<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

MITRAILLETTES IMPROVEMENTS.
The present invention relates to a submachine gun consisting in particular of a tube in which is housed a movable breech whose recoil takes place against the effect of a coil spring which is retained by a screw-mounted cap. at one end of said tube and which recalls, following authorization of a cocking and trigger mechanism9 said breech against a chamber formed at the other end of the tube considered by the end of a barrel, which, having an external groove included between two shoulders ,, is introduced with hard friction into this tube and is held there by a screw connection, a handle being adapted to the tube in question while, adjacent to the aforementioned chamber, a housing for loader is mounted on the same tube.
The object of the invention is to provide a light submachine gun which is easy to assemble and disassemble as well as easy to handle and perfectly safe.
For this purpose, in the submachine gun according to the invention, the annular space formed by the aforementioned groove and included between the aforementioned tube and the wall of the aforementioned chamber has air circulation, while the cocking and trigger mechanism previously indicated is organized in the already mentioned poi = - gnée which, stapled to the tube defined above, is preferably made of a light material, hard and poor conductor of heat, such as the substance called "celeron" while means are provided to weaken the recoil due to the pulling
In an advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention,
the rear end of the aforementioned yoke has a cup in which the aforesaid coil spring is engaged and surrounds a pin which is made of a light and hard material such as the substance called "celeron" and which is driven into this yoke along the axis of said cup, the edge of which it protrudes, this pin coming, during the retraction of the above-mentioned cylinder head, to strike a corresponding projection of a buffer made of elastic material such as rubber, which, fitted into the tube already mentioned, is app-

qué against the aforementioned plug by the coil spring in question, which surrounds the projection in question, said buffer being pierced with an axial hole which facilitates its deformations.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the subject of the invention,
the aforementioned triggering and triggering mechanism is arranged in a hollow of the aforesaid handle and comprises in particular a trigger which, mounted to pivot about an axis, is pushed against a stop by a gripping spring in addition. at the bottom of the aforementioned hollow and is retained by a heel terminating a wedging bar articulated to a safety lever, this trigger having ,, on the one hand, a ramp projection or stopper which emerges from the aforementioned handle to penetrate by a fe - be in the previously named tube and keep the breech in question armed while, on the other hand, the same trigger carries a nozzle on which a trigger controlled by a pusher is likely to act against the effect of the spring already mentioned provided that said trigger is made free by the heel in question.
In addition, the aforementioned trigger is mounted to swing around an axis and is provided at one end with two lugs coming one after the other into contact with the aforementioned beak, the first of these lugs being erasable. , while the other end of said trigger which is curved, is applied by a spring against the aforementioned pusher housed in the handle in question.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of a submachine gun, given below by way of nonlimiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 is a view of the submachine gun according to invention. o
FIG. 2 is a section taken along the median plane of the submachine gun shown in FIG. 1.
Figure 3 is a section along the line III-III indicated in Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a section along the line IV-IV indicated in figure 20
Figure 5 shows the details of the trigger and trigger mechanism.
In the various figures, the same reference notations denote elements which are identical or fulfill identical functions.
The submachine gun comprises in particular a tube 1 in which a movable breech 2 is housed. The tube 1 is extended by a barrel 5, fitted to this tube. The movable yoke 2 is retracted in the tube 1 forming the breech box, against the effect of a coil spring 3. The spring 3 is retained in the tube 1 by a plug 4 . mounted to screw at one end of said tube. It recalls, according to authorization of a cocking and trigger mechanism, the breech 2 against a chamber 12 located at the other end of the tube 1. This chamber 12 is formed via the end of the barrel 5, fitted into the tube 1. This end has an external groove 6 between two shoulders 7 and 8 and is introduced with hard friction into the tube 1 to which it is attached by a screw connection 9.
A handle 10 is arranged while a magazine housing 11 is mounted on the tube 1. The barrel 5 is terminated by a muzzle brake 55. A sight 56 placed at the front of the barrel 5 and an eyelet 57 attached to the barrel. rear of tube 1 materialize the line of sight. The barrel body 5 is surrounded on the outside by parallel projections 58 constituting the cooling system. The annular space 13 formed by the groove 6 and comprised between the tube 1 and the wall of the chamber 12 has air circulation.
