<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Bloo with isolation-partition and machine for its manufacture.
The invention relates to the manufacture of a hollow or solid block, for the construction of walls, of any dimensions, made of any material, to which an isolating partition has been added, executed at the same time. maté '= riau or in a material different from the block, which may be located on the living side, or outside the buildings, said partition forming a body with the block, and reserved between it and the block a ventilation system to ensure better thermal insulation, and the drying out of the isolation wall.
In the case of a hollow block, another characteristic of the invention resides in that the cells of the block itself are blind and included between interlocking internal partitions, these arrangements increasing the strength of the block.
The invention also comprises a block of the above type comprising an isolating partition on each face, inner side and outer side, resulting in better protection against atmospheric agents.
Finally, it relates to a machine for the manufacture of this block.

isolation partition. The side seen is that of the bottom of the block.
Fig. 2 shows the vertical section of a wall, with the blocks seen in profile and in section.

Fig. 10 is a front view of the machine.
The f ig. 11, a profile view.
Fig. 12 a horizontal section.
The alveoli a, fig. 1, separating the isolation partition f from the actual block, are in communication with each other, and from block to block, in all directions, after the wall has been built.
The mortar fillings for masking the blocks, horizontal and vertical joints, are only applied over the width of the block; proper, and stop at the cells of the isolation partition. The propagation of humidity by masonry joints crossing the wall right through, is thus avoided.
The upper and lower horizontal edges of the isolation partition have chamfers b, fig. 2 intended to be lined with the coating applied to the surface of the isolation partition. This lining constitutes a load-bearing surface for the isolation partition.
In the vertical direction, the cells of the isolation partition are open at both ends. The upper ends open into a raised part o of the block, freeze 2, this elevation being equal to the thickness of the mortar bed used for masonrying the blocks. This elevation is provided so that the mortar does not come to block the cells reserved for the circulation of the air, during the construction of the wall.
At each end of the blocks, there is provided a groove d, freezes 1 and 2, of a width corresponding to that of the void of the isolation partition, and placed in the same plane as this void. This groove constitutes, after bringing the blocks together, an additional cell for vertical ventilation.
In the horizontal direction, the air circulation is ensured by recesses e fig. 1 and 2 placed at the base of the braces connecting the isolation partition to the block.
Air circulation between the isolation wall and the block will be caused by suction cups established in the isolation partition.
Other systems, to make the cells of the isolation partition communicate with each other, can be envisaged,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
in particular, the device of FIG. 3 where the cells of the isolation partition do not open out at the upper part of the blocks but communicate with each other through holes made in the braces, at any height. These 'holes open into the chimneys reserved at each end of the block. These chimneys are open at each of their ends and open into a horizontal channel i, formed by a groove projecting on the upper face of the block.
It will be noted that, in the case of a hollow block, which is the one shown in the drawings, this block comprises intersecting oblique partitions 1 and loitudina and transverse partitions j1 between which are included a1 blind véoles j2, these arrangements increasing the solidity of the block while giving it additional isolation qualities.
Figs. 4 to 10 refer to the block with two isolation walls. In these figures, the same references designate the same parts as above.
Mortar joints for masonry blocks are only applied over the width of the block between the voids of the isolation partitions. The horizontal joints are made between the raised parts o into which the cells of the two isolation partitions open. The vertical joints, between the two chimneys, constitute the additional cells of the isolation partitions after bringing together the blocks.
An air circulation system is also provided through the body of the block, between the cells of the two isolation partitions.
In the case of a hollow block, for example, as shown in the drawings, this air circulation between the isolation partitions is achieved by means of semi-circular recesses k placed at the side. base of the walls of the compartments of the blocks. One can imagine, by way of a variant, that this air circulation can be obtained by recesses of any shape, placed at any height of the walls of the compartments of the block in the case of a hollow block, or through towards the body of the block, in the case of a solid block.
The machine, shown in FIGS. 11 to 13, for the manufacture of the block according to the invention, this machine being applied both to the block with one isolation partition, and to that with two isolation partitions, the passage from one case to another. the other causing only a change of mold.
The machine is formed of a cast-iron base-1 on which is fixed an angle frame i1 comprising slides 12 in which rollers m serving to guide the body of the mold M.
The concrete settling is obtained by vibrations.
A vibrator with eccentric hammers n actuated by an electric or gasoline motor, by direct or indirect transmission, placed under steel tires which serve to connect the bodies of the mold to one another and to keep them apart.
A device made up of two levers g and q1 and of a counterweight C placed on the frame is used to maneuver a flat bed r intended to give the block the shape necessary for the realization of the above-mentioned patent, that is, ie a flat part with or without an inscription in relief and another recessed part pierced with holes in which the through cores pass when the plate is lowered.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
A set of cores fixed to a steel plate itself fixed to the tires is inside the mold. A part of these cores stops below the level of the mold, 1 other part opens out above the mold. The cores are released from the mold at their base to prevent fouling during manufacture.
Inside the mold, a reotangular frame t fixed at its lower part to the base serves to support a mobile grid intended for transporting the block after demoulding.
The mold is set in motion by a lever u actuating articulated parts connected to this mold.
Machine operation:
The mold being at its upper part, we put the grid in the mold, we put the vibrator in action, we fill the mold with concrete; the mold being filled we lower the plate r which models the top of the block, as said above, we raise this plate as soon as the goal is reached, then we unmold by actuating the lever u in the direction of demoulding and the product is thus finished.
