<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Flour sifter-cleaner.
The present invention relates to a flour sifter-cleaner which provides an excellent yield with a low consumption of motive force, thanks to the arrangements made to ensure a regular supply of flour to the tami, an efficient sifting on the tami. the whole extent of the latter and an effortless rolling of the moving parts.
Regular feeding is of great importance in avoiding both the clogging of the sieve and the loss of flour by refusal, resulting from overfeeding, and the irregularities in the sifting which occur when the flour is overworked as a result of underfeeding. feeding the sieve.
According to the invention, the flour sifter-cleaner is equipped with an automatic distributor which feeds the sieve in proportion to the speed with which the apparatus is operated, with a brush drum rotating in a semi-cylindrical sieve and lined with longitudinally and angularly offset brushes which is mounted on ball bearings, and with an insert of non-changeable screen cloths, with different mesh gauges.
These features will be described in detail below with reference to the appended drawing which shows by way of example one embodiment of the invention and in which:
Fig. 1 is a view of the flour sifter-cleaner, in longitudinal section along the line I-I of FIG. 2, FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line II-II of FIG. 1, and
Figs. 3 and 4 show, on a larger scale, the automatic dispenser in two different positions.
1 designates the frame of the apparatus which supports the sieve box 2 surmounted, at one end, by a feed hopper 3 and provided, at its lower part, with two receiving chutes 4, 5 for the cleaned flour as well as a weir 6 for bran and impurities.
In the body 2 is mounted a semi-cylindrical screen 7 inside which rotates a slatted drum 8 whose shaft 9 with control pulley 10 is supported by two ball bearings 11, 12 on the frame 1. r. @
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The constricted lower part of the feed hopper 3 contains the automatic flour distributor, constituted by an oscillating block 13 of parallelepiped shape, arranged along the length of the hopper and movable around its longitudinal axis 14. A leaf spring 15 fixed to the wall of the hopper and applied to the adjacent side face of the block 13, maintains the latter vertically in the rest position. Two pins 16 planted in the underside of the block are jagged in the path of the arms 17 of the drum 8.
In operation, the arms 17 of the drum rotated by a suitable motor, strike the pins 16 of the oscillating unit 13 as they pass. The latter tilts obliquely with each stroke (Fig.4) and resumes its vertical position between the blows, under the action of the spring 15.
With each oscillation, the block 13 stirs the flour filling up the hopper '5 and causes a certain quantity to be fed onto the sieve 7, the flour flowing between the block and the wall of the hopper only when, in the inclined position. , the side face of the block is placed parallel to the wall of the thirty (Fig. 4). The flow stops in the vertical position of the block (Fig. 3), the side face of which then forms an acute angle with the wall of the hopper. in which the flour accumulates without falling, due to the settling it undergoes.
As the quantity of flour distributed at each oscillation of the block is almost constant, it follows that the feeding of the sieve is a function of the number of oscillations per unit of time, therefore proportional to the speed of rotation of the drum. 8.
On the sieve 7, the flour is subjected to the action of the brushes of the drum 8 or stir it by making it advance along the sieve. The filling consists of three brushes 18, 19, 20 mounted on the arms 17 and offset both in the longitudinal direction and angularly, so that the flour successively undergoes the action of each of them in its progression on the sieve.
Two mesh screens of different sizes are provided, one of which serves the chute 4 and the other the chute 5, which thus receive an equivalent percentage of sieved flour. These cloths are removable and replaceable.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment and to the details of execution which have been described and shown, @ by way of example, and one would not depart from its scope by making equivalent modifications thereto. .
