Dispositif de raccordement pour tuyaux.
--------------------------------------

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Connection device for pipes.
--------------------------------------
The present invention relates to a connecting device for pipes made of zinc, lead, tin, aluminum, cast iron, copper, iron and the like, used mainly for the ducting of water, gas, fuel oil, gasoline, air and the like. all other fluids.
In general, the pipes were assembled by lamp welding, torch welding, or by assembly using appropriate accessories. This method of assembly was necessary owing to the fact that no removable connector could give serious guarantees of tightness, and it was therefore required, in order to avoid leaks, to form the entire installation. a homogeneous whole.
Also, when a repair had to be made, it was necessary to destroy a large part of the installation, while in the case of an assembly with a removable connection, the damaged part can be replaced quickly and without great expense.
The object of the present invention is to obviate these multiple drawbacks while ensuring rapid shaping and assembly, and this without requiring either welding or matting.
In the accompanying drawing are shown by way of example several embodiments of the present invention.

Fig. 2 is a sectional view of a pipe with a pointed end.
Fig. 3 shows in section the end of a pipe with a collar.
Fig. 4 shows a section of a pipe with a ferrule inserted in said pipe.
Fig. 5 shows a sectional pipe with a flange formed by a hernia.
Fig. 6 is a sectional view of the end of a pipe according to the present invention.
Fig. 7 gives the connection of a pipe with an elbow, in section.
Fig. 8 shows the connection of two pipes in section.
Fig. 9 is a sectional view in the connection of two pipes.
Fig. 10 shows in section the connection of a pipe of small diameter.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the assembly of the various pipes of a pipe requires that the ends to be assembled are first pushed back.
As shown in fig. 1, the pipe 1 has its end 2 pushed back so as to give it a double pipe thickness, this mainly in order to prevent premature wear by friction of the connection.
As soon as this operation is completed, the guide of a mandrel is introduced into the pipe in order to produce an enlargement of the pipe towards this end 2; this widening is pushed until the internal diameter of the end 2 is obtained as the external diameter of the pipe, as is shown in FIG. 2.
Having thus widened the end of the pipe, a
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
upright collar 3 with the same mandrel as that which served to widen the end, for example.
As shown in fig. 4, in the flared end 2 is introduced a ferrule 4 which protrudes slightly towards the outside of the collar 3, so as to form an annular void produced by the collar and the extension of the tube which the said tube constitutes. ferrule, this void providing a housing for a seal.
In fig. 5, the flange 5 and the extension of the tube have been produced by forming a hernia 5. towards the end of the pipe which is then forced back on itself.
If, for a given reason, it is not possible to push back the end of the pipe or even to increase the internal diameter of the pipe, it is advantageously possible to form a collar at the end of the pipe 1 (fig. 6). 31 which will carry by welding a small piece of pipe 11 of the same diameter and also provided with a collar 32.
According to fig. 4, 5 and 6, the pipe carrying at its end a collar, as well as an elongation intended to form with said collar a housing for the seal are completely smooth inside, which allows passage without depression. fluid and without protrusion which may cause disturbances in the flow of the fluid.
When the pipe 1 must be mounted on an elbow 6 (fig. 7) the latter has a base 7 with a diameter corresponding to the external diameter of the pipe, while the internal diameter of the fitting will be the same as the internal diameter of the pipe. the ferrule 4. After placing a seal 8 on the overflow of the ferrule 4, the fixing can be ensured by a nut 9 screwed on the connector 6 which has an annular projection 10 intended to be placed on the collar 3.
The union of two pipes is made according to fig. 8 using a single ferrule 4 which is inserted into the said
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
pipes, after having placed a gasket 8 between the flanges, the flanges being tightened by a connector consisting of two nuts 9-91 screwed into one another.
It goes without saying that the tightening of the flanges one on the other can be effected by means of a ring 11 in certain cases as shown in FIG. 9.
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 10, it is not necessary to provide clamping nuts for all pipe diameters, the increase in the diameter of the collar 3 can be achieved by means of washers 12-121.
One of the main advantages of the present invention is that it does away with the hard work of tapping. In addition, any gas, water, central heating or other installation can be made with commercially available materials, while allowing said installation to be dismantled or modified without having to cut or saw the pipes.
It will be understood that an installation mounted with fittings, forming the object of the present invention, is of a much lower price than that established by old methods.
The invention has been described and illustrated purely as an indication and in no way limiting, and it goes without saying that numerous modifications can be made to its details, without departing from its spirit.
