"Etui pour boites d'allumettes"
Cette invention a pour objet un étui pour boîtes d'allumettes, qui est conçu de manière qu'on puisse s'en ser- vir pour abriter du vent la flamme d'une allumette.
A cet effet, l'étui comporte une partie mobile qui embrasse un côté de la boîte et que l'on peut écarter de celle- ci latéralement pour former autour du frottoir de la boîte une sorte de niche, dans laquelle la flamme de l'allumette enflam- mée sur le frottoir se trouve à l'abri du vent. Afin que la flamme ne soit pas éteinte par des remous d'air, il est préfé- rable que la niche soit ouverte aux deux extrémités; d'autres ouvertures peuvent éventuellement être ménagées dans ses parois pour fournir l'air nécessaire à la combustion de l'allumette.

tie mobile de l'étui est articulée à une partie fixe enserrant la boîte et elle peut pivoter autour d'un axe situé dans un angle de l'étui, de façon à s'écarter de l'angle diagonalement opposé en s'ouvrant pour former une niche en forme de coin en- tre son dos et le frottoir de la boite. Dans ce cas, le dos de la partie mobile est avantageusement bombé pour assurer qu'une ouverture reste libre entre lui et la boite à l'extrémité retrécie de la niche. Le bombage du dos est utile aussi pour offrir une bonne prise aux doigts lorsqu'on veut ouvrir la partie mobile de l'étui.
Sur le dessin annexé, qui montre à titre d'exemple un étui pour boites d'allumettes conforme à l'invention:
Fig. 1 est une vue en perspective de l'étui fermé, contenant une boite d'allumettes, et
Fig. 2 est une vue analogue de l'étui ouvert.
1 désigne la partie fixe de l'étui, formant une pince qui entoure sur trois côtés la boite d'allumettes 2 et ne laisse libre qu'un de ses frottoirs 3. A cette partie fixe 1 est articuléepar un rivet 4 formant pivot, la partie mobile 5 qui est semblable à la partie 1 mais dont le dos 6 est bou- bé.
Quand l'étui est fermé (Fig.l) le dos 6 recouvre le frottoir 3. Pour allumer une allumette sur le frottoir, il faut ouvrir la partie mobile 5 en l'écartant du frottoir par pivotement autour du pivot 4 (Fig.2). Dans cette position, la partie 5 forme autour du frottoir une niche 7 dans laquelle on peut allumer l'allumette en plein vent sans que la flamme soit immédiatement soufflée. Grâce au bombage du dos 6, il subsiste au fond de la niche 7 une ouverture assez large pour que l'air puisse pénétrer dans l'espace abrité aussi bien par le fond que par l'entrée de la niche. provoqueraient l'extinction de la flamme sont ainsi annulés.
Bien.,entendu, l'invention n'est pas limitée à cet exemple d'exécution et des modifications peuvent y être appor- tées sans sortir de son cadre.

This invention relates to a case for matchboxes, which is so designed that it can be used to shelter the flame of a match from the wind.
For this purpose, the case comprises a movable part which embraces one side of the box and which can be moved away from the latter laterally to form around the rubbing of the box a kind of niche, in which the flame of the A lit match on the rubble is sheltered from the wind. So that the flame is not extinguished by eddies of air, it is preferable that the niche is open at both ends; other openings can optionally be made in its walls to supply the air necessary for the combustion of the match.

movable tie of the case is articulated to a fixed part enclosing the box and it can pivot about an axis located in an angle of the case, so as to deviate from the diagonally opposite angle by opening to form a wedge-shaped niche between its back and the rubbing of the box. In this case, the back of the movable part is advantageously curved to ensure that an opening remains free between it and the box at the narrowed end of the niche. The doming of the back is also useful to give a good grip to the fingers when you want to open the mobile part of the case.
In the accompanying drawing, which shows by way of example a case for boxes of matches according to the invention:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the closed case, containing a box of matches, and
Fig. 2 is a similar view of the open case.
1 designates the fixed part of the case, forming a clamp which surrounds on three sides the matchbox 2 and leaves free only one of its rubbers 3. At this fixed part 1 is articulated by a rivet 4 forming a pivot, the mobile part 5 which is similar to part 1 but the back 6 of which is curved.
When the case is closed (Fig.l) the back 6 covers the friction pad 3. To light a match on the friction pad, the movable part 5 must be opened by moving it away from the friction pad by pivoting around the pivot 4 (Fig.2 ). In this position, the part 5 forms a niche 7 around the rubber in which the match can be lit in the open air without the flame being immediately blown out. Thanks to the bending of the back 6, there remains at the bottom of the niche 7 an opening large enough so that the air can enter the space sheltered both by the bottom and by the entrance to the niche. The eddies of air that

would cause the flame to go out are thus canceled.
Of course, the invention is not limited to this exemplary embodiment and modifications can be made to it without departing from its scope.