For this purpose, the corresponding part of the wall of the tube 1 is pierced with two vents 14 and 15 which are placed, preferably, in opposition along the diametral plane of the tube considered. These arrangements complete the cooling system formed by the projections 58 and extend it to bedroom 12.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
For its part, the mechanism of cocking and trigger of the submachine gun is organized in the handle 10 which is stapled to the tube 1. The handle 10 is made, preferably, of light material, hard and poor conductor of heat. ; this material is, for example, the substance called "celeron".
In addition, yen are planned to weaken the recoil due to the fire of the weapon. In an advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention, the rear end of the cylinder head 2 has a cup 16 in which the coil spring 3 is engaged. It surrounds there an ankle 17 driven into the cylinder head 2, along the axis of the cup 16 of which it exceeds the edge 18. This ankle 17, which is advantageously in "celeron", comes, when the cylinder head 2 recedes. , strike a corresponding projection 19 of a buffer 20 fitted into the tube 1 and applied against the stopper 4 by the spring 3 which surrounds the projection 19. The buffer 20 is made of elastic material such as rubber and is pierced with a hole axial 21 which facilitates its deformations.
The recoil of the weapon is thus weakened by the spring 3 and the buffer 20 which absorb most of the live force. The recoil is further attenuated due to 1-'existence of a lumen 22 formed in the tube 1 near the chamber 12. The lumen 22 is released by the cylinder head 2 during the recoil thereof and immediately after its start-up. . In the event of firing, the light 22 allows the escape of the gases accumulated in the chamber 12 and the rear of the barrel 5 at the same time as the ejection of the casings of the cartridges fired by a striker 59. These casings are extracted from the chamber 12 by a spring claw 60, housed in the head of the cylinder head 2.
Coming to abut against a fixed ejector 61 secured to the wall of the tube 1 and engaging in a suitable groove in the breech 2, the cartridges extracted from the chamber 12 are projected out of the weapon by the port 22. When the The weapon is at rest, the aforementioned slot 22 is closed by a spring valve 23 held in the closed position by a button 62 which terminates a leaf 64 forming a spring and attached to the body of the weapon.
The blade 64 is fixed, for example, to the magazine housing 11, being inserted between this housing and an insulating covering 63 of the latter; said coating being preferably in "celeron". The valve 23 has an internal projection 65 which takes place in a corresponding depression of the cylinder head 2 but which is pushed by the latter during its retreat; which causes the valve in question to open. It will be observed that the magazine housing 11 is provided with a locking member 65 of a magazine 67. This member 65 is spring-loaded and carries a pusher 66 which passes through the coating 63, the magazine 67 being released by pressure. on pusher 66.
It should be noted that the pin 17 makes it possible to ballast the cup 2 by placing at the bottom of the bowl 16 washers, for example metal, in which this pin 17 is engaged and which are held in place by the pressure of the spring 3. It is thus possible to make the cylinder head 2 heavier and consequently to reduce the speed of pulling
On the other hand, the handle 10 comprises a body 24 completed by a pot holder 25.
The body 24 is applied against the tube 1 and extends between the plug 4 and the magazine housing 11. 11 is attached, on the one hand ;, by a winged pin 25 which, embedded in said body 24 where it is fixed by a pin 68, is slipped into a longitudinal mortise 27 formed in the wall of the tube 1, at its end closed by the stopper 4, and, on the other hand, by a forked end 28 into which penetrates a spacer 29 which joint two flanges 30 appendice.au magazine housing 11. In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the subject of the invention, the cocking and trigger mechanism is arranged in a hollow of the handle 10.
It comprises in particular a trigger 31 mounted to pivot about an axis
32. The trigger 31 is pushed against a stop 33 by a coil spring 34 bearing, moreover, against the bottom of the hollow of the handle 10 in an ad hoc cavity. On the other hand, it is retained by a heel 35 terminating a wedging bar 36 articulated to a safety lever 37. This trigger
31 has, in addition, a ramp projection or stopper 38 which emerges from the handle 10 to enter through a window 39 in the tube 1 and keep at
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
armed the breech 2 while it carries a beak 40 on which a trigger 41, controlled by a pusher 42, is capable of acting against the effect of the spring 34 provided that said trigger 31 is made free by the heel 35.
The trigger 41 is mounted to swing around an axis 43.
It is provided at one end with two lugs 44 and 45 which come 1-'un after the other in contact with the spout 40 of the trigger 31. The first of these lugs 44 is erasing. The other end of the trigger 41 which is curved, is applied against the pusher 42 housed in the handle 10, by a spring 46 mounted in the mitt 26.
