vant l'invention, on se référera aux dessins ci-joints où: la fig. 1 est une vue schématique d'un système pour traiter de multiples 'brins de fil; la fig. la est ane vue en plan, partiellement arrachée, d'une partie du mécanisme représenté dans le système saivant la fig. 1;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

"2nd Improvements in Apparatus for Untwisting Twisted Yarn": The present invention relates essentially to a system, mechanism or mechanism available for untwisting to a predetermined extent the strands or the analogies of wet, twisted and glued thread to a predetermined extent.
The invention relates to a yarn untwisting system or device of simple construction and practical operation; it also relates to a system oa disposi- tive of this gere intended to untwist the strands of wet twisted and glued and staged yarn particularly in order to avoid the operating difficulties occasioned by the presence of hamide starch sar le wire, oa by the presence of boarre, dirt oa other foreign bodies agglomerated by or on the wet wire.
The invention resides in the system, the mechanism, the device and the construction features, the nature of which is described below.
In order to highlight one of the forms that the system can take, the mechanism oa the wire untwisting device follows.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Before the invention, reference will be made to the accompanying drawings where: FIG. 1 is a schematic view of a system for processing multiple strands of yarn; fig. 1a is a plan view, partially cut away, of part of the mechanism shown in the system according to FIG. 1;
Fig. 2 is a schematic view for moistening and untwisting strands of yarn sized and twisted beforehand; finally, fig. 2a is a side elevation of a system element shown in figure 2.
Fig. 1 represents the year of the many devices making it possible to obtain, sar separate coils, separate strands of glued and twisted yarn qai, by the saite, are moistened and brought to separate untwisting mechanisms. There is shown in fig, the member 1 on which is wound an aggregate of yarn A consisting of multiple strands B of ordinary yarn, fibreax and twist da gente used to form an interlacing weave, or qae the strands are intertwined. cés the years with the aatres as in the case, for example, of a woven fabric, that is to say that it is about a fabric whose single strand is interlaced with itself as in the case, for example, of d 'a knitted fabric, etc.
Said strands of yarn B can be spun in the usual way from a roving, ribbing, etc., and exhibit the necessary twist to allow handling and sizing.
Next to the yarn aggregate A is arranged a reservoir or container 2 of suitable length containing a product 3 serving as a plaster and starch, such as a solation of ordinary starch qai, usually but not necessarily, is hot in the sense that its temperature is lower than the boiling point but higher than the ordinary temperature of the apartments, the strands of twisted wire B passing from gaache to the right, according to figs 1 and la, aûtoar d ' a guide roller 4; to immerse yourself in the composition serving as endait and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of poison 3 da fact that they must pass aa-dessoas of guide roaleaax 5 and 6.
In the receptacle 2, the twisted and glued wire strands B pass between the ordered coils 7 and 8 arranged near the antrum and serving to remove excess material from the said wire strands B serving as coating and starch and to advance these strands which are unwound from the organ 1, the roller 8 preferably dipping into the composition serving as starter and starch; from there, the strands of twisted and glued yarn B pass aa-dessoas of the gaid rollers 9 and 10, the role of which is to keep the said strands of twisted and glued yarn B in contact with the periphery of a rotating drum If kept at a suitable temperature for drying, the strands of yarn B were now stuck so that it was not stiff and sticky.
After having qaited the drum 11 and the roaleaa 10, each strand of wire twisted and glued B Can be envisioned by a reel 12 (freeze 1) the reels 12 being controlled by a suitable mechanism allowing 1 1 any of them to slipping relative to its driving device, thus ensuring the proper winding of the twisted strands of wire on their respective spools12.
For the purposes of describing the present invention and as shown in FIG. 2, it is assumed that the strands of twisted and glued wire B unwind from the aforementioned spools 12 and, at a suitable distance from each other, pass aa-dessoas from a gaid roll oa from a fixed rod 17, preferably thick glass aa-dessas of a roller 18 formed of any material but, preferably, an unattaqaable metal, this roller 18 plon = giant in ane composition liqaide 19 contained in ane aage oa container 20s. Usually, the aforementioned liqaide 19 is ordinary water which, in the case of roaleaa 18, serves to moisten the strands of twisted and glued wire B.
Da roaleaa 18, the hamected strands of twisted and glued thread B pass through the gaidage eyes 19a between the very close roaleaaxes 20 and 21 aatoar de chaean in which they twist up to a certain point, the roaleaa 20

