? proaêâd e préparation de produits de condensation in- #solubles. "

? proaêâd e preparation of insoluble condensation products. "
It has already been proposed to convert urea and thiocarbamide by condensation with. formaldehyde in artificial (synthetic) hardenable materials, which can be used as substitutes for horn, amber and analogous natural products * However, it has been observed that mixtures of area and phenyl thiocarbamide allow themselves to condense with a very advantageous manner in plastics of the above-mentioned species, having excellent mechanical characteristics. This result is in this sense surprising, that, as appears from the technical literature,
the phenyl thiocarbamide, used alone, provides on condensation products which, even after prolonged treatment, remain sticky or sticky and
T are therefore unusable for serving as substitutes for the aforementioned natural products.
The use of thiooarbamide further offers this a-

vantage, that this compound can be obtained by simple condensation of ammonium rhodanate with aniline. In this way it is created for ammonium rhodanate obtained in large quantities during the distillation of coal and which can only be found with difficulty. a use, a new, field of application.
The use of phenyl thiocarbamide further provides this other advantage, that the water solubility of the condensate obtained is greatly reduced, probably due to the introduction of the phenyl group.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the following description of an embodiment of the new process.
A solution of 152 parts of phenyl thiocarbamide and 120 parts of urea in 480 parts of formaldehyde (41% solution) is diluted with 18 parts of hexamethylene tetramine and heated to about 80-95 for 10 to 30 minutes.
The water is then evaporated in vacuo, leaving a syrupy, sticky liquid which, when heated further, hardens.
.When heated, about 6-8 hours to about 80 hours, a resin is obtained, which can easily be reduced to powder after cooling; the hardenable press powder obtained in this way can then be processed without the slightest bit. difficulty in conventional hot pressing devices.
