<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Manufacturing process for shoes with rubber soles.
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing shoes and more especially leather shoes with rubber soles, as well as the shoes made using this method.
As is well known, in the manufacture of shoes of leather or other material, with rubber soles, serious difficulties are encountered in ensuring a durable assembly of the rubber sole and the upper of the shoe.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Generally the upper mounted on a first sole is assembled with the latter and with the rubber sole by stitching and gluing,
The object of the current invention is to eliminate these operations and to obtain a shoe made of leather or other material with a seamless rubber sole, of perfect water-tightness and of great strength. For this purpose, the method, object of the invention consists essentially in fixing the upper of the shoe,
between a rubber insole and an unvulcanized rubber sole, by simply compressing the two rubber soles against each other and subsequently vulcanizing the rubber sole, the upper being provided with a .
this effect, on these edges folded over the first sole, one or more rows of perforations allowing, during the compression of the sole against the first, the repression of the rubber in the perforations formed in the rim of the upper, so that the first sole and -the sole proper- forming body by the rubber forced into these perforations of the upper maintain between them, in a certain way, the upper by a multiplicity of points of attached.
The shoe thus obtained is consequently without cou -ture and the rubber sole maintains the upper without the aid of any auxiliary means.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention
Figure I gives a longitudinal sectional view of a shoe upper mounted on a last and on a first sole *
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Figure 2 gives me a cross section of this shoe taken by line II-II in figure I and shows the assembly of the first sole and the rubber shell, after compression in a mold @
FIG. 3 is a view from below of the upper mounted on the last, before the application of the rubber sole, and shows the perforations made in the folded-down edge of the upper, with a view to fixing the sole. and the assembly thereof with the rod.
In these figures. designates a form of ordinary construction on which is mounted the leather upper, for example of the shoe to be manufactured * This thread is, as usual, folded over the underside 3 of the form 1 so as to form a rim - applying around the periphery of the form against a first rubber sole 5, temporarily held in place on the form by any suitable known means, for example by one or two spikes 6.
According to the invention, the rim of the rod? is provided along its periphery located in the form 1, with one or more rows of perforations 7 Under these conditions, when the rod is mounted on the form 1, the latter can be housed in a mold (not shown) in which a rubber sole is previously placed, @ The mold is established so as to allow the sole $ to be pressed against the form.1. Under the effect of this pressure the rubber, unvulcanized, of the sole 8 as well as the rubber constituting the first .1 being pressed against each other, one,
a certain amount of rubber is forced back into the perforations 7 of

such that the two soles and 8 are welded to one another (FIG. 2) This weld is made final by the vulcanization of the soles carried out in the ordinary way.
The shoe produced in this way has all the qualities of a seamless one-piece shoe, the upper being assembled with the soles in a secure manner without seams and by the welding of the two melds with each other. without accessory gluing operation.