be placed in the receptacle 20 and, instead of the rollers 20 and 21, any other device for advancing da strand of wire can be used.
The strands of hamected, twisted and glued B yarn are now in the desired state to undergo the untwisting action, but, before

to arrive aa. Aérotordeur mechanism proper, each strand of hamected, twisted and glued wire B is brought into contact, according to a very important feature of the invention, preferably with a peripheral groove 22 formed in a roller 23 rotating freely in bearings not shown and trained, usually in some suitable manner, for example with the aid of a

having a rectilinear end section lined with an easily removable fabric sleeve 27 which, in the vicinity of its excess, is received in the adjacent groove 22 of the roller 23, this sleeve 27 having a shape such as qaT iI. can easily penetrate into said groove 22. Each de-ironing member 26 is urged in any way in the anti-clockwise direction, considering FIG. 2.
To this end, each device 26 may include a weighted end 26a playing the râla qai just indicated.

To this end, if desired and as he is indignant in fig. 2, we have to. at it is a mechanism notoriously used in the technique for imparting a certain twist atz ftl., this mechanism being however actuated in the suitable direction so that the twist of the strand of hamected, twisted and glued wire B which it is fed is destroyed in ane certain mesare wanted. Accordingly, the untwisting mechanism assigned to each strand of wire B may include a vertical pin 28 suitably mounted in members 29 and 30,
said spindle 28 being driven by a rotational movement of suitable speed aa by means, for example, a belt or cord 31 cooperating with a pin 32 pinned oa fixed by other

suitably on said spindle & 8. The spindle 28 is preferably conical at its upper end in order to receive a removable coil 33 by which the strand of untwisted wire / 1 is emptied which, from roaleaa 23, passes soas a slider 34 in.
EMI5.3
move erbaite towards said coil 33 to which we have previously fixed the line of the ends of the strand that it is a question of untwisting. As usual, the slider 34 is freely mounted without the ring 35 carried by a bagaes bar 36 to which is connected a rod 37 driven by any means of a vertical reciprocating movement.
EMI5.4
Far further, each reel oa analogae 33 is made with a strand of untwisted thread obtained, - in each case, from a strand of thread previously moistened, twisted and glued B, the starch agglutinating the fibers of material to give the wire the necessary strength. The untwisting effect occurs mainly between the roaleaa 23 and the carsear 34 and this action can be given a pronounced aass character as desired oa
EMI5.5
whether it is suitable country is governed by the speed of movement of the wire, determined by the axes 20 and 21, and by
EMI5.6
the speed of rotation of the spindle 28, factors which can be varied arbitrarily. Usually, we don't rhyme
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
entirely the twist of the strand of wet, twisted and glued thread.
Thus qae this last wire can be twisted 7 times on itself per centmeter, number qai can be reduced to 2 following the untwisting operation. However, it is expressly understood that the degree of this backwashing action may be different, depending on the needs. As has been said, the untwisting effect occurs between the roller 23 and the frame 34, and this is substantially true when the roller 23 turns in the direction of the movement of the wire. However, when the roller 23 rolls in the opposite direction of its movement, a slight untwisting took place between the rollers 21 and 23.
As has been said, the roller 23 and the related mechanism form an important part of the invention. This roaleaa 23 is preferably provided with a peripheral groove 22 for each of the strands of dampened, twisted and glued wire B and it is necessary that, where the contact with the strand B in question occurred, the corresponding rainare 22 is troave aa -dessas and in the axis of the spindle 28 qai controls the movement of said strand of wire B in order to thus center the gyration of cedernier. It is usually advantageous that the roller 23 is located as close as possible to the upper end of the spindle 28.
However, in the case of the construction shown, it is necessary to provide sufficient space to allow the installation of the coil 33 sar the spindle 28 as well as its removal. Likewise, the roller 23 is placed relatively to the detour deur mechanism and aa roaleaa 21 so that the dampened, twisted strand of yarn has glued 13 demeare to the bottom of its groove 22 as it moves therein, whatever the position of cursor 34; in other words, when the cursor 34 has come to be placed completely to the right considering the freeze 2, the inclination of the part of the wire undergoing the untwisting is such that there is necessarily contact with the ra inare 22.
As said, no sensitive untwisting action

