<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Boiler at. central heated hot water or. hot water distribution
The present invention relates to a hot water boiler for central heating or for distributing hot water o
Its purpose is to provide a device that can possibly be placed in an inhabited room, which can then be used both as a heat source for this place and as a boiler for heating the home or for distributing hot water. and which is at the same time of a high efficiency while being able to function with the aid of any kind of fuel, such as domestic coal for example, town gas, fuel oil, etc.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
With a view to achieving this aim, the boiler which is the subject of the invention is characterized in that it is of the type of a slow combustion stove or heater in which hollow rings are arranged one above the other. connected to each other by vertical pipes.
In accordance with one of the characteristics of the invention, these hollow rings are provided at their upper part and at their lower part with teeth placed close together to form a kind of cylindrical vertical grid which prevents the passage of coal between. these rings while allowing the hot gases resulting from the combustion to lick the total surface of each of these rings
These, which form the actual body of the boiler serving both as a fuel tank and as a fireplace, are surrounded by an external protective cylindrical wall which forms with the vertical cylindrical grid an annular space traversed by the hot gases.
The accompanying drawings show an exemplary embodiment of the object of the invention in the case of coal heating.
Figure I is a front elevational view of the boiler ,.
Figure 2 shows in plan a section taken by the plane II-II of figure I.
FIG. 3 represents a vertical section, by a plane passing through the axis of the boiler.
Figure 4 is a section taken along the horizontal plane IV-IV in figure 3.
In these figures 1 denotes the base of the boiler
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
-re provided with feet 2. This base 1 receives a drawer or tray j intended to collect the ashes. This drawer is large and rests on the bottom of the plinth.
The upper part of this base is pierced in the middle of an opening 4 with interlocking in order to receive a grid .5 constituted by two semi-circles 6 & 7 juxtaposed arranged on axes 8 and 2 -Each of these half- The rings 6 & 7 are provided with a toothed rod 10 which can turn in suitable supports and whose teeth are engaged with a central toothed wheel 11.
One of the rods 10 is extended outwards from the base 1 and is terminated by an operating handle 12
On the base.1 rest circular bodies or hollow rings 13. superimposed which are connected to each other at the rear part of the boiler by vertical pipes 14 and to the. front part by two series 15 & 16 of vertical pipes located symmetrically with respect to the vertical plane passing through the axis of symmetry of the grill 5.
The lower hollow ring is attached to the plinth. 1 by prisoners 17 (see figure 2 & 3)
These hollow rings spaced apart from each other can be cast in a single casting with their tubes and thus appear without any nipple, nipple or connecting bolt. They can also be elbow separately and be assembled together. to each other using threaded nipples like the elements of a radiator:
Each of these rings has at its inner periphery fins directed upwards and downwards and forming teeth 18 which are constructed so as to
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
leave free passages 19 intended for the circulation of the hot gases coming from the combustion. These teeth nevertheless prevent the passage to the outside, of the coal poured into the central space formed by the rings, that is to say infiltration coal between the hollow rings.
The lower hollow ring is connected by a tu bulure 20 to the return pipe of the central heating or the hot water distribution and the upper hollow ring to the outlet pipe by the pipe 21.
On the other hand on the base and also fixed a cylindrical body 22 made of sheet metal or cast iron 0 This body is adapted by means of bolts (not shown) on the rim 23, located at the upper part of the base and surrounds completely the hollow rings 13 so as to constitute the outer wall of the boiler.
At the lower front part of this body, and fixed to it, there is a box 24 with a micas door on which is provided a rate regulator 26 or an automatic valve of known construction.
The door 25 of this box 24 gives access to two mobile vertical grids of known type which are intended to retain the coal.
The rings 15 are interrupted at the level of this box to allow the interior cleaning of the hearth and to facilitate the entry of the air and the combustion of the coal.
At the upper part of the body 22 is a loading box 27 with an adjustment slide on the door. The rings 13 are also interrupted at the level of this box 27 to facilitate the loading of the

coal.
The upper part of the appliance is provided with a cast iron head intended to possibly allow the heating of food 11) This cast iron head is pierced with two openings intended to receive the thermometer 28 and the level indicator. water, connected to the upper hollow ring @ A cap 2 covers this cast iron head.
Finally, behind the boiler is fixed to the body 22 an evacuation pipe 30 for gases and fumes, provided with two side plates 31 allowing easy and rapid cleaning of the gas and fume pipe.
In the boiler thus constructed, the hot gases, originating from the combustion of the combustion coal which takes place on the grate in the space formed between the lower hollow rings can pass through the free passages 19 between the teeth 18 and lick the hollow rings 13 between the body 22 and the cylindrical grid formed by the set of teeth 18 over their entire surface.
The water contained in the hollow rings 13 is heated directly by conduction by the combustion of the coal in the space formed inside the rings and also by the hot gases circulating between these rings and the envelope 22.
The water. cold enters through the tube 20 and leaves hot through the tube 21 after having passed through the superimposed hollow rings.
The arrangement adopted makes it possible to have a maximum heating surface which is constituted by the sum of the surfaces.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
-these outer hollow rings 13 and pipes 14, 15 and 16
Each point of these surfaces is heated, as already said, either by the burning coal, or by the hot gases which move towards the cneminée by licking the external wall of the rings facing the envelope.
The special arrangement of the grille allows the fireplace to be emptied without having to open the lower door. It suffices to my noeuvrer the handle 12 which causes the rotation of the half - grid 1 - and, by means of the central toothed wheel 11, that of the half grid 1. After the dust formed by the falling ash in the bin has settled, the bin 3 can be removed for emptying outside.
It will be noted that the boiler being built according to the data of a slow combustion stove, the parts can be enamelled or nickel-plated, as is the case for stoves of this type.
