" PERFECTIONNEMENTS AUX PISTOLETS-MITRAILLEURS ET NOUVEAU PISTOLET-
<EMI ID=1.1>

<EMI ID=15.1>
- Le bec 71a du chien rencontre la butée 80 et frappe le percuteur 69 ' qui percute la cartouche introduite dans le tonnerre;
"IMPROVEMENTS IN SPINGUNS AND NEW GUN-
<EMI ID = 1.1>
The present invention relates to light automatic weapons allowing burst firing and such as submachine guns. Its object is to improve weapons of this kind with a view in particular to lightening and simplifying their construction, facilitating disassembly and maintenance, and improving their efficiency.
These improvements are mainly characterized by the following points which can be applied separately or in any combination:
a) The carcass of the weapon consists of a sheet metal breech box shaped and arranged to contain the barrel and the movable breech and to removably receive all the other parts of the weapon. b) The breech box open at its lower rear part receives a removable assembly which comprises in particular the trigger, the trigger, a breech stop lever ,. and the magazine housing and the magazine catch. c) The open rear part of the breech receives a stock-holder block in which is disposed a cadence moderator of the type with an elastically biased oscillating weight.
d) The barrel, which is locked to the breech in the manner known on automatic pistols, is anchored, by rods, on the removable assembly defined in (b), the pivot axis of said rods being constituted by a pin which secures said assembly on the breech box, another pin ensuring the simultaneous connection, on this same breech box, of the removable assembly and of the butt-holder block. e) The recovery spring is placed above the barrel; it can thus be given dimensions allowing it to work at a reduced fatigue rate, while retaining a reduced length for the breech box. f) The cadence moderator is combined with three levers oi angularly integral fingers which act:
the first, to impart to the moderator an angular pulse under the impact of the bolt, the second as a bolt stop and the third to connect the assembly to the moderator acting as a cam, in order to determine the instant of release of the bolt.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example only, an embodiment of a submachine gun to which all the improvements defined above are applied simultaneously. This gun furthermore comprises various advantageous characteristics mentioned during the description which follows.
Figure 1 shows the gun in partial elevation, with axial section. Figure 2 is a view similar to Figure 1, but with partial axial section and without loader. Figure 3 is an elevation, 'in partial exterior view of the weapon:
Figure 4 is a cross section through line II of Figure 2. Figure 5 is a cross section through line II-II 'of Figure 2. Figure 6 is an elevation, in partial vertical section, of the door unit -crosse, the removable flange being removed. Figure 7 is a corresponding front end view. Figure 8 is a cross section taken on the line III-III of Figure 6. Figure 9 is an exterior elevation of the removable flange of the handle block. Figure 10 is a corresponding rear end view. Figure 11 is an end view from the front.
Figure 12 is a section taken along the line IV-IV of Figure 9. Figure 13 is an elevation, seen from the inside, of the removable flange.
The submachine gun comprises, according to the invention, a light frame constituted by a sheet metal box 1 shaped and cut to present an opening 2 at its lower rear part and receive the removable assembly 3, The open rear part receives a butt-holder block 4. This carcass constitutes a breech box and, at its front part, it is closed by a piece 5 added by welding, or otherwise, and perforated for the passage of the end of the barrel 6 which it guides and maintains line of fire. A handlebar 7 is fixed in any suitable manner on the upper face of the part 6. '
The cylinder head 8 is guided rectilinely in the cylinder head box 1 and on slides or supports 9 of the assembly 3. It is returned to its extreme anterior position by the recovery spring 10 which, according to the invention, is placed above of the barrel, to the upper part of the breech, which allows to give it, in principle,
<EMI ID = 2.1>
establish, without constraint, with mechanical characteristics allowing it to work at a reduced fatigue rate.
The spring 10 is, in the known manner, permanently mounted and loaded on a rod 11 between a fixed base
<EMI ID = 3.1>
rod when the cylinder head moves back. The washer 14, when the cylinder head 8 is in its front position, or when the rod
11 is extracted from the weapon with the spring 10, butts against the base of an attached tip 15. At the opposite end,
another tip 16 engages in a conical cavity of the handle block 4 to center the spring assembly 10 rod 11
The spring 10, by returning the cylinder head forward, the

nons and grooves 17, the barrel being anchored to the frame by means of a rod 18 pivoted on an axis 19 which also has the function of fixing the anterior part of the assembly.
<EMI ID = 5.1>
Overall 3 is provided the passage of the charger
20 which is locked by a rocker 21 pivoted at 22
and returned by a spring 23. This lock acts by engaging its upper beak in an opening 24 of the charger housing. It suffices to push back the lower beak of the rocker 21 to release the charger.
The trigger 25 is pivoted at 26 on the assembly 3 and returned by a spring 27 interposed between its heel
28 and a breech stop lever 29 pivoted at 30. When the trigger is pressed, it acts on the trigger 31 to lift the front end of the lever 29 and erase the end 32 of this member.
The stock-holder block 4 engages in the rear opening of the breech box 1 and its tenon 33 (figure
7) enters a corresponding notch of the assembly
3, a single pin 34 fixing both, on the cylinder head box 1, the rear part of the assembly 3 and

a handle 37, which is grasped by the hand, one of the fingers of which acts on the trigger 25. This handle optionally makes it possible to hold and use the weapon in the manner of a pistol. A butt 38, which can be fixed in a removable manner to the rear part of the block 4, allows the weapon to be supported. In the embodiment shown, the butt 38 is provided with a front fitting 3.9 held by a threaded rod
40 and which fits, by its tenon 41, in the slides
42 of block 3 (figures. 1 and 6) on which it is locked by engaging a spout 43 in an enco- <EMI ID = 8.1>
fixed in 45 and which is deformed by pressing a button
46 when you want to release the spout 43 from the notch 44.
Block 4 is hollowed out to contain a cadence moderator

The operation of the weapon is as follows:
A supplied magazine having been introduced into the weapon, the breech 8 is brought to the cocking by pulling on a button 73 (figure 5) whose rod slides in a groove 74 of the breech box 1. This button is freely engaged. in a perforation of the cylinder head when the latter is introduced into the box 1 separated from the block 4. The button 73 can be pushed to. bottom when it is placed in line with a buttonhole 76 (FIG. 1) ending the groove 74. In any other position, it is retained on the cylinder head by resting its base 77 against the cylinder head box 1.
In the movement of the breech to its position 'of-cocked, the hammer 71 passes freely between the slats 32
lever 29 and in the axial groove of the nozzle 62. The notches 78 of the cylinder head 8 pass through the nozzles 32
<EMI ID = 15.1>
73. The nozzle 62 is, at this moment, erased out of the notches
78 because the roller 49 is supported at the point of the profile
60 closest to the axis of the moderator.
When the trigger is pressed, the trigger 31 lifts the front end of the lever 29 and clears the jaws
32; the cylinder head. is released and recalled to. the front by the recuperator spring.
In his race forward:
- She extracts, by. its face 79, the cartridge above the magazine and introduces it into the thunder.
- It locks onto the barrel.
- The nozzle 71a of the hammer meets the stop 80 and strikes the striker 69 'which strikes the cartridge introduced into the thunder;
