<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Colander-press for vegetables or others.
The present invention relates to a sieve characterized by the use of a helix combined with a horizontal pressure roller and a lateral pressure spiral.
The accompanying drawings show schematically by way of non-limiting examples one form of construction of the apparatus.
Figure I is a sectional view of the fully assembled strainer.
Figure 2 is the view of one of the interchangeable pots which can be mounted on the device.
Figure 3 is the bottom view of a propeller.
Figure 4 is the view of the inner cross member and Figure 5 is the front view of a propeller.
So far there have been various forms of strainers provided with a mechanical pressure or scraping device.
However, when systems have been used for pushing the vegetables or products to pass towards the bottom of a container, (the bottom being pierced with holes of suitable diameter), the scraping and rubbing part wears out very quickly and at the same time. time was removing the protective layer of tin placed on the bottom.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This therefore had its unprotected metal, oxidized quickly and was put out of use.
In other devices, the products to be passed tended to fall out of the center and settle at the edges.
It was then necessary to use a scraper, the disadvantages of which have just been pointed out.
The object of the present invention is to make improvements intended to remedy this.
We see in Figure I the strainer which consists of a truncated cone I and an interchangeable container pierced with holes, which we see shown in 2 and in Figure 2.
This container can be cylindrical or conical and mounted with a bayonet or simply placed on a projection 3 of the truncated cone as shown in Figure 2 the lower part of the drawing.
This receptacle is pierced with holes and there may be several receptacles for the same colander depending on the work that one wishes to make it perform. on the truncated cone is placed a cross member 4 of any profile, preferably fixed according to the device provided in Figure I; in this case the truncated cone carries at its upper part a rolled edge shown at 5 and on this rolled edge is fixed on one side a hook 6 carried by the cross member which twists at its other end a folded part 7 followed by a rolled part 8 which carries an axis 9 on which is mounted an elbow lever 10.
This lever when closed comes to press in! 1 on the rolled edge of the truncated cone and completely blocks the crosspiece; its opening and closing movement is possible due to the elasticity of the metal.
This crosspiece carries in its center a hole through which passes a rod 12 forming a crank and serving for the operation of the apparatus.
This rod passes through the entire device and in particular the interchangeable pot 2, a central hole of which guides it from below.
On this rod is placed, from the crosspiece a

thrust spring 13 then a cylindrical bush or any other form 14 which serves to cross-align the thrust of the spring on the propeller hub 15.
The propeller which can be seen, seen from below in FIG. 3 and seen from the front in FIG. 5, engages in the liquid by its edge 16 and preferably this edge is located outside the cylindrical part and placed a slightly above the latter in the frustoconical part, the liquid mixed with solid particles is therefore entrained under the propeller and meets the front edge of a spiral 17.
There the liquid is divided into two parts, one which is pushed towards the outside and towards the side holes of the pot 2, the other which is driven under the propeller and which comes, at the exit of this one. , go under the rollers 18.
These rollers are indeterminate in number on the same axis and force the resistant solid particles to nasser in the bottom holes without any scraping or wear.
The apparatus is completed nar a cross member shown in Figure 4, preferably consisting of? by two sheet folds in which a hole 15 has been left in the middle allowing the free passage and with play of the sleeve 14.
This cross member can be placed so as to be stopped by one or more bosses 16 formed on the truncated cone by driving the metal.
The advantage of this invention is the impossibility of wear, a very high speed of work and cleaning and an almost immediate disassembly since it suffices to lift the hook 10 and turn the apparatus over so that all the parts fall out. .
The reassembly is also extremely easy.
It is however obvious that the crosspiece can be made of another shape without changing the principle of the invention; that the position of the spiral 17, the entry of which is in principle a few centimeters after the edge 16 of the helix and approximately in the middle of the radius, can be changed without modifying the principle of the invention, as can the diameter rollers @

and their method of attachment, the pitch of the propeller and its height are also variable, in a word that the shapes, details, raw materials and arrangements can vary without departing from the scope of the invention.