Indeed, s aivant the embodiment of the invention described here, it is important qae the starch conveyed by the strand of wet and sticky thread during the untwisting operation. when the strand of wire hamected, twisted and glued passes through a groove 22 of the roller 23, the dirt, fluff and other foreign matter entrained by said strand of wire are for the most part eliminated and are deposited, at a glance, sar liorgane unclassear 26 and in particular on the sleeve 27 which it is handled and which can be periodically removed and cleaned.
By virtue of this arrangement, the surface delimiting any groove 22, surface with which the strand of wet yarn twisted and sized between precisely in contact, is constantly kept clean and free from any sensitive deposit of sizing composition or of foreign bodies such as qae boarres and messes. Such an arrangement is advantageous and even essential because, without it, the passage constituted here by the rainare 22 could be blocked by the bounds, the dirt, the poison, etc., a circumstance which would ordinarily oblige to suspend the untwisting operation.
Although, as described and shown here, the embodiment of the invention comprises a single roller 22 mani plasiears grooves 23 each cooperating with the one of the strands of wet, twisted and glued wire B, it should be understood that this arrangement can be arbitrarily modified.
It is thus, for example, that one can provide multiple roaleaax 22 each having as many grooves as desired, each of them cooperating with a strand of dampened, twisted and glued wire; Otherwise said, we can give each roll 22 ane lon- gaear any saffisante so that we can lodge there an desired number of strands of wire hamected twisted and glued Bo

As stated above, it has been specified that the twisted and glued yarn strands B feeding the hamectear roll 18 unwind spools 12 on each of which is wound a single strand of twisted and glued yarn B.
He must be heard. Toatefois, that the invention is in no way limited to such a device ensuring the arrival of the strands of twisted and glued yarn aa moistening device. Thus, on each coil 12, can be wound several strands of twisted and glued wire. With the line of coils, we can use cans, cones, cheeses, etc., on which can be wrapped, at will, an or. several strands of twisted and glued thread B.
In addition, at the liea of the organs qai have just been indiqaés, one or more beams are used to feed twisted and glued strands of wire to the roaleaa hamectear or the like 18, several strands of twisted and glued wire B being coiled sar each of these ensoaples.
As has been said previously in connection with FIG. 1, it has been specified that multiple strands of twisted and glued B yarn wrapped on a member 1 must pass through a coating composition, pay co-operate with a drying tamboar, then wrap around the coils 12 respectively.
It should be expressly understood that the present invention is not limited to this. This is so, for example, that with the arrangement according to FIG. 1, Several of the twisted and glued strands of wire B can be emptied by each of the spools 12. Also the spools 12 of FIG. 1 Can be replaced by cans, cones, cheeses, etc. oa beams, each of these cans, cones, cheeses, etc. .. receiving at will one or more strands of twisted yarn and glued B oa plu - Siears of these strands of wire being, if necessary, wound on a beam. when using coils 12 according to FIG. 1 oa when they are replaced by cans, cones, cheeses, etc.

and glued B can be brought to them diane mariera any qae aatre qae that qai is represented., It is thus qae organ 1, qai is nothing but a beam, can be replaced by cans, cheese cones, etc.,. on the peavent, at will, to be wound an oa plasiears strands of twisted thread.
Moreover, after having passed the drying drum oa analogae 11, the strands of twisted and glued fjl B can be envidated, if desired, on compartmentalized beams and, of these beams, year or more of these threads can be envided. sar cans, cones, cheeses, etc. .. which is then mounted in the untwisting loom in the manner schematically shown in FIG. 2.
It should be expressly understood that the present invention is not limited to the arrangement described and shown herein.
Thus, in certain cases, the drying drum 11 of FIG. 1 peat be removed, the strands of twisted and glued thread B, loaded with the starch which they have picked in the analogous container 2, passing to the still hamid and sticky state, without being dried and moistened, in the rainares cor - responders 22 of the roll 23 to go to the corresponding untangling mechanisms.
In addition, when such a dryer drum oa analoge 11 is used, the wetting operation can be carried out otherwise than indicated in FIG. 2.This is so, for example, that while they are on their spools, oa analggaes 12 respectively previously described, or otherwise, the twisted and glued yarn strands B, can, if necessary, be washed. , sprayed or moistened with other suitable manner.
: Although the invention has been described in connection with certain preferred particular examples giving satisfactory results, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art, having understood the invention, that it is susceptible to numerous changes and modifications without modifying it. n @ mind going out of its domain.
