 9 the progressive tightening cam locks everything.
The pitch of the sleeve, reference 2 (rack) of half the stroke made by the cam of the handle, reference 9, means that an instantaneous adjustment can be made while considering the necessary return due to the play almost always existing between two parts a tighten."