The pusher 42 is formed by a rod 47 which penetrates into the hollow of the handle 10 where it is retained by a projection 48, to emerge into an opening 49 made in this handle 10 where it ends in a button 50. A coil spring 70 can be housed in handle 10 to surround rod 47 and serve as a guide and return member for push-button 42. To pull, one of the fingers is pressed on this button 50, preferably the index finger of the hand which holds the pot holder 26. The erasing lug 44 is formed by a pin which, introduced into a socket 54 of the trigger 41, is held there by a stop 52 while it is pushed by a spring 53 placed at the bottom of this cell 54.
As for the safety lever 37,, it is arranged in a notch 38 made on the back of the pot holder 26 to control the movement of the bar 36. For this purpose, it penetrates, against the effect of the spring 46 acting on the trigger 41, in the hollow of the handle 10, which extends to the pot holder 26. The bar 36 is, in the body 24 of the handle 10, supported by the bottom of the aforementioned hollow. 0 it is articulated at one end of the safety lever 37, the other end of which is secured to the mitt 26 by a hinge 69. It will be noted that the spring 46 mounted in the mitt 26 is double-acting. It is advantageously constituted by an elastic blade folded back on itself and secured to the pot holder 26 by a transverse pin 54.
This pin is clamped in the fold of the leaf, the spring 46 thus having two wings which, curved, push in opposite directions, one on the trigger 41 and the other on the safety lever 37.
To cock the submachine gun, the breech 2 is brought back by means of an arming rod 71. This rod 71 is attached to the breech 2 and is arranged parallel to the axis of the tube 1 to flow against the latter. One of its ends is nested in a lateral notch made at the rear of the cylinder head 2 and ends with a pin 72 housed in an ad hoc slot made in said cylinder head, at the end of the notch in question. the end of the rod 71 carries a button 73 whose head emerges laterally from the tube 1 and which is slipped into a longitudinal mortise 74 made in the wall of this tube, from its end closed by the stopper 4.
The handle 10, particularly the potholder 26, as well as the cover 63 of the magazine housing 11 which facilitates the maintenance of the weapon during firing, are advantageously shaped to place the fingers and other parts of the hands therein. .
The submachine gun according to the invention remains blocked as long as pressure is not exerted on the safety lever 37. The use of the weapon requires it to be properly gripped by the grip 26. To bring the cylinder 2 when armed or in order to fire, it is necessary to tighten the grip 26 by pushing the lever 37 to release the trigger 31. It is armed by acting on the button 73 which is brought back. To shoot, the button 50 is pressed with a free finger, more easily with the index finger of the hand grasping the grip 26. The shot-by-shot is executed by pressing the button incompletely until start of the shot, the erasure lug 44 then acting exclusively on the nozzle 40 of the trigger 310 The firing in bursts is carried out by fully pressing the button 50 to bring the lug 45 into play.

telescopic 75. This stick is made of a rod folded into a pin with two branches whose fork is curved and is shaped to support the shoulder. The two branches of the stick 75 come to frame the tube 1, at its joint with the handle 100 Guided, each, by a pair.
ears 76 fixed to the tube 1, these branches are clamped against said ears by an intermediate pin 77 which, arranged in the handle 10, is capable of rotating and of being inserted in the notches 79 of the aforementioned branches to stop the butt 75 in the extended position or in the folded position. The pin 77 has two flats 78 which correspond to each of the branches of the butt 75 and which allow the translation of this stick when they are brought opposite these branches.
The submachine gun according to the invention is of a particularly simple organization. It can be assembled and disassembled without the help of one or the other tool and without the intervention of assembly elements, such as screws, which become detached from the main parts at the risk of being lost. In addition, it is easy to handle and perfectly safe.
The departure of a blow., In particular, imposes pressure on a safety lever, which forces the weapon to be grasped, preventing any accidental release of the trigger o In addition, the living force of the recoil is absorbed by the constituent elements of the 'weapon or is dissipated and does not inconvenience the tireuro
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described above and that many modifications can be made to it without departing from the scope of the present patent application.
One could, in particular, give the barrel of the weapon any desirable caliber.
One could, also, constitute the grip of the weapon, of any material light, hard and, possibly, bad conductor of the heat.
